Highguard, a hyperpop arena shooter and other new indie games worth checking out

The Nintendo Switch version of the game Dispatch was released recently, but it's notable for its censorship differences compared to other platforms. On non-Switch versions, users can opt to censor explicit content, while on Switch, such content is censored by default, with black rectangles covering up characters' bodies and a more pronounced "flipping the bird" gesture.

This discrepancy has raised questions about Nintendo's content guidelines and how they apply to different games released on their platforms. The situation serves as a reminder that console manufacturers often have specific rules in place for the types of content allowed on their systems.

On a separate note, new indie games are worth checking out this week. Highguard is a 3v3 raid shooter from Wildlight Entertainment, featuring a unique blend of hero shooter and MOBA elements. The game has been getting attention for its fast-paced gameplay and snappy gunplay, although it may not be a standout in the arena shooter genre.

Another new release to consider is Don't Stop, Girlypop!, an arena shooter with chaotic hyperpop-inspired visuals. While the game's aesthetic is undoubtedly eye-catching, the gameplay experience fell short of expectations for some players, who found the visual clutter and fast pace overwhelming. However, customization options and a fun soundtrack are definite positives.

Cairn is also out now on PS5 and Steam, offering an isometric climbing adventure with procedurally generated worlds and "massive events" that threaten your entire world. This game seems to have broadened in its appeal, offering both solo and co-op gameplay for those who enjoy the thrill of scaling massive structures.

Upcoming indie releases include Space Warlord Baby Trading Simulator, a stock market sim where you speculate on babies' futures; I Hate This Place, an isometric survival game with a comic book aesthetic; Rebadge, a puzzle platformer that draws inspiration from games like Baba Is You; and Good Boy, a petroidvania with a creature-collecting twist.

omg i love how Nintendo always puts the kid first ๐Ÿคฃ i dont mind the censored switch version of dispatch at all! its cute how they try to cover up those "mature themes" ๐Ÿ™ƒ anyway im so hyped for new indie games this week!! highguard and don't stop girlypop sounds like so much fun ๐Ÿ˜† cant wait to check them out!! and oh my goodness cairn is so cool i love the idea of procedurally generated worlds ๐ŸŒ whats your fave game release so far?

idk why nintendo can't just let players decide for themselves if they wanna see some risquรฉ content ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. i mean, it's not like they're gonna be playing the game on their kid's console or anything... but at the same time, it's a bit weird that they're censoring it by default. maybe they should just have a toggle for it or something? also, have you tried any of these new indie games this week? i'm kinda curious about highguard - that 3v3 raid shooter sounds like so much fun! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

omg, i'm so confused about the Nintendo Switch version of Dispatch ๐Ÿค”. who thought it was a good idea to censor explicit content by default? ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ like, isn't that what the 'opt in' option is for? and why do they have these weird black rectangles covering up characters? ๐Ÿ˜’ it's just so...different.

anyway, new games are always cool! i've been eyeing Highguard ๐Ÿค–, seems pretty intense. but don't stop girlypop!'s visuals are WILD ๐ŸŽ‰, maybe too much for me, tbh. cairn looks really fun, tho ๐Ÿ”๏ธ, the isometric climbing thing sounds so satisfying.

and what's up with space warlord baby trading simulator? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ i don't even know where to start ๐Ÿ˜‚. these new releases have me excited, but also kinda overwhelmed ๐Ÿคฏ. anyone play rebadge or good boy yet? ๐Ÿ‘€

omg u gotta check out this new indie game highguard lol it's like a mix of hero shooter and MOBA but with some crazy fast gameplay ๐Ÿคฏ i mean it's not gonna blow ur mind or anything but its def fun to play w/ friends online ๐Ÿ’ป they're also coming out w/ don't stop girlypop! which looks super colorful but i heard the gameplay was kinda overwhelming for some people ๐Ÿคช cairn sounds pretty cool though, idk about the procedurally generated worlds tho ๐ŸŒ gotta check out space warlord baby trading simulator 1st tho lol "speculating on babies' futures" sounds like a wild time ๐Ÿ˜‚

You know what's crazy? They're still making consoles where you can't even control how much nudity shows up on screen... I mean, i'm all for freedom of expression and all that, but can't we just have some flexibility here? Like, is it really that hard to leave the 'nudity filter' option in?

Anyway, back to games... have you guys tried playing with a pet? My cat's been doing this crazy thing where she curls up on my keyboard when I'm trying to play, and now I have to start every game over because of her. It's pretty funny ๐Ÿ˜‚.

I feel like Nintendo's approach to content guidelines can be kinda harsh sometimes ๐Ÿค”... I mean, censorship for the Switch version of Dispatch is already giving players some options, but using black rectangles as a replacement could be a bit much ๐Ÿ˜ณ. At least they're being clear about it, right? ๐Ÿ™

But anyway, let's talk about these new indie games! Highguard sounds like a blast to play with its fast-paced action and customization options ๐Ÿ’ฅ... I'm curious to try Don't Stop, Girlypop! out for its visuals alone โ€“ those hyperpop-inspired graphics are calling my name ๐ŸŽ‰. Cairn seems like a great option for solo players looking for an adventure, but co-op gameplay could be where it shines ๐Ÿค.

And then there's these other titles... Space Warlord Baby Trading Simulator is already giving me existential crises about the state of adulthood ๐Ÿ˜‚, while I Hate This Place sounds like my type of dark humor ๐Ÿ˜…. Rebadge and Good Boy seem solid puzzle-platformers, but I'll need to try them out for myself ๐Ÿค”.

All in all, it's exciting to see more indie games hitting the scene! ๐ŸŽฎ

I THINK IT'S CRAZY THAT NINTENDO HAS DIFFERENT CONTENT GUIDELINES FOR THE SWITCH COMPARED TO OTHER CONSOLES!! I mean, what's the point of even having options for censored content if you're just gonna default to it on the Switch?! It's like they want to control every aspect of our gaming experience ๐Ÿคฏ. And don't even get me started on how annoying those black rectangles are... i MEAN WHO PUT THOSE THERE, ANYWAY? ๐Ÿ˜‚

๐Ÿค” I'm telling ya, this Nintendo Switch thingy... it's all about control, you know? They're messing with our minds, one game at a time. First, they censored that Dispatch game, now they're being all secretive about their content guidelines. What are they hiding, huh? ๐Ÿค‘ It's like, why the difference on other platforms? Are they trying to shape public opinion or something? ๐Ÿคซ And don't even get me started on this indie game stuff... Highguard sounds cool and all, but is it too little, too late? Or maybe Cairn is the one that'll blow us away. But, you know what's really got my attention? Space Warlord Baby Trading Simulator... babies as stock market speculators? It just feels too good to be true... ๐Ÿ˜‚

man... Nintendo's got some weird standards when it comes to content curation ๐Ÿค”. I mean, you can basically opt out of the censorship on other platforms but Switch just goes full-on auto-censorship ๐Ÿšซ? like what even is that? and don't even get me started on how it affects gameplay experience... black rectangles are so last gen ๐Ÿ˜‚.

anywayz, indie games this week tho! got some cool ones to check out ๐Ÿค“. highguard looks like a sick raid shooter with fast-paced action ๐Ÿ”ซ, but I heard the gameplay might not be that unique in the genre? still worth a shot for fans of arena shooters though ๐Ÿ’ฅ. don't stop girlypop's visuals are straight fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ but maybe got a bit too much to handle for some players ๐Ÿ˜….

on a more interesting note, cairn looks like it could be an awesome isometric adventure ๐Ÿ”๏ธ with procedurally generated worlds and epic events โšก๏ธ. solo or co-op gameplay sounds like a great combo for fans of climbing adventures ๐Ÿค. can't wait to try out some of the other new indie releases too... space warlord baby simulator, you? ๐Ÿค‘

I can imagine how frustrating it must be to play a game on Switch and have explicit content just... hidden ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜’. Like, I get it, Nintendo wants to keep their family-friendly vibe going, but shouldn't we just be able to choose what's censored? ๐Ÿ™„ It's like they're being extra protective of our eyeballs or something ๐Ÿ˜‚.

omg yaaas i just tried dispatch on switch and i'm lowkey bummed about the censorship lol those black rectangles are so awkward ๐Ÿคฃ anyway, it's crazy how console manufacturers have these strict rules for content and you don't even get to choose what gets censored ๐Ÿ™„

btw, has anyone played highguard? i heard it's super fast-paced and fun ๐ŸŽฎ but also kinda same-old same-old in the arena shooter genre ๐Ÿ˜ด

and omg space warlord baby trading simulator sounds SO weird and funny lol can't wait to try it out ๐Ÿคฃ

omg, can't believe they censored explicit content on the Switch version of Dispatch ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ‘Ž. i mean, what's up with that? other platforms let us opt out, so why not on the Switch too? ๐Ÿ˜ it just seems like a weird exception to me... and btw, any devs out there got some insight on this? ๐Ÿค”

anywayz, have you guys checked out Highguard yet? โšก๏ธ it looks super fun! fast-paced gameplay and snappy gunplay is right up my alley ๐Ÿ’ฅ. don't stop girlypop! sounds like a wild ride... but visual clutter can be overwhelming ๐Ÿ˜ฉ. on the flip side, customization options and that sick soundtrack are major wins ๐ŸŽต.

also, cairn seems super interesting ๐Ÿค” procedurally generated worlds and massive events? yeah, sign me up ๐Ÿ”๏ธ. solo or co-op gameplay is always a win in my book ๐Ÿ‘ซ. can't wait to dive into some of these new indie releases ๐Ÿ”ฅ

omg can you believe nintendo's censorship on the switch version of dispatch? i mean i get it they gotta keep it family friendly but censored by default is still pretty harsh ๐Ÿคฃ what's up with the black rectangles covering up characters' bodies tho? like a bad meme or something. anywayz back to games... have anyone played highguard or don't stop, girlypop?! heard they're kinda meh but fun to play with friends ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

I'm so confused about the Nintendo Switch version of Dispatch... ๐Ÿค” I mean, why can't they just give us an option to censor the bad stuff like on other platforms? It's not fair that we have to deal with those weird black rectangles covering up characters' bodies all the time. And what's with this "flipping the bird" thing? Is it really necessary to make it so obvious? ๐Ÿ™„ Anyway, I'm more excited about some of these new indie games than the whole censorship drama... like Highguard and Cairn sound pretty cool! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

๐Ÿค” Like, Nintendo's content guidelines are super inconsistent between Switch and other platforms ๐Ÿ“Š. This is the 3rd time this year we've seen censorship differences for Dispatch on different consoles ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ. It's kinda weird that they're treating it differently ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. Anyway, just a heads up for gamers out there: if you like arena shooters, Highguard and Don't Stop, Girlypop! are worth checking out this week ๐ŸŽฎ.

Here's some stats to put things into perspective:

* 75% of players who tried Don't Stop, Girlypop! said it was "way too hard" ๐Ÿ˜ฉ
* The average playtime for Cairn on Steam is around 10 hours ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ
* Space Warlord Baby Trading Simulator has seen a 30% spike in daily active users since its release ๐Ÿš€

And some fun stats about the Switch:

* The Nintendo Switch has sold over 120 million units worldwide ๐Ÿ“ˆ
* The Switch Online service has around 15 million subscribers ๐Ÿ‘‰

๐Ÿค” Nintendo's Switch version of Dispatch got me thinking - what's the point of having control over content if they're just gonna censor it anyway? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ I mean, don't get me wrong, some people might not want to deal with explicit stuff, but it's all about personal choice, right? ๐Ÿค— Still, it's interesting to see how different consoles handle things. Maybe Nintendo wants to keep their platform family-friendly or something... ๐Ÿค‘ Anyway, enough about that - new indie games are always exciting! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Highguard sounds like a blast, and I'm intrigued by Don't Stop, Girlypop!'s unique visuals ๐ŸŽจ. Cairn's climbing adventure has me hooked too! ๐Ÿ‘ Can't wait to check out those upcoming releases... ๐Ÿค”

omg u guys! so i just saw this vid on youtube about the dispatch switch release and it's SO crazy how different the censored version is from the other platforms ๐Ÿคฏ! like what even is nintendo's deal with censorship? can we get some clarity on that pls?

anywayz, has anyone tried out these new indie games? highguard sounds so lit with its fast-paced gameplay ๐Ÿ˜Ž and don't stop girlypop! might be a bit too chaotic for me, but i love the aesthetic ๐Ÿคช. cairn's isometric climbing looks super cool tho, especially with the procedurally generated worlds ๐ŸŒ. also, who else is hyped for space warlord baby trading simulator? ๐Ÿ˜‚ i mean, speculating on babies' futures? this game better deliver! ๐Ÿ‘€

Ugh, it's crazy to see how Nintendo's content guidelines can vary so much between platforms ๐Ÿคฏ. I mean, who knew they were gonna censor explicit content on the Switch by default? It's like, what's up with that? Don't get me wrong, I love a good censored cutscene as much as the next guy ๐Ÿ˜‚, but it feels like an overreach.

But anyway, onto some actual games to play! Highguard sounds super fun and fast-paced ๐ŸŽฎ. And Cairn is right up my alley - climbing adventures are always cool ๐Ÿ˜Ž. Don't Stop Girlypop! is a bit of a wild card, though... I mean, those visuals are WILD ๐Ÿ”ฅ. Maybe it's not for everyone, but I love that they're pushing the boundaries.

What really got me excited, though, was reading about Space Warlord Baby Trading Simulator ๐Ÿค‘. A stock market sim where you speculate on babies' futures? That sounds like a total trip ๐Ÿคช. And Rebadge... I mean, puzzle platformers are my jam! Baba Is You is one of the best games ever ๐Ÿ™Œ.

Anyway, it's always awesome to see new indie games coming out, and there are some real gems this week ๐ŸŽ‰.

OMG I THINK IT'S PRETTY WEIRD THAT NINTENDO DOESN'T LET YOU OPT OUT OF CENSORSHIP ON THE SWITCH VERSION OF DISPATCH!!! I MEAN WHO DECIDED THAT BLACK RECTANGLES WERE THE WAY TO GO FOR A GAME LIKE THIS?? AND WHY CAN'T PLAYERS JUST CHOOSE HOW MUCH THEY WANT TO SEE OR NOT SEE IN TERMS OF GRAPHICS? IT JUST SEEMS LIKE NINTENDO IS TRYING TO FORCE THEIR OWN STANDARDS ON OTHERS, YOU KNOW?

ANYWAY I DID CHECK OUT SOME NEW GAMES THIS WEEK AND HIGHGUARD WAS PRETTY COOL! THE GRAPHICS WERE SICK AND THE GAMEPLAY FELT FAST PAST. BUT AT THE SAME TIME, IT DIDN'T REALLY FEEL LIKE MUCH OF A CHANGE FROM OTHER ARENA SHOOTERS ON THE MARKET.

BUT ON THE OTHER HAND, I HATED DON'T STOP GIRLYPOP! I MEAN THE VISUALS WERE TO DIE FOR, BUT THE GAMEPLAY WAS LIKE TRYING TO DRINK FROM A FIREHOOSE. IT WAS JUST TOO MUCH FOR MY EYES AND BRAIN TO HANDLE!

BUT THE NEW INDIE RELEASE CAIRN LOOKED REALLY FUN! ISOTROPIC CLIMBING ADVENTURES ARE ALWAYS RIGHT UP MY ALLEY, ESPECIALLY WITH PROcedurally GENERATED WORLDS AND CO-OP GAMEPLAY.

AND OMG SPACE WARLORD BABY TRADING SIMULATOR DOES SOUND PRETTY WEIRD... BUT I'M CURIOUS TO SEE HOW IT TURNS OUT!
