"Felt like I was going to pass out and die": Immigration agents are using banned chokeholds

Immigration agents have resorted to using banned chokeholds and other restraints on civilians, including teenagers and protesters, in what is being described as a major escalation of the country's immigration enforcement efforts. The use of these tactics, which are prohibited under the Department of Homeland Security's use-of-force policy unless deadly force is authorized, has raised concerns about the treatment of migrants and the level of accountability among law enforcement agencies.

In Houston, 16-year-old Arnoldo Bazan was arrested by immigration agents after his car was pulled over. The teenager was put in a chokehold and taken into custody, with his neck later showing signs of bruising. His family has spoken out about their concerns, saying that the agent's actions were unjustified and that they have yet to receive adequate support from local authorities.

In Los Angeles, an ICE agent used a chokehold on a protester, causing them to convulse and lose consciousness. The incident was captured on video by bystanders, who described the scene as chaotic and excessive. Experts say that such tactics are not only prohibited under the Department of Homeland Security's policy but also pose significant risks to public safety.

The use of banned restraints is part of a larger pattern of law enforcement abuse that has been reported in various parts of the country. In Chicago, a protester was grabbed by an ICE agent and slammed to the ground after refusing to stand back. The incident has raised questions about the training and accountability of immigration officers.

Experts say that the lack of consequences for such actions is a major issue, with many former law enforcement officials expressing outrage at the tactics used by agents in these incidents. "These statements were lies," says Renee Good's husband, who was also targeted by ICE agents. The incident has sparked widespread condemnation and calls for greater accountability among law enforcement agencies.

The use of banned restraints and other tactics is just one aspect of a broader crisis of trust between the government and immigrant communities. Many experts say that this crisis can only be addressed through meaningful reform of immigration policies and increased transparency and accountability within law enforcement agencies.

In response to these incidents, some lawmakers have called for new legislation aimed at increasing accountability among federal immigration officers. In California, the state Legislature passed bills prohibiting ICE agents from wearing masks during operations and requiring them to display identification. Similarly, in Illinois, Governor JB Pritzker signed a law allowing residents to sue any officer who violates state or federal constitutional rights.

The White House has defended its handling of these incidents, with officials saying that the actions taken by immigration officers were justified under existing policies. However, many experts say that this response only serves to further erode trust between the government and immigrant communities.

As the situation continues to unfold, one thing is clear: the use of banned restraints and other tactics by immigration agents has raised serious concerns about public safety and accountability within law enforcement agencies.

man I'm shocked ppl are actually surprised ๐Ÿ˜’ by this kinda stuff... i mean we know ice and immigration agents have a history of being kinda brutal but come on ๐Ÿคฏ 16-year-old kids being put in chokeholds? that's just wrong ๐Ÿ’” and the fact that these agents are just doing whatever they want without consequences is just disgusting ๐Ÿšฎ and it's not like this is a new thing either we've seen videos of ice agents being super aggressive before but nobody did anything about it ๐Ÿ‘€

anyway i think it's time for real change here ๐Ÿ”„ we need laws in place that actually hold these agents accountable for their actions ๐Ÿ’ช and we need to start treating immigrant communities with respect and dignity ๐Ÿ™ not just locking them up and throwing away the key ๐Ÿ”‘

๐Ÿค• these incidents got me thinking... it's a reminder that power can be abused in the blink of an eye... those agents are supposed to protect & serve, but instead they're using their authority to harm & intimidate... it's not just about following policies, it's about having empathy & understanding for the people you're enforcing them on. what's the true cost of enforcement when it comes at the expense of human dignity? ๐Ÿค we need to hold our law enforcers accountable, but we also need to recognize that even with training, they're still human beings who can make mistakes... but in this case, those mistakes come with serious consequences for others. ๐Ÿ’”

just saw this news ๐Ÿšจ and its wild how the government is handling these things... the fact that they're using banned restraints on civilians is just wrong, you feel? like who gives them permission to do that? ๐Ÿค” and 16-year-old Arnoldo Bazan getting choked out in front of his family is just not right ๐Ÿ˜”. we need to hold our law enforcement agencies accountable for their actions and make sure they're following the rules... it's all about trust and accountability, you know? ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’ผ

omg can u believe these ice agents r just w8ing 4 a reason 2 break some1s neck or slap them aroun ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ but seriously, what kinda training do these agents need? chokeholds on teens and protesters? that's just crazy ๐Ÿ™„ and like, who lets this happen? not enough consequences 4 these actions, imo ๐Ÿ‘Ž

๐Ÿšจ I'm totally with you, friend... these chokeholds on teens & protesters are just plain unacceptable! ๐Ÿ˜ก We need to hold our law enforcement accountable for their actions. Can't believe the lack of consequences for this kind of abuse... it's like they think they're above the law or something? ๐Ÿคฌ My cousin was stopped by a cop once and they ended up finding nothing, so I know how frustrating that must be for families dealing with this kinda thing. We need reform now, not just empty promises from lawmakers.

It's so messed up that these officers are just running wild with banned chokeholds and restraints ๐Ÿคฌ๐Ÿšจ. Like, what even is the point of having a policy if it's not enforced? ๐Ÿ™„ And to think this is happening in our own country, where we're supposed to value human rights and dignity. It's like, come on guys, put some respect back into law enforcement ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

These incidents are not just about the migrants or protesters, they're also about the trust that's been broken between the government and immigrant communities ๐Ÿค. We need real change here, not just empty promises from lawmakers or the White House ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ. We need to see actual reforms and accountability measures put in place before things get even worse ๐Ÿ’”.

It's heartbreaking to think about Arnoldo Bazan and that protester who lost consciousness because of these reckless actions ๐Ÿ˜ญ. And what really gets me is that we know the officers are breaking the law, but no one seems to be holding them accountable ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. It's time for some real change here, folks ๐Ÿ‘Š

"An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind." ๐Ÿค•๐Ÿ˜ฑ The way immigration agents are using banned chokeholds and restraints is not only a major escalation of their efforts but also raises questions about public safety and trust between the government and immigrant communities. It's time to address this crisis through meaningful reform and increased transparency in law enforcement agencies! ๐Ÿ’ก

I'm so done with these ICE agents! They're basically police with a bad attitude ๐Ÿ˜ก. Using chokeholds on teens and protesters is not only a major breach of human rights, but it's also super reckless. What if one of those protests turned violent? Wouldn't they want to protect people from getting hurt? I think they need some serious training and de-escalation techniques. And what's with all the lack of consequences for these actions? It's like, "Oh, you used a banned chokehold? No big deal!" ๐Ÿ™„ Not cool, guys. We need real accountability here.

๐Ÿค•๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿšจ This is totally unacceptable ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’”! Those chokeholds & restraints are brutal ๐Ÿคฏ! What's next? ๐Ÿ˜ฉ 16-year-old Arnoldo got choked just for driving with his license plate light on... that's not justice, that's crazytown ๐Ÿšจ! ICE needs to get their acts together ๐Ÿ’ผ and stop using tactics that can kill ๐Ÿ‘Š. We need better training & consequences for when these officers break the rules ๐Ÿ“. The lack of accountability is giving me ๐Ÿ˜ค๐Ÿ˜ค. How can we trust them? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ Those laws in California & Illinois are a start, but more needs to be done ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ!

๐Ÿคฏ The recent spate of incidents involving immigration agents using banned chokeholds and restraints on civilians, including teenagers and protesters, is a stark reminder of the need for systemic reform. ๐Ÿšจ It's disconcerting to see law enforcement agencies resorting to such tactics, which are not only prohibited under existing policies but also pose significant risks to public safety. ๐Ÿค• The lack of consequences for such actions is a major issue, with many former law enforcement officials expressing outrage at the methods used by agents in these incidents.

It's telling that these incidents have sparked widespread condemnation and calls for greater accountability within law enforcement agencies. ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ In response, some lawmakers have proposed new legislation aimed at increasing oversight and transparency within federal immigration offices. ๐Ÿ“š However, more needs to be done to address the broader crisis of trust between the government and immigrant communities.

The use of masks by ICE agents during operations is a minor issue compared to the bigger picture โ€“ the need for meaningful reform of immigration policies and increased accountability within law enforcement agencies. ๐Ÿ” Ultimately, it's up to policymakers to take concrete steps towards addressing these issues and rebuilding trust with the communities they serve. ๐Ÿค

this is getting outta hand... they gotta stop using these chokeholds on people who are just trying to exercise their rights, or whatever it is they're protesting for ๐Ÿคฏ my cousin's friend is from mexico and he told me that this kinda thing has been happening in the states for years and ppl are still gettin it worse now than ever... we need better training for these agents or at least some sorta accountability system so they don't just do whatever they want, you know?
