Rooney's comments about Van Dijk and Salah are super lame. Like, if you're gonna criticize them, at least try to give constructive feedback instead of just throwing shade because they're older. It's not like they're too old to learn or improve - Van Dijk is still killing it on the pitch! And can we talk about how easy it is to blame the "older players" without acknowledging the team's issues? That's just a cop-out, imo. The team needs to work together and support each other, not tear each other down because of age.
Van Dijk is totally right! It's so unfair when pundits like Rooney just jump on the bandwagon and blame the older players. Like, what about all the other factors at play? The team's situation has changed, they're not the same dominant force they were last season. And let's be real, Van Dijk is still an amazing player, he wouldn't be captain if he wasn't! But it's easy to forget that everyone on the team contributes to the struggles or successes... we should all be holding each other up instead of tearing each other down!
I feel bad for Rooney, I get what he's saying but can't help feeling like he's kinda taking it out on his own players . Van Dijk makes some solid points about how it's easy to blame the older guys when things aren't going well, and I think we should be giving more credit to our team leaders for trying to rally the troops . The thing is, Liverpool's situation has definitely changed since last year, they're still working through some tough times . As for Van Dijk, he's got a right to defend himself, but at the same time I think it's good that he's owning up to his own role in the team and taking responsibility .
