I think this is kinda crazy! I mean, Los Lobos has been around for ages, and they've made some amazing music that people all over the world love. They're basically fighting for what's rightfully theirs - their fair share of royalties from their songs being used in movies and stuff. It's not like they're asking for the moon here! They just want to make sure they get paid properly, especially since they know some of those songs are super popular and streamy these days. The fact that Sony Pictures Entertainment has been accused of breaching contracts is pretty serious too... but I'm hoping they can work something out and come to a settlement. Maybe this will even inspire other artists to stand up for themselves?
omg what's going on here!!! Los Lobos is getting screwed over by Sony like for real! They're talking huge sums of money we're talkin $1.5 mil and up to $2.75 mil and they're just sitting there collecting royalties without even accounting for the rest of the world it's like Sony thinks they can just pocket all that cash and not have to give Los Lobos their fair share I mean come on, a 600 million streams and you're only giving them $500k? That's insane! The fact that Cesar Rosas wrote "Canción del Mariachi" for Desperado and Sony still managed to screw it up is just laughable Los Lobos needs to get their due and get that money ASAP
just crazy how los lobos got screwed by sony all these years they were all in on that la bamba movie back in '87 like 40 yrs ago and yet now it's only coming around when they wanna sue for some big bucks $2.75m is a lot of dough, gotta feel bad for the band though, they worked hard on those songs
I'm low-key shocked that Los Lobos is taking Sony to court over this They're basically saying they've been robbed blind by their own record label The numbers are crazy – $1.5 million just for La Bamba and Desperado? That's a small fortune, especially considering the album was double platinum in 15 countries. I feel bad for the band, though; it's like they're stuck in limbo with all these unpaid royalties piling up . And can you believe Sony is being accused of "egregious" accounting practices? Not cool, guys. Maybe this lawsuit will get some changes made and more artists get their fair share
I'm totally on the side of Sony here . I mean, come on, Los Lobos has been making music for decades, they should've done their research before signing with a major label in the first place. They're not exactly innocent victims here. If anything, this whole lawsuit just sounds like another case of artists trying to renege on old deals and expect everyone else to pick up the tab . And let's be real, 600 million streams is a pretty decent chunk of change - they should be grateful Sony's taking care of them all these years . I don't think they're entitled to 24% of whatever licensing fees come their way... that just sounds like a recipe for disaster
