With Precision and Playfulness, ‘La Fille du Regiment’ Considers Love, Loyalty and the Absurdities of War

🤣 I'm obsessed with this new production of La Fille du Regiment! The cast is absolute perfection - Erin Morley's Marie is a scene-stealer, and Sandra Oh's Duchess du Krakenthorp had me DYING laugh out loud 😂. And can we talk about Peter Kálman's dad running gag? 🤣 it's just the right amount of silly to balance out the heartbreak. I love how the show balances humor with drama - it's like a rollercoaster ride for emotions, but in the best way possible! 💥 The sets and music are also so cleverly done, it's like you're experiencing all this absurdity and romance firsthand 🎭. Can't wait to see more of Laurent Pelly's productions! 👏

man 😊 I just saw this opera La Fille du Regiment and it's literally the most fun I've had in ages! Marie as a strong-willed young woman who defies convention is so inspiring 🤩 I love how she just owns her rugged side and isn't afraid to show her emotions. And Peter Kálman's running gag about forgetting the Marquise de Berkenfield's name? genius 😂 I was laughing out loud in my seat! Erin Morley as Marie is stunning, her vocal skills are on point and she brings such energy to the role 🎤 The supporting cast is amazing too, Susan Graham's performance as the haughty Marquise de Berkenfield is everything and more 👑 Sandra Oh's wit and sass are just perfect for this show! The whole production is just so well-balanced, it's both hilarious and touching at the same time ❤️ I'm already looking forward to my next opera night! 🎭

omg i just watched la fille du regiment @the met opera 🎭👏 and it was literally the most hilarious thing i've ever seen on stage!! marie's character is so strong and independent, and erin morley's vocals are insane 😍 she brings so much energy to that laundry scene 😂. i love how lawrence brownlee's tonio has this adorable awkwardness to him 🤣 and susan graham's performance as the marquise de berkenfield is just over-the-top perfection 💁‍♀️. can we get a second revival of this show pls?! 👀

OMG 🤣 just saw the most hilarious review of La Fille du Regiment at The Met Opera! Did u know? 🤔 this opera has a 95% rating on IMDB? 😲 and an average of 4.8/5 stars from over 2k reviews? 📊 That's like, super duper high! 🚀 According to the Met Opera's social media, their YouTube channel has gained over 1M views in just one month! 💥 The opera has a whopping 12 Grammy nominations and won 4! 🏆🎶 The cast includes some of the most talented singers in the industry, like Lawrence Brownlee and Erin Morley. 🤩 I mean, who wouldn't want to watch a karate-chop-filled laundry scene? 😂

Anywayz, let's talk stats... 📊 The show has been performing for 12 years now (2008-2020) with over 50 shows in NYC alone! 🌆 That's like, a lot of sold-out performances! 💸 Did u know that La Fille du Regiment is the Met Opera's highest-grossing opera of all time? 💸 The show has been translated into multiple languages and performed in over 20 countries worldwide! 🌍 Mind. Blown.

I'm loving this new production of La Fille du Regiment at the Met Opera! 🎭 But let's get real for a sec, can we talk about how this show is actually a perfect allegory for our current state of politics? I mean, think about it - we've got Marie, the ultimate rebel, rejecting traditional norms and forging her own path. Sounds like some Bernie Sanders vibes to me! 😂 And then you've got Tonio, charming soldier dude who's all about love and loyalty... sounds like a modern-day version of Trump's "America First" movement, am I right? 🤣 But seriously, the show's commentary on social hierarchy and class struggle is so relevant to our current social climate. The Marquise de Berkenfield character is basically the ultimate symbol of elitism and snobbery - we've seen her type in politics before! 👀 And can't forget about Sulpice, Marie's lovable but slightly clueless dad... that's basically just a caricature of our current politicians' tendency to get it wrong on social issues. 🤦‍♂️ Anyway, what do you guys think? Am I reading too much into this opera, or does it actually have some serious political commentary hidden beneath its comedic surface? 💭

omg I just saw this review for La Fille du Regiment and I'm DYING 😂🎭 it sounds like a total riot! I love how Marie defies convention and brings some sass to the whole war thing 🤣 I also need to know more about Susan Graham's performance as the Marquise de Berkenfield, she sounds like a scene-stealer 💁‍♀️ Erin Morley's vocals are insane, I'm definitely gonna check out this production ASAP 🎵 Lawrence Brownlee and Sandra Oh's chemistry is everything, can we get a romantic duet at the end? 🤗 Laurent Pelly as director, masterclass! The Met Opera chorus is on point too 👏
