Nobel Peace Center says winner is still Machado after she presented Trump with medallion

The Nobel Peace Center has confirmed that the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize remains María Corina Machado, a Venezuelan opposition leader who was awarded the prize for her efforts to promote democracy and human rights in Venezuela. According to reports, Machado presented President Trump with the medallion at the White House on Thursday, sparking questions about the country's future.

Machado's award comes amid growing tensions between the US and Venezuela, which has been plagued by economic crisis and political instability. The Nobel Peace Prize is typically awarded annually by the Norwegian Nobel Committee to individuals or organizations who have made outstanding contributions to peace and conflict resolution.

Despite Trump's efforts to support Venezuela's opposition, many questions remain about the country's future, including the fate of its democracy and human rights. Machado's award has sparked debate among analysts and diplomats, with some hailing her as a champion of democracy and others criticizing what they see as US interference in Venezuela's internal affairs.

The Nobel Peace Center has stated that Machado's work continues to promote peace and democracy in Venezuela, and that she remains the winner of the prize. The award is seen by many as a recognition of Machado's tireless efforts to promote human rights and democracy in a country facing significant challenges.

In a statement, Olivia Rinaldi, CBS News White House reporter, said: "President Trump met with Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado at the White House on Thursday, as questions remain over the country's future. The Nobel Peace Center has confirmed that Machado remains the winner of the prize for her efforts to promote democracy and human rights in Venezuela."

The award comes amid growing tensions between the US and Venezuela, which has been plagued by economic crisis and political instability.

just saw this news 🤔... feels like a step forward but also some people might say its just politics as usual? 💸 still rooting for machado though, she seems to be doing something real with her work 💪

🤔 I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole thing... what's with the Nobel Peace Prize being awarded to someone who's kinda got a reputation for being super critical of the Venezuelan government? 🤷‍♀️ I mean, don't get me wrong, democracy and human rights are super important and all that jazz... but can't we just let the Venezuelans figure out their own stuff for once? 💁‍♀️ It feels like there's some sort of external influence at play here, and it makes me nervous. What's next, awarding prizes to people who've only met with Trump a few times? 😂 Anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is that while Machado's got some good intentions, we need to be careful not to interfere too much in Venezuela's internal affairs... 🤝

the whole thing is so messy 🤯... i mean, on one hand u got machado who's all about promoting democracy and human rights in venezuela, & the nobel peace center is like yay for her efforts 💪... but at the same time, there's this whole other side of the story where trump meets with machado @ the white house, which seems suspicious 🤔. i'm not saying trump is involved or anything, but it feels like us interference in venezuela's internal affairs is still a thing. & what about the economic crisis & political instability? does machado's award just ignore those issues altogether? 🤷‍♀️... or is it supposed to be some kinda recognition of her work while also acknowledging the challenges venezuela faces? idk, i'm torn 😒

OMG u guys!!! 🤯 so i was watching this vid on youtube last nite where maria corina machado was talking about her work in venezuela and it literally gave me chills 😊 she's so passionate and dedicated to promoting democracy and human rights in that country it's crazy how much she's been through but she still keeps going 💪 and i think it's amazing that trump accepted the prize from her even tho there's a lot of controversy surrounding it 🤔 like what does this mean for venezuela's future? only time will tell 😬

I'm not sure if it's a good idea for the Nobel Peace Prize winner to hand out the medallion at the White House like that... I mean, what does that even say about the state of democracy in Venezuela? 🤔 It feels like the US is just using Machado as a pawn in their own game of politics. And what's with all these questions about the country's future? Can't they make up their minds already? 😒

It's also weird how everyone is talking about this like it's some kind of big deal, but no one's actually addressing the root problems in Venezuela. I mean, Machado's work is great and all, but what about the rest of us who aren't connected to the opposition? Do we just get to sit back and watch while they figure everything out? 🤷‍♀️

I'm not saying Trump's efforts are bad or anything, but it feels like he's taking the opposite side. Like, if you're really going to support democracy in Venezuela, shouldn't you be doing more than just meeting with a single opposition leader and handing her a prize? 🏆

OMG, I'm literally so inspired by María Corina Machado 🤩! She's a total rockstar for standing up for what she believes in, even when it's tough 💪. I mean, can you imagine all the obstacles she's faced in Venezuela? It's amazing that she's still going strong and advocating for democracy and human rights 🌎. The Nobel Peace Prize is totally deserved, btw 🙌. Trump meeting with her at the White House was a great step towards supporting her work 💕. Let's keep cheering her on and promoting peace and democracy everywhere 🎉!
