Villanova University says its campus is safe after investigating threat to academic building

Villanova University has deemed its campus safe following an investigation into a threat of violence made against one of its academic buildings. Despite receiving the threat on Thursday morning, classes and activities have been canceled for the remainder of the day.

The university initially closed its doors after receiving the threat, but officials reported no active danger in the hours that followed. However, to err on the side of caution, certain facilities were left open, including student health services, library, Connelly Center, and three main dining halls.

Law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, are working together to investigate the incident, which is believed to have been part of a larger series of similar threats made against multiple universities. The exact locations of these institutions remain undisclosed for security reasons.

As a precautionary measure, a heightened police presence will be maintained on campus throughout the day.

In an earlier incident in August, Villanova University was forced to shut down during its orientation mass after reports of an active shooter prompted law enforcement officials to determine that the threat was a "cruel hoax" mirroring similar threats made at other institutions. Experts have attributed such incidents, known as "swatting," to an underground cybercrime group.

The FBI and local authorities are continuing to investigate the latest threat, which has raised concerns about safety on college campuses nationwide.

Ugh I'm so done with these school threats 😩. I mean I get it, someone's gotta do some digging to figure out who's behind it all, but can't we just have one day of peace without having to cancel everything? 🤯 I'm sure the students are getting super anxious about their classes and stuff... Anyway, at least they're keeping an eye on the facilities and law enforcement is involved. Fingers crossed no actual harm comes to anyone 💕.

I'm so worried about these college kids 🤕. I mean, can you imagine being in class or just trying to study when suddenly there's a threat of violence? It's already stressful enough with exams and assignments looming over your head, and then you gotta deal with this? Villanova's got the right idea by keeping everyone safe, but at the same time, it's crazy that we even have to think about this stuff in the first place 🤯. And what's even more concerning is that these threats are happening all over the country - it's like a sense of unease has settled over our universities 🚨. I just hope law enforcement can get to the bottom of it and find out who's behind it, because it's got to be stopped ASAP 💪

🤔 I think it's kinda crazy that these swatting threats are still happening and people are worried about their safety on campus. Like, shouldn't there be better ways to deal with this stuff? The FBI is working with the university, but shouldn't they also be looking at the person who made the threat in the first place? I mean, it's not like it was just a random prank... 🤷‍♂️ It's a big deal when someone threatens violence and puts people's lives at risk. We need to figure out how to stop this stuff from happening in the future! 😬

I'm telling ya, it's just a matter of time before these swatting threats start causing real harm 🤯. I mean, what's to stop someone from actually pulling off an active shooter scenario? It's not like the authorities are doing enough to prevent this stuff 😒. And now they're just gonna keep us on high alert with all these 'enhanced security measures' 🚔. What's the point of having a heightened police presence if it's just gonna be a bunch of cops standing around looking paranoid? 🤷‍♂️ I'm not buying it, and neither should anyone else 👎

🤔 I feel for the students who had their day disrupted by this threat... can't say I blame them for wanting some extra security on campus though 🚨. It's just crazy how these threats keep popping up and it's hard to know what's real and what's not. Hopefully, the authorities can figure out what's going on and get to the bottom of it 👮‍♂️. But at the same time, don't want people walking around with their guns ready for every little thing 😬. I think Villanova did the right thing by being cautious though... better safe than sorry, right? 💯

I'm kinda glad that Villanova was able to get their campus checked out and deemed safe after receiving that threat 😊. It's always better to be safe than sorry, right? I mean, who wants to take any chances when it comes to people's safety, especially on a college campus where you're supposed to be learning and growing 📚. The fact that they were able to cancel classes for the day was probably a good call, anyway - can't have anyone getting hurt over some misguided threat 🙅‍♂️. And I'm sure the authorities are doing everything they can to figure out who's behind it all... fingers crossed that justice is served 💪!
