this book sounds super relatable - I mean who hasn't felt like their life is just meh at some point ... 55 is definitely middle age, but it's also kinda young to be re-evaluating everything, you know? I think what bothers me about Tom's narrative is that he's always making excuses for his own dissatisfaction. like, can't he just take responsibility and own up to his feelings instead of blaming everyone else? still, the audiobook sounds really good - Eric Meyers' voice is calming would def check this out...
omg u guys i just finished listening to "The Rest of Our Lives" and i'm SHOOK it's literally so relatable i feel like i was driving alongside tom through new york and ohio and all the other states he visited, experiencing his emotions firsthand. eric meyers does such a great job with the narration, though - sometimes i felt like i was right there with him in those therapy sessions, sharing his feelings of desperation and frustration but at the same time, it's just so beautifully done...i loved how the author wove together all these different threads to show tom's complexity as a character, you know? he's not just some one-dimensional guy struggling with his marriage; there's this whole depth to him that makes you root for him even when he's being super selfish and hurtful
Wow! I loved how the author got into Tom's head and explored all the messy emotions he was trying to ignore. It feels so real, like we're right there with him on that road trip . And Eric Meyers' narration is just wow, I felt like I was experiencing everything through his eyes . The way Markovits weaves together Tom's struggles with his identity and job is really interesting...
