WBD, Mundoloco CGI Set Launchpad Series, an Emerging Talent Initiative for Ventana Sur (EXCLUSIVE)

Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) and Latin American animation studio Mundoloco CGI have launched the Launchpad Series, a contest aimed at supporting emerging talent in the region. The initiative is part of WBD's efforts to develop new animated series with high production potential and global appeal.

Seven finalists were selected from all the titles submitted for selection at Animation!, part of Ventana Sur, Latin America's biggest film-TV market. Finalists will present their projects to WBD representatives, with one winning project receiving a six-month development deal, including artistic and strategic mentorship, guidance on key materials, and support for international markets.

The selected Launchpad Series creators and producers include Luz Orlando Brennan, Ezequiel Asnaghi, Cristóbal Figueroa, Carla Aguilar, Joaquín Sánchez, João Castro, Diego Alexander Pinilla Rozo, and Alicides Izaguirre. Their projects showcase a range of styles and genres, from comedy to fantasy to adventure.

Launchpad Series aims to support emerging Latin American animators by developing original IPs, offering creative and technical guidance, and helping local stories reach global audiences. According to Jaime Jiménez, VP of Content and Production, Original Kids & Animation, for Warner Bros. Discovery Latam, "Latin American animation offers rich cultural diversity, bold visual styles, and emotionally driven storytelling."

The selected projects demonstrate a unique blend of regional flair and international appeal. The contest is open to new and experienced creators alike, with a focus on supporting fresh talent.

OMG I'm so hyped about this Launchpad Series 🤩! It's amazing that Warner Bros. Discovery and Mundoloco CGI are giving Latin American animators the chance to showcase their talents and create something special for global audiences 🌎. I love that there are projects ranging from comedy to fantasy and adventure, it's like they're speaking our language 💥.

I think it's super cool that they're focusing on supporting fresh talent and giving a six-month development deal to the winning project 🎉. It's all about nurturing new animators and helping them grow into something amazing. And with the mentorship and guidance, I'm sure we'll see some incredible projects come out of this.

I'm also loving the idea that they're highlighting Latin American animation's unique cultural diversity and bold visual styles 🌈. We need more of that on our screens!

Ugh, this Launchpad Series sounds like just another way for the big players to swoop in and buy up all the good ideas from the smaller studios 🤦‍♀️. I mean, what's to stop them from just absorbing all these talented creators into their own machine? And six months of "artistic and strategic mentorship" is basically code for "we're gonna water down your vision to fit our corporate brand". Give me a break! 💔

Just watched this video about the launch of Launchpad Series at
~🎉💥 And I gotta say, it's so cool to see these new animators getting a chance to shine! Their projects are all unique and have that Latin American flair that's just missing in most animation nowadays 🤩. Can't wait to see what they come up with next 👀.

🤩 just saw that Warner Bros Discovery is backing some dope Latin American animators through this Launchpad Series. I'm low-key hyped about it! 🚀 it's awesome they're investing in emerging talent and giving them the chance to create something amazing with global appeal. The projects are supposed to be all over the place, from comedy to fantasy, so I'm curious to see what they come up with 🤔. Fingers crossed for these creators, hope they get that six-month development deal and can make some magic happen! 💥

🤔 just saw this thread and gotta chime in... think it's awesome that Warner Bros. Discovery is giving a platform for emerging Latin American animators to showcase their work. We're living in an era where diversity & representation matter so much in the industry, and I'm glad they're supporting local talent.

The fact that they're not just focusing on comedy or fantasy shows (although those are always fun 😂), but also giving space for more experimental projects is a big plus. Latin American animation has so much to offer, from vibrant colors to unique storytelling styles... it's time we see more of these stories getting global attention!

Would love to see what kind of impact this initiative can have on the industry... do you guys think it'll help pave the way for more diverse voices in animation? 🤞

🤔 I just saw this thread about the Launchpad Series and I'm so glad it's happening! I've been following some Latin American animators for years and it's always inspiring to see what they're working on. The fact that Warner Bros. Discovery is investing in their work is amazing - those guys have got some big budgets, but it's clear they believe in the talent out there.

I love that they're looking at a range of styles and genres, not just focusing on one thing like "Latin American animation" (although I get why that might be seen as limiting). And the fact that they're open to new creators is super cool - it's all about giving fresh voices a chance. I'm curious to see what the winning project looks like!

🎉 Can you imagine how lit it's gonna be when these fresh faces bring their animated magic to the global stage? I've got my fingers crossed for Luz Orlando Brennan's project, sounds like it's got some serious potential 🤞 and that Six-Month Development Deal is gonna give those winners a major boost 💪. The fact that WBD is investing in this initiative is a huge thumbs up (pun intended) for Latin American animation as a whole 🎊. I mean, have you seen the styles and genres they've got lined up? Comedy, fantasy, adventure... it's like a flavor explosion 🤯. And Jaime Jiménez' words about cultural diversity and bold visual styles ring so true 💕. This is exactly what we need more of – authentic voices telling stories that deserve to be shared with the world 🌎. Can't wait to see these creators bring their talents to life!

I'm loving this initiative! 🤩 It's about time we see more Latin American animators getting the recognition they deserve. I mean, have you seen some of the shows that are out there right now? They're so basic and formulaic. But with WBD's support, I think we'll start seeing some real innovation and creativity come out of this region.

And I love how they're not just focusing on one specific style or genre. It's all about showcasing the diversity of Latin American animation. From comedy to fantasy to adventure - it's going to be so cool to see what these creators come up with. And with WBD's resources and expertise, I think we'll start seeing some amazing projects pop up in no time.

I'm a bit surprised they didn't include more women and people of color from Latin America, though. But overall, this is a huge step forward for the region's animation scene. Bring on the diversity! 🌈

I just love seeing initiatives like this 🌟! It's amazing how Warner Bros. Discovery and Mundoloco CGI are investing in the next generation of Latin American animators. I mean, think about it - animation is such a global language now, but where else can you see so many unique perspectives and styles all coming together? And the fact that they're not just focusing on new talent, but also supporting experienced creators too, shows they really care about the craft.

I'm intrigued by the range of projects that made it to the final round - comedy, fantasy, adventure... there's something for everyone! 🤔 It's a testament to the richness of Latin American culture and storytelling. I'd love to see more stories from this part of the world getting their due on the global stage.

The idea of supporting local stories reaching global audiences is so important these days 🌎. We need more diverse voices telling our own tales, and this initiative is a step in the right direction. Fingers crossed for all the talented creators involved! 👍

I THINK IT'S AMAZING THAT WBD IS OFFERING THIS KIND OF SUPPORT TO EMERGING TALENT IN LATIN AMERICA!!! 🤩🎉 THE FACT THAT THEY'RE FOCUSING ON DEVELOPING ORIGINAL IPs AND HELPING LOCAL STORIES REACH GLOBAL AUDIENCES IS JUST GREAT NEWS FOR THE REGION. I MEAN, WHO DOESN'T WANT TO SEE MORE LATIN AMERICAN ANIMATION MAKING IT BIG?! 🌟 AND THE FACT THAT EXPERIENCED CREATORS ARE ALSO ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IS JUST AWESOME! 💪

im not sure i get the hype about this Launchpad Series 🤔... it sounds like just another way for big studios to swoop in and claim some Latin American talent as their own 💼. don't get me wrong, i think its cool that they're trying to support emerging animators, but what's to stop them from watered downing the projects or turning them into something more "marketable"? 🤷‍♀️

i mean, we've seen this before - a bunch of indie studios churning out some cool animation, only for it to get picked up by a big studio and suddenly its all about "brand" and "merchandising"... not exactly what i'd call "supporting local stories" 📦. still, gotta give credit where credit is due, the selected projects do look pretty diverse and exciting 😊... but im still keeping my eyes on the prize, waiting to see if they actually deliver on their promises 💯

I think it's awesome that Warner Bros. Discovery is giving Latin American animators a chance to shine! 🤩 They're launching this Launchpad Series which is basically a competition for talented creators who want to make animated series but need some guidance and support. The fact that they're focusing on emerging talent is really great because it shows they care about the next gen of animators.

I love that their projects have all these different styles and genres, from comedy to fantasy to adventure. It's like a mix-and-match of awesome! 🎨 And I think it's cool that they want to help local stories reach global audiences. Latin American animation is all about being unique and showcasing our culture in a way that's globally relatable.

It's also great that the selected creators are getting a six-month development deal with mentorship, guidance, and support for international markets. That's like a dream come true for any aspiring animator! 🙌

I think it's awesome that Warner Bros. Discovery & Mundoloco CGI are giving emerging Latin American animators a chance to shine 💥🎉.
