‘Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere’ Wins Best Period Film at 2026 AARP Movies for Grownups Awards: Full Winners List

Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, a biopic about the pivotal period in Bruce Springsteen's life, took home the top prize at the 2026 Movies for Grownups Awards with AARP. The film beat out other notable contenders such as Dead Man’s Wire, Marty Supreme, Nuremberg, and Sinners in the best period film category.

The biopic has received mixed reviews from critics but was praised by fans of Springsteen's music, leading to its win at the prestigious awards ceremony. The film is set to be broadcast on PBS on February 22nd, as part of their Great Performances series.

Another notable film, Becoming Led Zeppelin, lost out in the best documentary category to My Mom Jayne, a film by actress Mariska Hargitay about her late mother, 1960s sex symbol Jayne Mansfield.

The Movies for Grownups Awards celebrate films and TV shows that cater to mature audiences aged 50+. The 2026 ceremony took place on January 10th at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles, California. It will be broadcast on PBS on February 22nd.

In addition to Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere's win, Hamnet took home the top award for best picture/best movie for grownups, although it didn't take any other awards. One Battle After Another won three awards, including best ensemble and best screenwriter, while Sentimental Value and The Pitt each won two.

AARP Movies for Grownup Awards honors films that celebrate the voices and stories of those 50+. This year's ceremony saw several notable performances, with Adam Sandler winning the career achievement award.

Other winners include George Clooney, who received the best actor award for his role in Jay Kelly, and Noah Wyle, who won best TV series or limited series for The Pitt.

Laura Dern took home the award for best actress for her performance in Is This Thing On?, dedicating it to her parents' legacy. Kathy Bates was honored with the best TV actress award for Matlock, while Jacob Elordi presented the best director award to Guillermo del Toro for Frankenstein.

The AARP Movies for Grownup Awards raises funds for the AARP Foundation, which supports older adults' financial resilience.

I'm telling ya, something's off about this whole thing 🤔... like, have you seen Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere? I mean, it won big at the Movies for Grownups Awards, but what's really going on here? Is it just a clever marketing ploy to get people to watch an old Bruce Springsteen movie? Or is there something more sinister at play? 🤑 I'm not saying the film itself is bad or anything, but... have you seen Adam Sandler's performance in Hamnet? He won that career achievement award, but was it really deserved? And what about Becoming Led Zeppelin losing out to My Mom Jayne? That's just weird, man... 😬

I'm so excited about Springsteen's biopic winning at the Movies for Grownups Awards 🎸🎶! I know some critics didn't love it, but fans of his music were totally on board and that's what matters 😊. It's great to see films celebrating the stories of people over 50 getting recognition - AARP does amazing work supporting older adults' financial resilience 💪. I'm also loving Hamnet winning best picture, that film was so beautifully shot 🌳. And can we talk about George Clooney's performance in Jay Kelly? He's such a talented actor 👏...

finally a decent biopic about springsteen wins something 🎉 that's great news for all his fans. but seriously, how many biopics can there be about one person? maybe it's time to give some new talent a chance? 👀

just when i thought i was over my 80s obsession, springsteen's biopic takes home the top prize 🤘🎉 guess all those decades of heartland rock were worth it. on a more serious note, it's awesome to see more films being made about older artists and their stories - hopefully we'll get some more good ones like this soon 💡. and btw, why did my mom not tell me she was a huge springsteen fan when i was growing up? 🙄

Ugh, what's up with these awards? It feels like they're just pitting old folks against each other 🤔. Like, Springsteen is awesome and all, but Deliver Me From Nowhere? Really? I mean, I love Bruce's music too, but can't we just watch the actual concerts instead of a biopic? 🎸 And what about Becoming Led Zeppelin? That one seemed super intriguing... guess it got lost in the shuffle 🤷‍♂️. Anyway, at least AARP is using these funds for good 👍

Wow 🙂 The fact that Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere won top prize at the 2026 Movies for Grownups Awards is pretty interesting 🤔. idk what's so special about biopics anymore they all blend together 🤷‍♂️ springsteen deliver me from nowhere won best period film i guess it's cool that fans of his music were hyped up for it but i think critics just wanted to give the old man some love 🎸 maybe it was the nostalgic vibes or something? either way, it's always a good time when aamc and oscar voters agree on something 😊

I'm so stoked that Springsteen's biopic finally got some recognition 🤩🎸! I mean, who doesn't love Bruce? The fact that fans of his music swayed the critics to give it a nod is totally fair to me 😊. I've seen him live and he's just as energetic and passionate on stage as he is in his songs.

I'm also kinda bummed that Becoming Led Zeppelin didn't win, though - Mariska Hargitay's mom Jayne Mansfield was an icon 🌟. But My Mom Jayne sounds like a really powerful doc, and I'd love to check it out.

And yay for the winners! George Clooney looking dashing as always 😎, and Laura Dern dedicating that award to her parents' legacy? So sweet 💕. Can't wait to watch Springsteen's biopic on PBS - February 22nd can't come soon enough 📺👍

I don’t usually comment but... I'm kinda surprised Springsteen's biopic won Best Period Film 🤔. Don't get me wrong, it's great to see fans of his music getting some love 😊, but wasn't Dead Man’s Wire or Marty Supreme gonna take home the prize? Not saying they didn't deserve it, but maybe it was a close call 🎉. Either way, can’t wait to watch Deliver Me From Nowhere on PBS! I've heard great things about the film 📺
