Michigan lawmaker proposes ban on state property being used for ICE detention - Detroit Metro Times

I think this is a super reasonable idea 🤝... I mean, 32 people die in ICE custody last year? That's just heartbreaking 😔. It's crazy how some lawmakers don't seem to care about the human cost of their decisions. But at least Rep Wegela is taking action and standing up for what's right 💪. I'm all for preventing our state property from being used for detention facilities - it's just not right, you know? 🙅‍♀️ And yeah, I can see why he'd want to push back against fascism... it's a scary time we're living in 😟.

🤔 The fact that a state rep is taking action like this is actually kinda heartening 🙌. I mean, think about it, 32 people lost their lives in detention... that's just unacceptable. It sounds like Rep Wegela is trying to send a clear message that Michigan doesn't want any part of ICE's aggressive enforcement tactics 🚫. I get why he'd be motivated by the deaths, especially those of children - it's heartbreaking. And yeah, the fact that they're targeting state-sold property is a good move, it's like taking away their leverage 💪. It'll be interesting to see how this bill plays out and if other states start to follow suit 🤞.
