“How about no”: FCC boss Brendan Carr says he won’t end news distortion probes

can we just get some clarity on what's going on here? like, the news distortion policy has been around since the 60s and only got one finding of distortion after 82... that's already pretty chill 😴 but now it's being used as leverage against broadcasters who are supposedly biased? sounds like a big ol' mess 🤯

i mean, i get where carr is coming from, trying to hold people accountable for their bias and all that. but at the same time, shouldn't we be worried about the fcc overstepping its bounds and stifling free speech? 🤷‍♂️ like, aren't journalists supposed to be able to report on whatever they want without fear of reprisal?

and what's with the bipartisan group of former FCC leaders just criticizing carr for taking a stance that i think is actually pretty reasonable? shouldn't we be having a more nuanced conversation about this stuff? 💬

🤔 I gotta say, I'm low-key worried about where this is all headed 🚨. The whole idea of government telling broadcasters what can and can't be said on air just doesn't sit right with me 🙅‍♂️. News distortion policy might've been a good idea back in the day, but now it's just becoming another tool for politicians to silence opposing views 💔. I mean, if Carr is using this policy as leverage against CBS stations that are accused of bias, isn't he just perpetuating the same problems he's trying to solve? 🤷‍♂️ It's like trying to stop a leak by putting more pressure on it - not gonna work 🔩.

I'm so over the drama 🤯. Like, can we just focus on getting some real journalism done around here? The news distortion policy is already a joke, and now this 😂. I mean, if Brendan Carr's gonna use it as a way to silence opposing viewpoints, that's just not right. The FCC should be about keeping broadcasters accountable, not using it to get revenge 🤷‍♀️. And what's up with all these lawmakers calling for transparency? That's like asking the elephant to stop trumpeting 🐘. We need to trust the media to do its job and fact-check their own reporting 📰.
