Nine individuals have been taken into custody in connection with a large-scale sting operation targeting gang-motivated crime sprees in San Jose, according to authorities. The arrests were made between September and November, with the majority of the incidents linked to vandalism and firearms.
Detectives identified seven primary suspects, all from San Jose, including five men and four teenage boys. The group's crimes, which took place over several months, involved a range of activities, including theft, possession of narcotics, and the use of homemade explosives.
In one notable case, law enforcement officers searched the home of a 20-year-old man and discovered a loaded firearm, large quantities of narcotics, and two improvised explosive devices. The search also uncovered stolen firearms at each of the homes belonging to the four teenage boys who were subsequently arrested.
Three more arrests followed in December, as detectives took into custody two 18-year-old men, a 17-year-old boy, and a 14-year-old boy, all from San Jose. In addition, one of the 16-year-old boys' homes yielded a stolen firearm, and another arrest was made when a 33-year-old man on parole was taken into custody for an outstanding warrant.
The suspects have been booked into the Santa Clara County jail, with the four teenage boys being held in juvenile hall. Authorities are urging anyone with information related to these cases or similar incidents to come forward.
