Philly officials tell ICE to 'get out' of city after fatal shooting in Minneapolis

Philadelphia officials are issuing an unambiguous warning to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE): stay out of the city. The call to action came in response to the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old U.S. citizen who was killed by an ICE agent while driving through Minneapolis.

The city's leaders, including District Attorney Larry Krasner and City Council members, gathered at a press conference to condemn ICE's actions and express their determination to protect citizens from federal law enforcement. "Let me be clear," Krasner said, "if any law enforcement agent or ICE agent comes to Philly to commit crimes, you can get the F out of here." He emphasized that his office will prosecute anyone who commits a crime in Philadelphia, regardless of whether they have presidential pardons.

Kendra Brooks, minority leader of City Council, echoed Krasner's sentiments, calling on ICE to "get out of all cities" and branding Good's death as "state-sanctioned violence." She described the federal agency as "broken beyond repair" and advocated for its abolition.

The city's stance is being backed by a coalition of immigration groups, which held a vigil outside City Hall that drew hundreds of people. Protesters were joined by Aniqa Raihan, who stated, "We will gather, we will grieve, we will be together in our anger, in our fear, in our rage in this moment... We will remember not just Renee Good, but also the 33 other human beings who have died in ICE custody since January of 2025."

The incident has sparked widespread outrage and protests across the nation. Philadelphia Sheriff Rochelle Bilal criticized the ICE officers' actions at a news conference, noting that "law enforcement professionals do not shoot at a moving vehicle" or wear masks obscuring their faces.

In response to Good's killing, city lawmakers hinted that they are planning to take action against ICE's controversial masking policy and offer further protections for immigrants in Philadelphia. The city is taking a strong stance against the federal agency, asserting its right to protect its citizens from law enforcement actions.

The shooting has highlighted the need for greater accountability and transparency within the ICE agency. With many cities across the United States expressing similar outrage and solidarity with Renee Good's family, it remains to be seen how this incident will shape the future of immigration policies in America.

🚫 ICE needs to take a seat and listen up! What happened to Renee Nicole Good is absolutely unacceptable 🀬. I'm not saying all law enforcement agents are bad, but some agencies are clearly out of control. Philly's stance on this is spot on - if you're gonna come in here and enforce laws, do it right or get outta dodge πŸ’₯. And by the way, who thought it was a good idea to wear masks while chasing down people? πŸ™„ It's like they want to hide their identities. Aniqa Raihan said it best, we gotta remember all the other lives lost in ICE custody since January 2025 - our collective anger and fear are gonna make some noise πŸ’ͺ.

πŸš«πŸ’” I'm so sad about Renee's passing. It's just not right that a US citizen was killed by an ICE agent while driving through Minneapolis. The city is taking a big stand against ICE, and I think it's about time we see some real change. They need to make sure their agents are held accountable for their actions. The fact that they're trying to wear masks in public is just ridiculous, it's like they have nothing to hide. We deserve better from our law enforcement agencies.

I'm also glad to see the community coming together and demanding justice for Renee. It's time we talk about ICE's policies and how they're affecting people's lives. We need more transparency and accountability within that agency. This is just the tip of the iceberg, there are many more stories like this happening every day. We can't keep ignoring it! πŸ™πŸ’ͺ

Oh man, my heart is literally breaking for Renee's family and all those affected by ICE's brutal actions πŸ€•πŸ˜’. This is just so senseless and unfair... an innocent woman killed by a federal agent while driving through Minneapolis? It's like something out of a nightmare 😩.

I'm so glad Philly is taking a stand against this, though. We need more cities to rise up and demand justice for those who are being targeted and exploited by ICE πŸ™Œ. And Aniqa Raihan's words just gave me chills... "we will remember not just Renee Good, but also the 33 other human beings who have died in ICE custody since January of 2025" 😭.

It's time for us to demand accountability and change from our leaders. We need real action, not just empty words πŸ’ͺ. This is not just about Renee or her family; it's about all the people who are living in fear because of ICE's actions 🌟.

πŸ€” I'm totally okay with what's happening in Philly right now... no, wait, that can't be true! πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ The city is being super tough on ICE and it's actually a really good thing. 😊 But then again, maybe they're just being too harsh? πŸ‘€ It's hard to say because I don't know all the facts, but what I do know is that Renee Nicole Good's death was devastating... no, scratch that, it sounds way too sympathetic! πŸ˜’ I mean, come on, who wants to be a vigil for someone killed by an ICE agent? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ But at the same time, we have to acknowledge that this kind of thing can happen and it needs to be addressed. πŸ€” So yeah, I guess what I'm saying is... πŸ™ƒ

🚨 Philly officials are like "hey ICE stay outta our city" 🚫 after that fatal shooting where a U.S citizen was killed by an ICE agent while driving in Minneapolis 😱. The city leaders are all about protectin their citizens from federal law enforcement and they're not messin around πŸ’ͺ. They want anyone who commits crimes to get the F outta there, no matter if they have a presidential pardon 🀯. It's like, what even is that?! πŸ™„

πŸ€” I'm deeply troubled by this senseless tragedy. The fact that an innocent U.S. citizen was killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis is a stark reminder of the need for greater accountability and reform within our federal law enforcement agencies. 🚨ICE's actions are not only a clear overreach, but also a reflection of a systemic issue that affects countless individuals who have been marginalized and vulnerable to abuse. πŸ’₯ The city's bold stance against ICE sends a powerful message that citizens' lives will no longer be taken for granted. It's time for meaningful change, not just empty rhetoric. 🌟 We need to prioritize the values of justice, equality, and human rights, rather than perpetuating policies that exacerbate fear and mistrust. πŸ’•

ICE is literally driving people crazy 🀯! I mean, who sends their agents to patrol neighborhoods like that? Renee Nicole Good was just minding her own business and BAM! ICE agent starts shooting. It's a total nightmare. The city's response is totally justified - if you're gonna enforce the law in our city, do it with respect and training πŸš”πŸ’¨.

The whole "state-sanctioned violence" thing is on point too 😀. ICE needs to take responsibility for their actions. I don't care about their policies or whatever; when you send agents out to hurt people, that's not law enforcement, that's just plain wrong πŸ’”.

I'm loving how the community is rallying around Renee Good and her family ❀️. We need more of this kind of solidarity and less of ICE's toxic presence in our cities πŸ‘Š. Let's hope this sparks some real change and puts an end to these senseless killings πŸ”₯.

I feel so bad about what happened to Renee Nicole Good πŸ˜”. This whole thing is just a total mess. Philadelphia officials need to get serious about taking care of their citizens, you know? It's not right that an ICE agent got away with killing someone while driving down the street πŸš—. And those people talking about abolishing ICE are not crazy for wanting change - it seems like they're just trying to make sure everyone is held accountable for what they do πŸ’ͺ.

ICE needs to figure out a way to be more transparent and responsible, you know? It's time for some serious reform 🀝. But let's also give credit to the people of Philadelphia who are standing up for their rights - it takes courage to speak out against an agency that seems to have lost control πŸ—£οΈ.

I'm not sure what the future holds, but I do know one thing: it's time for us to talk about how we can create a safer and more just system for everyone πŸ’•.
