Steelers' TJ Watt Bracing for NFL punishment after Joe Flacco incident

I feel bad for T.J. Watt ... he got caught up in the heat of the moment and didn't think about how it would look on camera. I get that he's a pass-rusher and he needs to be physical, but that hit was definitely too much . If he gets fined that's fair, but maybe they could've handled it differently? I mean, we all know how aggressive Watt is on the field , so it's not like this was an isolated incident... still, he should've been more careful . The NFL's got to do what they gotta do, though , and if that means handing out a hefty fine, then so be it... just hope T.J. doesn't get benched for the rest of the season .

so i was watching this game with my friends and we were all thinking that t.j. watt hit joe flacco pretty hard lol but then we saw what happened and it's a bit more complicated than that... i think the nfl is right to look into it though, player safety is super important, especially when you're hitting guys who are just trying to make a play

i don't think watt meant to hurt flacco or anything, but at the same time, he did put his whole body weight on him... it's one of those plays where you can see both sides and it's hard to know what really happened without seeing the replay again

omg, u gotta feel bad 4 joe flacco , i mean, he's already 41 and u hit him with a big tackle like that? i think it was a bit reckless from watt's part, but at the same time, i can see why the refs would flag it - player safety is super important in the nfl. if they do fine him, i hope it's not too harsh cuz he didn't mean to hurt flacco badly

The whole thing just feels so... unnecessary . I mean, come on T.J., you're one of the best pass rushers in the league and you can't even be bothered to let Joe Flacco get away from you? It's like he tried to knock him out cold . And now the NFL is going to penalize you for it? It just doesn't seem right .

I think about all these QBs getting hit in the head and neck area, it's a miracle they're still playing . The league needs to find a way to make this safer, but sometimes I feel like they just slap hands with teams and say "good job" . Like, no, it doesn't take that much effort to make sure these guys are protected .

And another thing, what's the point of even having a roughing the passer rule if it's not going to be enforced ? I mean, if you're going to fine someone for a move like that, then do it consistently . Don't just let teams get away with it every now and then .

Overall, I think T.J. Watt needs to take responsibility for his actions . He's a talented player, but he can't let his emotions get the best of him . And maybe next time, instead of trying to hit Joe Flacco with his entire body weight, he should just try to wrap him up like a normal tackle .
