Man charged with raping and robbing 14-year-old girl in Manhattan

Man Arrested in Manhattan Rape and Robbery Case

A 33-year-old man has been taken into custody by New York City Police Department (NYPD) following allegations that he brutally assaulted a 14-year-old girl in her Stuyvesant Town apartment building. Germaine Parham was apprehended outside the city on Tuesday, but more details regarding his arrest are still coming to light.

According to police reports, Parham allegedly approached the teenager around 11:40 a.m. last Thursday and subjected her to a horrific act of sexual assault. The victim's phone was also stolen during the incident, with no further information available on its current whereabouts.

Parham is facing an array of serious charges, including rape, robbery, predatory sexual assault, kidnapping, sex abuse, and possession of criminal weapons. His lawyer has yet to be identified, as he is reportedly homeless.

This development marks a concerning trend in recent weeks, with the 13th Precinct – which includes StuyTown/Peter Cooper Village, Gramercy, Flatiron, and Union Square – experiencing a slight increase in reported rapes compared to the same period last year. The citywide statistics paint a more mixed picture, with an overall decline in reported rapes during the same timeframe.

As this case continues to unfold, police continue to emphasize their commitment to protecting citizens from such heinous crimes.

can we try to look at this situation from multiple angles? i mean, on one hand, it's absolutely despicable that a 14-year-old girl was subjected to such a brutal and traumatic experience. it's heartbreaking that she's had to go through this, especially in her own home.

at the same time, i worry about the fact that our justice system can be so slow to respond, especially when it comes to cases involving minors. we need to make sure that our systems are in place to support these young people and hold perpetrators accountable.

and what's concerning is that this incident has highlighted a broader issue - the increase in reported rapes in certain areas of the city. it's not just about the individual case, but also about how we can work together as a community to prevent such incidents from happening in the first place.

lets focus on supporting our young people and keeping them safe, while also ensuring that those who break the law are held accountable 💡

🚨 this is so disturbing and worrying... 14-year-old girl was just a kid when she got assaulted like that 🤕 it's not right that this guy is on the streets, homeless and now in custody, but what about the kids who can't even walk down the street without being scared? 💔 NYC needs to do more to prevent these kinds of cases and support victims like this girl... 13th precinct should get more funding and resources to tackle this issue 😊

I'm really worried about these cases lately 🤕. It feels like we're taking two steps forward and one step back when it comes to keeping our kids safe. I mean, 14 is way too young for any of this to happen. And the fact that they have to lock their doors and windows just to feel secure? It's just not right.

I'm also thinking about how times were different back in my day. We didn't even have phones like that, remember? Our parents used landlines or had to go to a payphone if we needed to make an emergency call. And now we're living with the consequences of that. I guess it's just part of progress, but sometimes I wish things could go back to being simpler.

I hope this guy gets what he deserves and that our city can get its priorities straight again 🙏. It's not just about locking up bad people; it's about creating a community where everyone feels safe and valued.

Ugh, what's next? Some dude just walks into a 14-year-old's apartment building and rips her apart like she's nothing 🤯😱. And now the cops are saying it's happening more often in this one precinct? No wonder nobody wants to go to StuyTown anymore... they're gonna have to increase security, but we all know how well that works out 😒. Poor kid, what did she even do to deserve this?! 🤷‍♀️ And the fact that her phone is MIA just because some loser didn't bother reporting it stolen? Great, now she's got no way to prove a thing... justice is soooo not on her side right now 😩.

just when u think things can't get worse... another one of these cases hits and its all over the news 🤯 meanwhile, how about some real solutions to tackle this problem? just arresting ppl doesn't make everything better. it's like the system is just reacting instead of really trying to solve the issue. what's with the homelessness thing? cant we be doing more to prevent ppl from getting into these situations in the first place? and by the way, 14 is not a kid anymore, its a teenager, come on 🙄

Ugh, can't believe this is still happening in our city 🤕... I mean, 33 years old and a grown man thinking it's okay to go around assaulting minors? The fact that the victim was just 14 is what really gets me - she's probably already going through so much trauma. And on top of that, her phone got stolen too... that's just not fair 😡. I'm glad they caught him, but we gotta make sure our justice system is doing everything it can to keep these kids safe and get them the help they need. And what's with this homelessness thing? If he couldn't find a lawyer, maybe he should've looked for one before committing such heinous crimes 🤔...

This is getting out of hand... I mean, have you seen the state of our mental health services lately? It's like we're not doing enough to support vulnerable kids and teens. I'm all for holding people accountable, but this guy's been on the streets for years and we should be helping him get back on his feet instead of just locking him up. It's a classic case of failing to address systemic issues. And what about our education system? How can we expect kids to learn about consent and healthy relationships if they're not getting proper guidance in school? We need to rethink the way we approach crime and punishment, and prioritize prevention over punishment.

😱🚔💣 that's so sad what happened to that girl she's only 14 🤕👧♀️ 😢 why did it have to happen to her? 🤷‍♂️ this case is giving me the chills 😳 and to think there are more cases like this happening in our city 🌆😨 I'm glad the police are working hard to catch the bad guy 👮‍♂️💪 they need to get him behind bars ASAP ⚖️ justice for that girl 🤝

🤯 another scumbag off the streets... i mean, what's new? 14 years old is way too young for any of that stuff 😷. Can't believe some people think it's okay to take advantage of minors like that. Like, hello! You're not even human yet, kid! 🚫

And great job on the NYPD, by the way... apprehending someone from outside the city? What a waste of resources... i mean, credit to the police for making an arrest, I guess 😐. Stolen phone? Nice touch. Like it's going to make up for what he did... 🤪

We need more people like Germaine Parham in jail ASAP 💥. And seriously, where's the justice system on this one? Homeless lawyer and all? Come on! 💁‍♀️

🚨 This guy's got some serious screws loose if he thinks he can just go around raping and robbing some kid... I mean, what kind of twisted mind would do that? 🤯 And the fact that he was homeless and no one knew his lawyer yet? That just screams 'opportunity for cover-up' to me. And all these new age tech companies are always going on about how they're gonna 'help' us by tracking everything we do, but what's really being done to stop scum like this guy? 🤷‍♂️ I still don't trust any of these high-tech solutions, just more ways for the man to control and manipulate. Give me good old fashioned human cops on the street any day... 💡

Ugh man this is so messed up 🤕. I'm all for holding people accountable but can't we just have some kinda system in place that helps these kids before they even become victims? Like, what if the 13-year-old girl had a support hotline or something to call for help instead of being out cold in her apartment building? And what's up with the NYPD knowing Parham was homeless and still letting him roam free for who knows how long? 😔

And another thing, I'm not sure if it's just me but it feels like we're always hearing about these cases after they've already happened. Where's the prevention? 🤔 The education? It's like we're only reacting to the tragedy instead of trying to prevent it in the first place.

I know this is a super grim topic, but can't we talk about ways to improve our systems and support our kids instead of just focusing on punishment? 🤷‍♂️ We need to do better than this.

man get what's coming to him 🤯♂️, 33 and still think he can just take advantage of some poor kid? my heart goes out to the victim and her family 🤕, hope they get the justice they deserve soon. police are doing a great job keeping our city safe 💪, don't know what we'd do without 'em. been seeing this trend in other areas too, seems like some ppl think they can just commit these heinous crimes and get away with it... not on my watch 🚫, anyone who does is gonna face the full force of the law

omg this is so crazy! like what's going on with these young ppl? can't they just leave each other alone? i feel so bad for that little girl though 🤕 and poor Germaine, homeless and stuff... maybe he needs some help or something? anyway, 14?! that's way too old to be doing this kind of thing... like what's the deal with NYC and all these crimes lately? is it just more ppl being out and about at night or what? 🤔

man, 33 and already in big trouble 🤦‍♂️, like what's next? gonna get arrested for being out of date? 😂 anywayz, gotta give it to the NYPD for finally catching up with this dude, hope the 14-year-old is doin' alright tho 💔 and btw, homeless lawyer? that's a new one 🤣

Ugh, this is getting out of hand 🤯! Another sicko thinking they can just come into some girl's pad and do whatever they want? And on top of that, the fact that his lawyer is homeless? Like, what even is going on here?! 🙄 It's like we're living in a never-ending nightmare. And don't even get me started on the stats - an increase in reported rapes in one precinct?! What's being done to address this issue besides making more arrests and hoping for the best? We need real change, not just Band-Aid solutions 💔

omg i'm still shaking thinking about that poor 14 yr old girl 😱🤕 what's wrong with people man?! 🤔 germaine parham is so lucky to be alive after doing all that to her and stealing her phone too😒 u can't just assault someone like that and get away with it easy 💁‍♀️ the fact that he's homeless now is a small consolation for the victim and her family 🙏 police should really get him help ASAP 🚔💕

Ugh I'm so worried about these cases 🤕, it's like our society is just not doing enough to keep our youth safe especially at a time when they're vulnerable online too... and this case where the guy was homeless, I feel bad for him but his circumstances shouldn't have made him think he could do this to someone 😩. I mean we need more resources for mental health support and counseling programs in schools to help prevent these kinds of situations from happening in the first place 💡. And what's up with the stats, a slight increase in one precinct? It's like we're not taking it seriously enough 🤔. We need to come together as a community to make sure our kids feel safe going about their daily lives 👫.

Ugh 😟, just heard about this super disturbing news... it's crazy that some ppl can be so cruel & violent towards others, especially a minor girl 🤕. I feel like we need more support for victims of rape & abuse, 'cause it's not just the physical harm that's devastating, but also the emotional trauma that stays with them forever 💔. And what's with the rise in reported rapes lately? It's like, are we doing enough to keep our communities safe? I hope Parham gets a fair trial and justice is served, but at the same time, I wish more ppl would speak out against such violence & support each other 🤝.

This is just so heartbreaking 🤕... thinking about that poor 14-year-old girl who's had to go through all this trauma... it's like, what even is the world coming to? 🌎 And the fact that there are more cases popping up in areas with a high population density, like Manhattan, just makes you wonder if we're not doing enough to support our youth and keep them safe 😔. I mean, Germaine Parham was homeless, which already puts him at a disadvantage... it's like, society is supposed to be looking out for its most vulnerable members, but sometimes it feels like they're the ones getting left behind 🚪. Anyway, I guess we just have to keep pushing forward and hope that justice gets served eventually... 💫
