Kwame Brathwaite, photographer of ‘Black is Beautiful’ movement, dies at 85 | CNN

:( just heard about Kwame Brathwaite passin away at 85 🙏. He was like a true pioneer in the fight against racism and for Black self-love & pride 💪. I grew up learnin about his work & how it inspired so many people to see beauty in themselves & their communities. His legacy lives on through all the artists & activists he inspired, and we can all take a page outta his book to challenge societal norms & promote positivity 🌟. Can't believe another hero of our time is gone 🙄

Just saw this news about Kwame Brathwaite 🙏... can you imagine what it would be like if we had more artists like him celebrating our diversity instead of hiding behind conforming to unrealistic standards? His legacy is still so much love and pride in our culture, I'm feeling all the feels 😊. As someone who's super into self-care and mindfulness, his photography is like a breath of fresh air - it's all about embracing your true self and loving every inch of you! 💖

man i was just thinking about my aunt's birthday party last weekend 🎉, you know how she always makes those amazing vegan cupcakes? anyway, it got me thinking about the importance of representation in media, like Kwame Brathwaite did with his photography... it's crazy to think about how far we've come since the 60s but there's still so much work to be done 🤯. and have you ever noticed how some old photos can transport you back in time? my grandma has this old collection of Polaroids from the 70s that are just fascinating...
