Steve Martin and Martin Short Pause Comedy Show to Honor Catherine O’Hara: ‘The Greatest, Most Brilliant, Kindest, Sweetest Angel’

Comedy legends Steve Martin and Martin Short paid tribute to the late Catherine O'Hara, hailing her as "the greatest, most brilliant, kindest, sweetest angel" that any of them worked with. The heartfelt gesture took place during their "The Best of Steve Martin and Martin Short" comedy show in Austin, Texas, just hours after O'Hara's death was announced.

A large image of the beloved actress appeared on screen behind the two comedians as they stood on stage to honor her memory. O'Hara, who passed away at 71 following a brief illness, had been a longtime friend and collaborator of Short's, having first met her in the Canadian sketch comedy series "Second City Television" back in the late 1970s.

Martin, meanwhile, had previously worked with O'Hara on the 1994 film "A Simple Twist of Fate," directed by Gillies MacKinnon. The tribute was a poignant moment, coming as it did so soon after O'Hara's passing.

O'Hara's death has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, with numerous stars sharing heartfelt messages to pay tribute to her memory. Macaulay Culkin, who starred alongside her in "Home Alone," wrote on Instagram: "Mama. I thought we had time. I wanted more. I wanted to sit in a chair next to you. I heard you but I had so much more to say." Seth Rogen also paid tribute, saying: "Really don’t know what to say… I told O’Hara when I first met her I thought she was the funniest person I’d ever had the pleasure of watching on screen."

O'Hara's legacy will undoubtedly live on through her remarkable body of work, which continues to delight audiences to this day. Her passing leaves a void in the entertainment industry, but her memory will be celebrated by those who knew and loved her.
