Former NFL player from Houston inspires new Disney Jr. series

A former Super Bowl Champion from Houston has found a new way to inspire young minds - through an animated Disney Jr. series called "Hey A.J.!". The show, which premiered on January 13, is based on a children's book series by retired NFL player Martellus Bennett and his daughter Austyn Jett.

The series follows the adventures of an imaginative girl named A.J., who uses her big imagination to turn ordinary life moments into extraordinary experiences. With the help of her trusty stuffed bunny sidekick Theo, A.J. navigates the world around her with creativity and enthusiasm.

Bennett's decision to create a show based on his daughter's stories was inspired by their close relationship and his desire to introduce more characters of color into children's media. "I just want to show the power of imagination as often as possible," he said in an interview.

The show stars Amari McCoy as A.J., with Bennett voicing A.J.'s dad, Marty. Bennett says that he works closely with Austyn Jett to ensure that her stories are accurately represented on screen. "I don't write a story without my daughter's input," he explained.

The series aims to inspire kids and parents alike to use their imaginations together. For Austyn Jett, the show is especially meaningful - she says that it helps her see herself in the character of A.J., who is also very imaginative. "I think I'm like A.J. in the Disney show," she said. "Not only the way they made me look, but the way they also made me act."

The show's message of family and community participation in imagination resonates with Bennett, who hopes that it will encourage viewers to come together and dream as a team. "I think the biggest thing is about the entire family participating in each other's imaginations," he said.

As the first seven episodes of "Hey A.J!" became available on Disney+, fans were treated to an imaginative world filled with creativity, humor, and heart. With its inspiring message and lovable characters, this show is sure to delight kids and parents alike.

I'm loving this new Disney Jr series Hey A.J.! 🀩 It's so cool that Martellus Bennett created it based on his daughter Austyn Jett's stories. I think it's awesome how the show promotes using your imagination and creativity, especially in a world where kids are constantly surrounded by screens πŸ“Ί. The animation is so colorful and fun, and the characters are all super lovable! Amari McCoy does an amazing job as A.J., and Martellus Bennett voicing her dad Marty is just perfect πŸ’•. I'm excited to see more episodes and hope it encourages kids to be creative together with their families πŸŽ¨πŸ’¬

omg I'm SOOO excited about this new Disney Jr series 🀩 "Hey A.J!" is literally everything I've been hoping for in a children's show! it's so great that Martellus Bennett decided to create something based on his daughter Austyn's stories - her character A.J. is so inspiring and relatable 😊. Amari McCoy does an amazing job voicing A.J., and I love how Marty (Bennett) interacts with his daughter in the show, it's so sweet ❀️. what I think is really cool about this series is that it encourages kids to use their imaginations together, just like Austyn said, it makes me wanna watch it with my own kiddo ASAP! πŸ‘«

πŸ€“ I think what's really cool about this new series is that it's not just about a kid using her imagination to have fun, but also about how she uses it to bring people together as a family. It's all about collaboration and seeing things from each other's perspectives. That's a valuable lesson for us grown-ups too! πŸ’‘ Think about it, when was the last time you had a family movie night or game night where everyone just let loose and used their imagination? I bet we could learn a thing or two from A.J.'s example...

OMG u guyz 🀩 I'm soooo stoked 2 see A.J. in action!!! Martellus Bennett & his daughter Austyn Jett r like, total power couple πŸ‘«πŸ“š their animated series "Hey A.J!" is literally the most inspiring thing i've seen in a looong time πŸ’–

I'm tellin' ya, back in my day we didn't have all these fancy animated shows, but I love that Martellus Bennett is using his platform to inspire the next gen πŸ€©πŸ“Ί. It's so cool that he's working with his daughter Austyn Jett to make sure her stories are accurate and fun for kids like A.J. in the show. And I gotta say, it's awesome that they're highlighting the importance of family and community participation in imagination - that's what childhood is all about! 🀝 The animation looks super cute too, and Amari McCoy does a great job as A.J. Can't wait to see more episodes and watch Austyn Jett shine on screen πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

πŸ€” I gotta ask, how did we go from Martellus Bennett being a former Super Bowl champ to making an animated Disney Jr series for kids? Was he always passionate about creating kids content or is this just a way to leverage his fame? πŸ€‘ Also, I'm curious about the daughter's input on the show, I'd love to see more on that. Is it really her writing the stories and her voice in the show? πŸ’¬

omg I'm literally so happy to see a former super bowl champion using their platform for good!!! πŸ’– like Martellus Bennett's decision to create a Disney Jr series based on his daughter's stories is just the most beautiful thing ever 🌈 I mean, can you think of anyone more perfect to be A.J.s dad than Marty?! πŸ˜‚ and I love how Austyn Jett gets to see herself in her little sis's character - it's like the ultimate sister power move πŸ’ͺ but what really gets me is the show's message about family and community participation in imagination 🌟 it's like Bennett wants us all to come together and dream as a team, you know?! 🀝 I'm def gonna be watching this with my little one and we're gonna get lost in that imaginary world together πŸ’«

πŸ‘ I gotta say, a former Super Bowl champ turnin' into a children's TV star? That's pretty cool. But what's even cooler is the fact that he's using his platform to introduce more diversity in kids' media 🌈. It's about time we got some characters of color on those Disney shows πŸ€”. Bennett's heart is in the right place, and if it inspires young minds to use their imagination, then I'm all for it πŸ’‘. And who knows, maybe this show will be the start of somethin' bigger πŸŽ‰.

OMG 🀯 I love this! Its so cool that Martellus Bennett created a show based on his daughter's stories. It's like, she was the real inspiration behind it all πŸ’•. And its awesome that Austyn Jett gets to see herself in the character of A.J., she sounds like an amazing kid 🀩. I think its great that the show promotes imagination and creativity, and its not just for kids, parents will love it too 😊. The whole team behind this show is doing a great job, they should be super proud πŸ’―!

Man, I'm so glad they're finally making content that's all about encouraging kids to use their imaginations! You know what that reminds me of? The whole debate around education funding in our country. We need more programs like this that invest in young minds and help them think outside the box πŸ€”.

I love that Martellus Bennett is working closely with his daughter Austyn Jett on this project. It's so important to have representation in media, especially for kids who might not see themselves reflected in popular culture. But let's be real, it also brings up questions about accessibility and diversity. Are we doing enough to ensure that every child has access to these types of resources? We should definitely be having a conversation about this πŸ“Ί.

And have you seen the ratings so far? I'm not surprised! Who doesn't love a good animated series with lovable characters? But seriously, this show has the potential to spark some real conversations at home. How can we balance creativity and imagination with the pressures of modern life? It's all about finding that balance, right? 🀝

πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ What's next? A football field full of cartoon characters? But seriously, a retired NFL player creating an animated series for kids based on his daughter's stories? It's not like he's gonna make some cash off the merch, is it? πŸ€‘ I'm all about spreading inspiration and imagination, but come on, Martellus, you're not getting rich off this show. Still, I guess it's cool that Austyn Jett gets to see herself in A.J.'s adventures. Maybe they'll even get some youngins' to dream up their own animated shows... or not πŸ™„. The fact remains, Disney Jr. just scored a touchdown with this one! ⚽️

Wow 🀩 Interesting that a former Super Bowl champ turned NFL player's daughter into the inspiration behind an animated series on Disney Jr! I mean, it's super cool to see more diverse characters in kids' media πŸŽ¨πŸ‘§. And who wouldn't want to watch an animated show about using your imagination and creativity? 😊 The fact that Austyn Jett is a part of the process too is really awesome πŸ’•

Omg I just started watching it with my little sis and she loves it so much!!! 🀩 I was thinking about how cool it's great that they created a show based on Austyn Jett's stories and her dad Martellus Bennett being part of it too, that's so sweet ❀️. And the idea of using imagination to turn ordinary moments into extraordinary experiences is just genius! I remember when my friends from school used to play make-believe all the time and we'd create our own adventures together πŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈ. I'm definitely gonna show this to more kids at my nephews' birthday party this weekend πŸŽ‰.

I love how Martellus Bennett is using his platform to inspire the next gen 🀩! Creating a Disney Jr series based on his daughter's stories is so heartwarming ❀️. It's amazing that he's working closely with Austyn Jett to ensure her stories are accurately represented, it shows he really values their relationship πŸ‘«.

I'm also loving the message of family and community participation in imagination 🌈! As a parent, it's easy to get caught up in our own little worlds, but this show is teaching us that we can have so much fun together with our kids πŸ€—. Can't wait to watch more episodes with my little one and see A.J's adventures come to life πŸ“Ί

I just watched the first ep of "Hey A.J!" and it's so cute! 😊 I love how the show promotes using your imagination and being creative. It's like they say in my childhood, you can turn anything into something amazing if you use your mind! πŸ€” The animation is super colorful and fun too! I'm glad to see a Disney Jr show with more characters of color, it's about time we saw more representation on TV! πŸ‘ My daughter loves it already, she's already making up stories for A.J. and her friend Theo πŸ˜‚. I think the best part is how Austyn Jett got involved in creating the show, it shows that dads can be just as creative and caring as moms 🀝.

🀝 I gotta say, it's really cool to see Martellus Bennett using his platform to inspire young minds through his daughter's stories. It just goes to show that you can be a role model not just on the field but off too 😊. I mean, who wouldn't want to watch a show about a girl with a big imagination and her trusty stuffed bunny sidekick? It's like Austyn Jett was meant to be A.J. πŸ€“ And it's great that Bennett is working closely with his daughter to make sure the stories are accurately represented on screen. I love how Austyn Jett sees herself in A.J.'s character - that's so empowering for young girls who might feel like they don't see themselves represented in media πŸ€— The show is basically a visual representation of the power of imagination and creativity, which I think is super important for kids (and adults alike!) to learn πŸ’‘ Can't wait to see more episodes! 😊

It's awesome that he's creating content that showcases a strong, imaginative girl of color as the main character - I'm sure many kids will see themselves in A.J. and feel empowered by her adventures πŸ’–. The fact that Bennett is working closely with his daughter to ensure her stories are accurately represented on screen is really heartwarming ❀️. I think this show has the potential to inspire not just kids, but also parents to tap into their own creativity and imagination together 🀝!
