Notre Dame Football Legend Lou Holtz Enters Hospice Care as Health Begins to Wane.

At the age of 89, a legendary figure in American college football, Lou Holtz, has taken his final steps into hospice care, according to sources close to the family. This news was first reported by Kyle Sutherland on Thursday.

A trailblazer in his coaching career spanning over three decades, Holtz led Notre Dame from 1986 to 1996 and guided the team to a perfect 12-0 season, securing the national championship title in 1988. His impressive record of 249 wins and only 132 losses, with seven draws, left an indelible mark on college football.

Throughout his storied career, Holtz took on various roles at several prestigious institutions, including William & Mary, North Carolina State, Arkansas, Minnesota, and South Carolina. His tenure as a coach was marked by multiple accomplishments, both in terms of individual achievements and team successes.

In recognition of his remarkable contributions to the sport, Holtz was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2008 and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Donald Trump in 2020. The respected analyst worked with ESPN from 2004 to 2015 before retiring from full-time coaching.

As news of Holtz's health deteriorates, tributes are pouring in for his enduring legacy in college football. While no official statement has been released by the family, fans and fellow coaches alike have taken to social media to honor this beloved figure, whose impact will undoubtedly be remembered for years to come.

man thats so sad 🤕 he was like a legend on campus when i was in uni lol didnt think he'd ever leave us but 89 is still pretty young btw cant believe he's getting hospice care tho i remember watching him coach back in the day with my dad we used to love watching espn together and he always had that great analysis 💡 anyway gotta give it up for the guy, he lived a full life and left an amazing mark on college football 🙏

man... 89 is crazy old 🤯, but at the same time, it's amazing that he's still kicking (or in his case, receiving hospice care). you know, it makes me think about how we measure a life's worth – through wins and losses, or by the love we share with others? lou holtz may have had an incredible football career, but it's the impact he has on people's lives that'll truly be his legacy. and i'm not just talking about his family, either 🤝, because the outpouring of love and support from fans and fellow coaches says a lot about how we value human connection in this crazy world we live in. anyway... it's never too late to reflect on our own lives and see what truly matters 💭

I got a bad feeling about this one... 89 years old, they say? That's just too convenient. I'm sure there's more to it than meets the eye. Hospice care at his age, it's like they're preparing him for something else entirely. What if he's not as sick as everyone thinks? What if he's just playing a long game? 🤔💀 All these tributes and fanfare, I'm sure it's all just a smokescreen to distract us from the real issue at hand. And that Presidential Medal of Freedom? Come on, that was definitely a strategic move by Trump to curry favor with the Holtz family...

yeah poor guy at 89... think he's earned a few rounds of golf with his buddies now 😊. still impressive that he's been able to keep up the pace all these years, considering most people are half his age and already feeling like they're getting old 💪. loved watching him on espn back in the day, always had such great insights 📺. guess we'll just have to take a moment to appreciate the legend that is lou holtz... for real this time 😊.

🤔 got to ask, what's the source on this hospice care info? seems kinda sudden, esp at 89. was he even still coaching or involved in anything recent? 🏈 also, does anyone know how long his health decline started? want to see some confirmation before jumping into tributes
