Eagles Interview Chiefs OC Matt Nagy for Head Coaching Job, Despite Rumors of Reid's Plan to Bring Back Eric Bieniemy

In a surprise move, the Philadelphia Eagles interviewed former Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator and Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy for their top coaching job, just days after learning that top candidates Mike McDaniel and Brian Daboll are no longer in the running.

According to sources, Nagy was brought in for an interview by the team on Wednesday, despite rumors that new coach Andy Reid is planning to bring back his old friend Eric Bieniemy as the Eagles' next offensive coordinator. However, the Eagles may be considering a change of heart if they believe Nagy can help stabilize their offense after several seasons of regression under Reid's leadership.

Nagy has a history with the Chiefs and Bears, where he spent three seasons coaching Patrick Mahomes and developed the team's offense into one of the best in the league. However, his tenure was marked by inconsistency, including a 6-11 record last season that led to his firing.

As head coach of the Bears, Nagy called plays for two of his four years with the team but handed play calling duties over to offensive coordinator Bill Lazor late in the 2020 season. The following year, he reclaimed play calling responsibilities before giving it up again.

Nagy's coaching career has been marked by ups and downs, including a stint as coach of the Bears where he led them to a 12-4 record but lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Eagles. He was named NFL Coach of the Year after that season but saw his tenure with the Bears cut short.

The Eagles' coaching carousel has been one of the most popular topics this offseason, and Nagy's interview raises questions about whether he is a viable candidate for the top job in Philadelphia. Will the team consider bringing back a familiar face from their own coaching staff or go outside to find someone new? Only time will tell.

idk why they'd wanna bring him in now tho ๐Ÿค” the rumors were saying reid was gonna stick with bieniemy and it all of a sudden just changed... Nagy's got a cool track record but that inconsistency is crazy what made em think he'd be the answer to their problems? maybe its time 4 them 2 rethink their strategy

I think it's crazy that they're even considering Matt Nagy, after his last season was so bad ๐Ÿคฏ he went 6-11 and got fired... I mean, don't get me wrong, the guy has some good experience with Patrick Mahomes and all, but can he really fix the Eagles' offense? It feels like they should be looking for someone more proven. Nagy's had his ups and downs, and I'm not sure why he's getting a second chance ๐Ÿ˜• Plus, if Reid is planning to bring back Eric Bieniemy, that's a pretty big departure from their original plan...

man i think nagy's got some experience under his belt that could really help stabilize the eagles' offense ๐Ÿค”, but at the same time he had some pretty rough years as head coach of the bears ๐Ÿˆ... like who can forget that 6-11 record ๐Ÿ˜… and then being named nfl coach of the year only to get fired a year later? yeah that's some drama right there ๐Ÿ’ฅ. but hey, you never know what'll happen in the offseason and maybe nagy will bring some magic to philly ๐Ÿง™โ€โ™‚๏ธ... or maybe not ๐Ÿ˜

I gotta say ๐Ÿค”, if the Eagles are considering Matt Nagy for that head coaching job... it's like they're trying to turn their offense around ๐Ÿ’ช. I mean, Nagy has a proven track record with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs ๐Ÿˆ. He knows how to develop talented QBs into game-changers. But at the same time, his stint as Bears coach was pretty rocky โ›ˆ๏ธ. They had that 12-4 record, but still ended up losing in the playoffs ๐Ÿ˜”. I'm not sure if he's stable enough for an NFL team like the Eagles ๐Ÿค. Still, you gotta respect the move ๐Ÿ’ฏ. Maybe Nagy can bring some stability and consistency to Philly's offense? Fingers crossed ๐Ÿคž!

man i cant believe the eagles are interviewing nagy again ๐Ÿคฏ he had some good years with the chiefs but his tenure with the bears was kinda meh idk if he can fix this offense after all the regression under reid's leadership tho maybe hes got a plan b? i mean nagy knows pat mahomes and his offense is fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ but nagys own track record isnt exactly stellar either ๐Ÿค” its gonna be an interesting interview who do u think they should go with tho?

๐Ÿค” I gotta say, I'm kinda surprised they're even considering Matt Nagy after all the ups and downs he's had as a coach ๐Ÿˆ. He's got some great credentials, don't get me wrong, but he also has that 6-11 record with the Chiefs last season...that's not exactly a confidence booster ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. And then there's the whole thing with Reid trying to bring back Eric Bieniemy - I think we can all agree that would be a big change ๐Ÿ”„. Nagy seems like a good fit, but are they just looking for someone who can stabilize the offense or are they hoping for a miracle? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ Either way, I'm curious to see how this whole thing plays out ๐Ÿ‘€

I'm so done with these NFL coaching changes ๐Ÿคฏ. One day you're sittin' pretty as the head coach of the Bears, and the next you're bein' asked if you wanna take over a team that's been strugglin' to score points ๐Ÿ’ฅ. I mean, Nagy's got some great experience under his belt, but 6-11 record? That's just crazy, man ๐Ÿ˜‚. And now they're thinkin' of bringin' back Bieniemy? C'mon, Eagles, make up your mind! ๐Ÿค” Do you want to stick with a familiar face or take a chance on some new blood? I guess only time will tell, but I'm just sayin', it's all so... unpredictable ๐Ÿ˜ฎ.

I THINK IT'S CRAZY HOW QUICKLY THINGS CAN CHANGE IN THE NFL COACHING CIRCUS!!! ๐Ÿคฏ NAGY WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FINE AS OC, BUT HE JUST CAN'T SEEM TO GET IT RIGHT!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ AND NOW HE'S BEING CONSIDERED FOR THE HEAD COACH JOB? THAT'S WILD!!! I MEAN, HE HAS EXPERIENCE WITH PATRICK MAHOMES AND ALL, BUT HE'S ALSO GOT SOME RED FLAGSTHAT SAY OTHERWISE ๐Ÿšจ. AND REID'S PLANS TO BRING BACK ERIC Bieniemy?!?! ISN'T THAT JUST WHAT THE EAGLES NEED? MORE CHAOS!!! ๐Ÿ˜‚

๐Ÿค” the eagles gotta think outside the box...or in this case, the box of eric bieniemy lol. nagy's got some experience under his belt, but that 6-11 record is a major red flag ๐Ÿšจ. plus, i mean, who doesn't love a good coaching carousel? it's like a never-ending game of musical chairs...except instead of chairs, its football teams ๐Ÿ˜‚. seriously though, nagy might be worth a shot if the eagles think he can bring some stability to their offense. but at this point, anything can happen ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ.
