In a shocking claim, former US President Donald Trump announced that he believes he could potentially serve a third term as Vice President under a future Republican administration.
According to Trump, the Constitution's requirement for presidential terms does not apply to vice-presidential positions. He stated this while sharing a video message with his supporters, sparking widespread debate and speculation among politicians and constitutional experts alike.
Trump argued that Article II, Section 1 of the US Constitution only explicitly states the requirements for the President, leaving the eligibility rules for Vice Presidents ambiguous. He pointed to the fact that there is no explicit requirement that sets a limit on the number of terms a vice president can serve.
However, many have disputed Trump's claim, arguing that the spirit and intent behind the 22nd Amendment, which limits presidential terms to two, should also apply to Vice Presidential positions. Constitutional scholars point out that the amendment's language does not explicitly address the issue but implies a broader prohibition on multiple term limits for both President and Vice President.
Trump's assertion has raised questions about the implications of such a ruling for future administrations and the potential for abuse of power. With Trump's influence remaining strong in the Republican Party, many are watching with bated breath to see how this claim might play out in the coming months.

... if Trump can technically argue that the 22nd Amendment doesn't apply to VP terms, what's next? Are we gonna start seeing some crazy, unprecedented stuff happen in DC? Like, I get it, he's still got a huge following and all, but come on, guys! The Constitution is pretty clear about the limits on presi & VP terms... can't just make that up, you know?

It feels like we're playing with fire here, and I don't think it's a good idea at all. What if someone else tried to do this in 20 years and got away with it? The thought of it gives me the heebie-jeebies

I saw this news like a week ago! Anyway, I think this is a huge issue and could be super problematic for our democracy. If Trump's claim holds true, it basically means he could run for a third non-presidential term (which would still count towards his total number of terms) in the future, just because of being VP. That's some seriously concerning power abuse right there

I'm not sure what's more worrying – Trump actually believing he can do this or the fact that people are even having that conversation

I mean, he's always been someone who likes to challenge the status quo, but a third term as VP? That's a big one

. And let's be real, this could set a huge precedent for future administrations... it's like, if we're gonna allow Trump to potentially hold onto his VP spot after two terms, where does that leave everyone else? It's just not fair

. . Will Trump's supporters buy into his claim, or will they call him out for being dishonest? One thing's for sure - if he does end up running for VP, it'll be a wild ride
