I'm just gonna say it, this new adaptation of Lord of the Flies is a bit too real for its own good
. I mean, who wants to watch a bunch of kids descend into savagery on a deserted island? It's like they're showing us our own worst selves and I'm not sure if that's a good thing or what
. And don't even get me started on the toxic masculinity vibes – it feels like the show is just rubbing it in our faces, like "hey, we've been warning you about this for years"
.
And what's with all the close-ups of those poor kid's faces? It's like they're trying to make us feel guilty or something
. I mean, I get that the show is trying to expose the dark side of human nature and all, but can't it just leave some things unsaid?
I'm just not sure if this adaptation is worth the discomfort it's supposed to bring. Is it some kind of social commentary or just a bunch of kids screaming at each other in the woods?
