You can't start the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading the last one . Ben Edge's story is proof that rediscovering ourselves is just as important as embracing our roots. His art isn't about nostalgia but about creating a new narrative for the future - and I think we could all learn from that
I'm low-key obsessed w/ this new exhibition at Fitzrovia Chapel Ben Edge's art is like, totally vibe-ing with our times ya know? The way he weaves together Brit folklore & mythology to create a tapestry of unity & inclusivity is SO needed right now He's not just tapping into the past for nostalgia, but using it as a bridge to build a better future I mean, who wouldn't want to reconnect with nature & find solace in the cyclical rhythms of life? It's like he's saying that our mental health (and the planet's) are all tied together And can we talk about how his art is giving us a radical alternative to the fractured narratives that dominate our discourse today? Edge's message is EVERYTHING, and I'm so here for it
I'm so down with this "emphasizing the past" vibe... Like, who needs some fancy eco-friendly future when we can just revisit what's already worked? Ben Edge's whole thing about reconnecting with nature is just a bunch of tree-hugging hippie nonsense. What he's really doing is tapping into our shared history and using it to create this sense of... nostalgia, I guess? It's all super "uniting the world" and whatnot, but I'm over it. Can't we just make art that's, like, totally unique and stuff instead of relying on ancient myths and legends?
I dont get why people are making such a big deal about this guy reconnecting with nature . Like, what's so special about wassailing and morris dancing? Is it just gonna save the planet or something? I mean, I know he's trying to be all poetic and stuff but it feels like just another example of how art can be used to sell some fancy idea . And whats with the lockdowns being a "seismic shift" in mindset? Like, did people really forget about nature before COVID-19 happened or something? Anyway, I guess its cool that he's trying to bring folk traditions back into the mix, but is it just gonna be another trend or what?
