Tragedy struck on Highway 80 in Fairfield early Sunday morning, claiming the lives of three individuals in a wrong-way vehicle collision. The accident occurred around 2 a.m., when two separate two-vehicle collisions took place east of Cordelia Weigh Station.
One of the incidents involved a white Dodge Charger and a black Land Rover Discovery. Two adult men were traveling together in the Charger, while an adult woman was behind the wheel of the Land Rover. Unfortunately, all three occupants suffered fatal injuries. However, it remains unclear at this time which vehicle was the wrong-way driver.
Witness accounts describe the scene as chaotic, with one witness reporting that a "light colored sedan" – believed to be the incorrect vehicle direction – was involved in the collision. Authorities have yet to confirm which specific vehicle was operating against traffic flow.
Details regarding potential substance involvement are still pending investigation. The identities of the deceased will be withheld until next of kin are notified.
The situation took a more alarming turn with a second collision, as a black Tesla Model Y collided with a red Toyota Tacoma. Both vehicles were being driven by adult males. Miraculously, one driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital, while the other remained unharmed.
In contrast to the second incident, authorities do not suspect substance use played a role in this particular collision.

Just heard about that tragic accident on Highway 80... can you imagine waking up to the sound of sirens and chaos all over? 
You gotta be careful when driving, especially at night. I mean, who expects to get into a car accident like this? It's not just the speed or substance use that's a problem, but also being alert and aware of your surroundings.
