'I live for playing cops and robbers!' Martin Compston on love, Las Vegas and the new Line of Duty

Martin Compston, the hero of Line of Duty, reveals he "lives for playing cops and robbers" in an interview that showcases his versatility as a performer. While awaiting the new season of Line of Duty, fans will see him in two roles: The Revenge Club and Red Eye.

In The Revenge Club, Martin plays a key role alongside Aimee-Ffion Edwards. The show's setting is a support group for divorcees who have been wronged by their ex-partners. Compston notes that the characters' desperation and loneliness create an explosive mix. The acts of revenge undertaken by the group against one ex at a time start off mild but escalate to life-threatening situations.

Compston praises his co-star, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, for bringing chaotic charisma to her role, which sets The Revenge Club apart from other shows. Compston explains that he learned about this approach from director Ken Loach and has incorporated it into his work. "If you've got an excitement about what you're doing and enthusiasm for what you're doing, the audience will come with you," he says.

The Revenge Club is available now on Paramount+.

In Red Eye, Martin plays a head of security at the American embassy in London during a terrorist attack. The show draws on his qualities as DI Arnott from Line of Duty, such as charisma and purpose. Compston describes playing this role as "brilliant fun" because it involves action, dialogue, and a sense of urgency.

Compston is starting to think about producing, finding the work exciting but also requiring different skills than acting. He is intrigued by the idea of bringing stories like Allan Pinkerton's biography to life on screen.

Martin Compston will be appearing in Red Eye on ITV1 New Year's Day at 9pm.

omg I just watched Line of Duty and I'm so invested in DI Arnott 🀯, but now I'm curious about The Revenge Club 😬, what's with the show? It sounds kinda dark... is it like a thriller or something? πŸŽ₯ btw, I love Martin Compston as an actor, he's so talented! πŸ‘

I'm loving the versatility of Martin Compston, he's absolutely killing it in The Revenge Club 🀯. I mean, who wouldn't want to watch a show about a support group for divorcees seeking revenge against their exes? It sounds like a real wild ride 😱. And let's be real, having Aimee-Ffion Edwards on board as his co-star is a total game changer. She brings this chaotic charisma that just elevates the whole show.

I'm also stoked to see him in Red Eye, playing that head of security role sounds like so much fun πŸŽ‰. It's amazing how he can just switch gears from one character to another and still bring that same level of charisma to it. And I have to say, I'm really interested in his thoughts on producing - it's a whole new world for him, but he seems excited to dive in πŸ“Ί.

It's always great to see actors taking risks and trying out new things, and Martin Compston is definitely doing that with The Revenge Club and Red Eye. Can't wait to check them both out!

Sounds like Martin Compston's got a lot on his plate 🀯. The Revenge Club sounds intense, but I'm not sure I'd want to be part of a support group for wronged exes 😬. At least he's having fun with Red Eye, playing that head of security role... it's always cool to see actors tap into their previous work and make something new from it πŸŽ₯.

You know what really gets me? He's talking about bringing Alan Pinkerton's story to life on screen, I'm all for it! I remember reading about that guy's adventures as a detective in the Wild West, it's like something out of a movie. Compston's enthusiasm is infectious, I can already imagine him pulling off an epic performance.

Anyway, I'll be keeping an eye on The Revenge Club and Red Eye, especially since they're both available now on different platforms. πŸ‘€
