From Surrealism to Séances: The Art World’s Spiritual Turn

I THINK IT'S AMAZING THAT THE ART WORLD IS FINALLY GETTING REAL ABOUT SPIRITUALITY AND TECHNOLOGY!!! THE WAY THIS EXHIBITION AT THE SEOUL MUSEUM OF ART TREATS THE SUPERNATURAL AS PART OF EVERYDAY LIFE FEELS SO RELATEABLE, ESPECIALLY IN A CULTURE WHERE SCIENCE, TRANSCENDENCE, AND SPIRITUALITY ARENT SEPARATED. IT'S LIKE, WE'RE FINALLY STARTING TO UNDERSTAND THAT THERE'S MORE TO LIFE THAN JUST RATIONALLY EXPLAINABLE THINGS . AND I LOVE HOW THIS EXHIBITION IS PART OF A WIDER MOVEMENT TO RE THINK THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN IMAGINATION, TECHNOLOGY, AND THE PHYSICAL WORLD. IT FEELS LIKE WE'RE ON THE VERGE OF SOMETHING BIG

I just got back from Seoul with my bf and OMG we went to this exhibition at the museum "Séance: Technology of the Spirit" is literally so mind-blowing! I was expecting it to be super cheesy but it's actually really deep . They're showing how art can be inspired by spirituality and technology, which is kinda weird but also kinda brilliant . My bf is totally into that sorta stuff and he loved every minute of it . It's cool to see institutions finally acknowledging that there's more to life than just tech and science . We're thinking of going back for another look soon, maybe with some friends who are also into that vibe .

I think it's pretty weird how these art exhibitions are suddenly all about exploring the supernatural . Like, I get it, some people want to talk about ghosts and stuff, but is this really a new thing? Didn't we already have art that dealt with spiritual and mystical themes before? It just seems like another example of how art can be "edgy" or "cool" just because it's talking about the things that people don't want to discuss openly . And what's up with all these biennales and museums getting together to talk about this stuff? Is it just a way for them to say they're "relevant" or something? I dunno, but I do think it's interesting that more people are starting to question the idea of purely rational thinking and how it's not always enough .
