Sixers assign Jared McCain to Delaware Blue Coats for second time this season

The Philadelphia 76ers have made a surprising move, assigning young player Jared McCain to the Delaware Blue Coats in the NBA G League for what appears to be his second stint with the team this season. At just 21 years old, McCain has failed to recapture the form that made him a promising rookie, instead struggling mightily through two months of return from injuries.

Despite efforts by head coach Nick Nurse to give McCain extended playing time in an attempt to help him regain his rhythm, the results have been disappointing. With minutes dwindling for several games, it seemed inevitable that a trip back to the G League was on the horizon.

This is not a new development, as McCain previously spent two games with the Blue Coats in November and expressed appreciation for the opportunity at the time. It now seems like a necessary step if he fails to improve his play. When asked about possible assignments earlier this week, Nurse left the door open for such a move, but ultimately couldn't justify giving McCain rotation minutes as the 76ers reached full strength.

For McCain, the assignment represents a significant setback in what has been a disappointing sophomore campaign. The excitement of last season's performances, where he played only 23 games before injury, seems like a distant memory now.

I don't get why they keep sending him down to G League πŸ€”. Dude was having a rough time and needed some time to work on his game. Sending him back for another stint might just break his confidence even more 😬. What's the plan here? Get him more experience or is it just to give other players a shot at playing time?

yep, this is what happens when u r tryin to keep someone on a team even tho they're not performin well. it's tough for the player, but i get why coach nurse did it - you gotta be realistic about who's gonna help the 76ers win games right now. mccain's still only 21, so there's hope he can turn things around, but for now, sendin him down to the g league might be just what he needs to regroup and refocus.

I think this move by the 76ers is a bummer for Jared McCain πŸ€•... I mean, you look at his talent level and past performance, and it's hard not to feel a little disappointed for him. He was such a promising rookie, and then he gets hurt and loses that momentum. Now, it looks like he's gotta regroup and refocus, which can be tough, especially when it feels like the clock is ticking πŸ”₯.

I think the key here is what the 76ers are trying to do. They're trying to help him figure out his game again, but they need him to perform at a certain level to stay relevant. Sending him down to the G League might be exactly what he needs - some time to work on his skills, get back in shape, and just focus on being a better player without all the pressure of playing for a team like the 76ers πŸ’ͺ.

It's not an easy road, but sometimes you gotta take the hard path if you wanna succeed. And who knows, maybe this stint down in Delaware will be the spark he needs to get back on track πŸ”₯

I think this move by the 76ers is like when you're trying to fix a broken puzzle and just end up putting it back together again 🀯. You can't keep throwing young players at McCain and expecting him to magically get his mojo back. The G League thing is probably gonna be tough for him, but it's also a chance to regroup and try something new. I mean, we all know how hard it is to bounce back from an injury or a bad stretch, right? It's like when you're trying to learn a new language – sometimes you gotta go back to basics. πŸ˜•

ugh this is just so sad for jared mccain πŸ€• i mean idk what's going on with him, one minute he's all hype and the next he's struggling to even get playing time lol he was such a promising rookie too, it's like he took two steps forward and 10 back. G league is harsh though, can't say im surprised but still it sucks for him. gotta wonder if he's lost that fire or what πŸ’”

aww man... poor Jared πŸ€• i feel like he's been stuck in a slump and can't get out πŸ˜” it's tough to see someone struggle so much after showing promise as a rookie πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ maybe this stint in the G League is just what he needs to shake things up again πŸ’ͺ but yeah, it's disappointing for him and his team too... i hope he bounces back strong πŸ”₯

I was just watching this crazy YouTube video of someone trying to break the world record for most pancakes eaten in one sitting... I mean, can you even imagine? 🀯🍴 My friend's cousin ate 50 pancakes in one hour and they were all like 'what's wrong with you?' but at the same time kinda impressed. Anyway, back to the 76ers... yeah, it's tough when teams try to help out young players but sometimes it just doesn't work out. I've seen this happen before with other rookies too... maybe Jared just needs a fresh start in Delaware? πŸ€”

I gotta feel bad for Jared McCain πŸ€•... he was so hyped coming out of college and now it's like his rookie magic didn't happen 🎩. The G League is definitely not the end of the world, but you can tell he's really struggling to find his footing again. The 76ers are probably trying to help him work on his game without putting too much pressure on him in the NBA, which I get. It's tough to see a young guy like him go through this, especially since it seems like just yesterday he was lighting it up on the court πŸ€πŸ’₯. Maybe this stint down in Delaware will be what he needs to recharge and come back stronger?

I feel bad for Jared McCain πŸ€•. He was so promising as a rookie and I think the NBA is toughening up on guys too fast. First, he gets hurt and then when he comes back, the coach doesn't give him enough playing time... it's like they're trying to break him πŸ˜“. And now this? Going down to the G League? It's not ideal for a 21-year-old kid who should still be learning and growing as a player 🀯. I hope he can turn things around, but right now it looks like he's struggling to regain his form πŸ€.

You know I feel for this kid Jared McCain πŸ˜”. He was on fire as a rookie and everyone thought he was gonna be the next big thing 🀯. But, injuries can be brutal πŸ’₯. I remember watching him play in college, he had so much potential 🌟. Now, it's like he's stuck in neutral πŸš—. The G League is like a reset button for these players βͺ. Hopefully, Jared takes this opportunity to regroup and come back stronger πŸ’ͺ. It's not the outcome anyone wanted, but you can't fault him for trying πŸ˜”.

man... it's crazy how far jared mccain has fallen from his rookie days 🀯 he was supposed to be the next big thing, but now he's just trying to get back on track in the g league πŸ˜” 21 years old and already feeling like he's let people down. i remember when joe bleak in philly, we all loved him so much... now mccain's struggles feel like a reminder of how quickly players can lose their mojo πŸ“‰ i hope he finds his groove again soon, but it's hard not to wonder what could've been πŸ‘€

I mean, I think this is kinda harsh on Jared McCain, ya know? He's still so young and the NBA is an incredibly tough league to crack. I'm all for giving young players chances to develop their game, especially when they show promise like he did in his rookie season πŸ€”. Two months of playing time with the 76ers after coming back from injuries, that's a lot to ask! And now he gets sent down to the G League again? It feels like a step backward. I wish they'd be more supportive and try some new approaches to help him regain his form πŸ’ͺ. This might actually be an opportunity for McCain to regroup, refocus, and come back stronger than ever πŸ”„

soo sad for jared mccain πŸ€•πŸ€ he was so promising as a rookie but struggling now πŸ˜” his form has been off and coach nick nurse is trying everything to help him regain it but nothing's working πŸ’” sending him down to the g league might be the best decision tho, at least he'll get to work on his game and come back stronger πŸ”„πŸ’ͺ hopefully he can recapture that magic from last season πŸ˜ƒ
