Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) and Latin American animation studio Mundoloco CGI have launched the Launchpad Series, a contest aimed at supporting emerging talent in the region. The initiative is part of WBD's efforts to develop new animated series with high production potential and global appeal.
Seven finalists were selected from all the titles submitted for selection at Animation!, part of Ventana Sur, Latin America's biggest film-TV market. Finalists will present their projects to WBD representatives, with one winning project receiving a six-month development deal, including artistic and strategic mentorship, guidance on key materials, and support for international markets.
The selected Launchpad Series creators and producers include Luz Orlando Brennan, Ezequiel Asnaghi, Cristóbal Figueroa, Carla Aguilar, Joaquín Sánchez, João Castro, Diego Alexander Pinilla Rozo, and Alicides Izaguirre. Their projects showcase a range of styles and genres, from comedy to fantasy to adventure.
Launchpad Series aims to support emerging Latin American animators by developing original IPs, offering creative and technical guidance, and helping local stories reach global audiences. According to Jaime Jiménez, VP of Content and Production, Original Kids & Animation, for Warner Bros. Discovery Latam, "Latin American animation offers rich cultural diversity, bold visual styles, and emotionally driven storytelling."
The selected projects demonstrate a unique blend of regional flair and international appeal. The contest is open to new and experienced creators alike, with a focus on supporting fresh talent.
