Some US media are cheerleading Trump's Venezuela raid. That's not their job | Margaret Sullivan

🤔 I'm really worried about what's going on with our media these days... it feels like a lot of outlets are more interested in being buddies with Trump than actually holding him accountable for his actions 🙅‍♂️. Like, come on guys, a military raid on Venezuela is a big deal! shouldn't we be asking questions and digging deeper? 🤷‍♀️ I've seen some amazing journalism lately from outlets like AP and The New York Times that's really shedding light on what's going on in Venezuela... but it feels like the rest of them are just following suit 📺.

I'm still thinking about this Venezuela raid story... 🤔
The media's soft spot for Trump's actions is pretty concerning, you know? I mean, what's going on here? Are they getting some kind of special treatment or something?
I was reading a lot of articles from the left and right, and it seems like everyone's just kinda... meh about it. Like, "Oh yeah, the US did something in Venezuela, but isn't that cool?" 🙄
But what really gets my goat is when they're not even questioning Trump's motives or actions at all. It's like, "Hey, we got a new president! Let's just pretend everything's okay and move on!" 😒
I remember when Putin did some shady stuff in Ukraine, the media was all over it. They didn't shy away from asking tough questions or pointing out potential wrongdoings. So why are they being so lenient with Trump? 🤷‍♀️

omg u can't believe what's happening with the media right now 🤯 i'm literally shaking thinking about how they're just gushing over trump's raid on venezuela like it's no big deal!!! news at 11 is supposed to be serious, not a pep rally for the dude 🚫 and yeah i've seen that CBS broadcast and it was so cringeworthy tone-deafness alert 🙄 but what really gets me is how some outlets are just ignoring the human cost of this whole thing 🤕 like where's the coverage on the journalists who got arrested or the people who are still struggling to survive in caracas? 🌪️ we need more critical reporting, not just puff pieces for trump's ego 💁‍♂️

I don’t usually comment but... it’s kinda wild how some of these right-wing channels are just hyping up Trump’s Venezuela raid like it’s some kind of hero move 🤦‍♂️. Like, come on guys, it’s a military operation that resulted in the detention of journalists and armed gangs being deployed – isn’t that more of a red flag than a “daring” move? 😒

And don’t even get me started on Tony Dokoupil singing Marco Rubio’s praises – what was he trying to achieve with that segment? 🙄 It just felt like some old-school media soft-pedaling that only served to give Trump a free pass. As for the outlets that did provide serious coverage, kudos to them for shedding light on the situation and all, but it feels like they’re fighting an uphill battle against the noise from these pro-Trump channels 🗣️.

It’s also super concerning that some of these outlets might have received advance notice and held back publication to avoid putting American troops in harm’s way. Like, what exactly is going on here? Shouldn’t editors be prioritizing fact-checking over PR spin 🤔?

Anyway, I guess it just goes to show that journalism integrity is more important than ever – we need critical coverage and nuanced analysis to keep those in power accountable 📰.

man... this is getting weird 🤯 fox news and other right wing outlets are giving trump a free pass for his venezuela raid? that's just not cool... i mean, we know trump's been all over the place with his policies and antics but come on, a military raid in another country? it's huge 💥

i'm glad to see some global news outlets like the guardian, washington post, and new york times doing their due diligence and shedding light on what's really going down in venezuela 📰. those journalists are doing us all a solid by not just regurgitating trump's propaganda.

and yeah, it's suspicious that some outlets might have gotten advance notice of the raid and decided to hold back on reporting it... that's journalism 101 - you gotta be willing to ask tough questions and challenge the status quo if you wanna hold those in power accountable 💪.

I'm like totally with Trump here 🤷‍♂️, gotta say, what's all the fuss about? He's just trying to help Venezuela get its act together, right? I mean, those guys have been doing absolutely nothing for years and now they're crying foul when someone else tries to take charge. Global outlets are always so dramatic, can't they just report the facts without sugarcoating it? 🤯 And btw, what's with all this obsession over journalism integrity? It's like, get over yourselves, guys! The truth is the truth, and if Trump says he's doing good, that's all we need to know.
