Loop review – this warped tale of sexual fantasies could be wilder

A Warped Fantasies: 'Loop' Falls Short of Its Potential

In this thought-provoking monologue, Tanya-Loretta Dee delves into the complexities of limerence – an all-consuming infatuation that tips over into darkness and destruction. The production promises much, but ultimately falls short due to its inability to ignite a firestorm of intensity.

Dee's performance is a highlight, as she crafts an intimate rapport with the audience through witty asides. She also brings depth to her supporting characters, particularly Greta, her harried best friend, and her enigmatic mother. However, James, Bex's on-again, off-again love interest, remains a one-dimensional caricature – a brutish figure whose malevolence makes it difficult to invest in their tumultuous relationship.

Dee herself is restrained, never fully surrendering to the turmoil brewing beneath her character's skin. Instead, the production relies on its set and lighting design to create an eerie atmosphere. Mydd Pharo's barren wasteland, complete with long grass and grotty mattresses, is a visually striking backdrop for Cheng Keng's restless lighting design.

Despite these impressive visual elements, Director Sophie Ellerby seems reluctant to fully unleash the chaos and darkness that lies beneath this script. The result is a production that feels curiously controlled, never quite allowing itself to get swept up in the maelstrom of Bex's inner turmoil.

Ultimately, 'Loop' is a thought-provoking exploration of the fine line between desire and destruction. While it falls short of its full potential, Dee's performance and the production's visual aesthetic are enough to leave a lasting impression – a haunting reminder that sometimes, the most destructive forces can be our own.

I gotta say, I was really hyped for 'Loop' but honestly felt like I missed out on something special. Tanya-Loretta Dee is super talented and really brings the drama to life 🤯. The set design and lighting are straight fire 🔥, it's like you're right there in the midst of Bex's emotional whirlwind. But at the same time, I felt like Sophie Ellerby was playing it way too safe - I wanted more intensity, more chaos! It's like they were waiting for the audience to jump on board rather than taking risks themselves 🤔. Still, Dee's performance is worth checking out, she really gives it her all 💯.

I dunno if I agree with this review 🤔... like, I get what the writer is saying about James being a one-dimension character, but I think he's more than that - his brutishness is actually meant to make Bex (and us) uncomfortable, you feel? And I'm not sure about Dee's restraint, I kinda liked how her performance was intimate and witty, like you said 🤗. But what really got me thinking is that maybe the production is trying to say something more than just "Bex's inner turmoil" - it's exploring how our darker desires can take over us, and that's a pretty wild idea 🔥

I just watched 'Loop' 🤔😐 and I'm still trying to process how underwhelming it was for me. The set design was on point 👏, but it felt like they were just showcasing all these cool visuals without really letting them do the heavy lifting. Tanya-Loretta Dee's performance was pretty great though - she has this way of making you feel all her emotions and it was really captivating to watch her 🤗. The problem is, the whole production feels kinda... controlled? Like, they're trying to make a statement about desire and destruction but they never quite go all in on it. It's like they're holding back just when we need them to get wild 😩. Still, I do love a good thought-provoking drama and 'Loop' did leave me with a lot to think about 💭. Maybe it was just the timing 🤷‍♀️?

I mean, I was really hyped for this production - it looked so visually stunning with those eerie lighting designs 🌑. But, honestly, I felt like it was all just surface level... like, how much depth could they possibly bring to this story? Dee's performance was cool and all, but James, dude, he was so underdeveloped 🤦‍♂️. I wanted more tension, more conflict, more of a sense of danger looming over Bex's life... instead it just felt kinda predictable. And don't even get me started on how they handled the themes - it was like they were trying to be all profound and stuff but ended up being kinda shallow 🤷‍♀️. I guess what I'm saying is, 'Loop' had some nice moments, but overall it felt like it missed its mark 😐

omg I agree with this review 1000% 🙌 they totally butchered the script, made James into such a one-dimensional creep 😒 and don't even get me started on the lack of emotional release for Bex's character 🤯 it would've been so much more impactful if Dee had fully surrendered to her character's turmoil 🔥 also that set design is straight fire 🔪 I mean, who thought it was a good idea to have a barren wasteland as the backdrop tho? 🤷‍♀️

I gotta say tho 🤔, I'm a bit disappointed in 'Loop'. I mean, the set design is 🔥, no doubt about it. But like, where's the edge? Where's the real drama? It feels like they're just playing it safe and not taking any risks. And I get what you're saying about James being a one-dimentional character tho 🤷‍♂️, I was literally rolling my eyes when he came on screen. But at the same time, I can see why Tanya-Loretta Dee's performance is getting so much hype... she does bring this level of depth to her characters that's really cool 😎. Anyway, it's like they're trying to create this intense, dark vibe but not quite pulling it off 🌑. Still worth a watch tho, just don't expect me to be all emotional about it 😜

I think what really stood out to me was how the show struggled with finding that balance between intensity and control 🤔. It's like, when we're really diving deep into our emotions, it's easy to get caught up in the chaos, but sometimes we need to let go and just feel the storm rage on 💥. The production had some amazing visuals, but they felt a bit like a facade, you know? Like, they were trying to create this intense atmosphere, but it didn't quite reach the character's emotional depth 🌫️. Still, I think that's what makes it such a great reflection – we can all relate to feeling like our own darkness is consuming us, and sometimes just acknowledging it is the first step towards healing 💖.

omg i was really hyped for 'loop' but after watching it i'm like... meh 🤔 it had some great moments but overall it felt so safe and controlled idk what went wrong, maybe they were trying to avoid being too intense? dee's performance tho is EVERYTHING 💖 she brought so much depth to her characters, esp greta, that one actress is so underrated! 💁‍♀️ the set design was super creepy too 😱 but yeah, james just felt like a generic villain 🤷‍♂️ can we get more nuance in our love interests pls? 🙄

I'm defo not surprised that 'Loop' didn't quite live up to expectations 🤔. I mean, have you seen the trailer? It was giving me some serious 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind' vibes 💫, but upon watching it, I just wasn't feeling the emotional depth. Tanya-Loretta Dee is actually really talented tho 💁‍♀️, she brought so much depth to her character that I rooted for her till the end. But yeah, the supporting characters were a bit meh 🤷‍♀️, especially James... he was like, woah what's up with this guy?! 😂

🤔 I was really looking forward to 'Loop' but it kinda fell flat for me 😐. Tanya-Loretta Dee is super talented and her performance is like 🔥, but the rest of the production just didn't live up to its hype 🤷‍♀️. The set design was mind-blowing tho 👀, especially with those grotty mattresses 🚽... who knew that could be so eerie? 😅 The main issue is that it feels kinda controlled, like Sophie Ellerby is holding back on the chaos and darkness that's supposed to be there 💔. I think if they'd let go a bit more, it could've been something truly special 💫

aww man i feel you 🤕 this show sounds so intense but also kinda let down by the director not fully embracing the darkness 🌑 dean dee is talented as always tho 😊 her character's struggles resonated with me on a deep level, it's like she tapped into the chaos that we all try to keep hidden inside 💖 but yeah, the supporting cast could've used more depth 👫 james was just too one-dimensional for my taste 🤦‍♀️ what do you think?

omg u gotta see this new play its like sooo thought-provoking 🤯 but idk if it really delivered i mean dee is low-key amazing as tanya-loretta she has this intimate vibe with the audience 👀 and her characters r all so well developed except jamez he feels like a cardboard cutout lol what really got me tho was the set design its like this whole barren wasteland that just adds to the tension 🌵 but director ellerby held back on getting too wild i feel like it should've been more intense 😬 still, dee's performance and visuals are def worth checking out 👍

I just watched 'Loop' 🤔 and I gotta say, Tanya-Loretta Dee is a total rockstar 💥 - she has this crazy energy that's just infectious! The set design was straight out of a fever dream, all those long grasses and grotty mattresses... it was like walking into a bad acid trip 😷. But what really got me was how they tried to tackle the darker themes of limerence. It felt like they were toeing the line between exploring the depths of human psychology and just playing it safe 🤞. Still, I guess that's what makes 'Loop' so thought-provoking - it's not afraid to take risks, even if it doesn't quite hit the mark 😐.

I gotta say, I was really hyped for "Loop" but it feels like it missed the mark 🤔. Tanya-Loretta Dee is on point as always and her chemistry with the supporting cast is fire 🔥! But James's character just felt so one-dimensional to me, I mean where's the depth? And I get what the director was going for with the set design but sometimes less is more, you know? The tension should've been way more palpable 📺. Still, it's a good watch if you're into that sorta vibe and Dee's performance will leave you feeling all the feels 😩.

🤔 I mean, I gotta say, this 'Loop' thingy is just another overhyped production in my opinion 😒. It's all about these fancy visuals and some talented actress doing her thing, but where's the real substance? 📺 The plot feels super predictable and shallow, like it's just setting up for some emotional rollercoaster ride. And don't even get me started on the "chaos and darkness" – I'm not buying it 💔. It just seems like they're trying to create a mood without actually delving into the depths of their characters' emotions. Can't help but feel like something's missing from this whole thing... 🤷‍♂️

just watched loop with my squad and i gotta say, tanya-loretta dee is EVERYTHING 😍 her character's turmoil feels so relatable, you know? but the male lead was meh 🤷‍♀️ and the director played it safe, like they were waiting for someone to tell them how intense it should be. still, those visuals tho! mydd pharo's set design is like something out of a dystopian novel 📚 and cheng keng's lighting? wow 😲 i get what the show was going for but yeah, it didn't quite ignite that firestorm 💥.

idk what all the fuss is about 🤔 lol loop fell flat 4 me its like director sophie ellerby was tryna play it safe 🛡️ instead of goin all out w/ that dark & twisted vibe. tanya-loretta dee's performance tho 👏 she brought life 2 her character & created this eerie atmosphere w/ the set & lighting 💡 but james's character was whack 😒 cant blame director ellerby 4 not developin him more 👎 still, its a decent watch if u ask me 👍

idk what i'm supposed to do with this show lol... sounds like they had some awesome ideas but just played it super safe? dee's character is lowkey my spirit animal tho 🤷‍♀️ her wit and banter are literally the best part of the whole thing. but omg james is so one dimensional, how can u make a love interest that bland? 🙄 & i'm still tryna figure out what the director was goin for with this production... felt like they were just phoning it in? 😐
