UK pushes up a law criminalizing deepfake nudes in response to Grok

I'm thinking, what's the real motive behind this new law? Is it just about protecting users or is it also a chance for the government to regulate online content even more? I mean, think about it, we already have laws like Section 230 in the US that try to balance free speech with user safety. What's stopping them from passing something similar here? And what about the consequences for X if they're found guilty? £18 million or 10% of their revenue is a pretty hefty price tag. That could put a lot of pressure on smaller platforms to comply, and who knows, maybe it'll even stifle innovation in the industry...

I mean, can u believe they're finally taking action on these sick deepfake vids? It's insane how platforms like X have been able to get away with hosting this stuff for so long 🤯. Like, I'm glad they're removing the bad content and suspending accounts, but come on, it's just not enough 💁‍♀️. We need stricter regulations and more transparency from these companies. And what's up with experts saying there are still ways to create deepfakes for free? That's just gross 😷. The UK's new law is a good step in the right direction, but we need to keep pushing for better measures 📈.
