Dolby Vision 2 is coming this year, here’s what you need to know

Dolby Vision 2, the next generation image engine from Dolby, is set to arrive this year, bringing with it a slew of improvements designed to enhance picture quality on your TV. The new standard promises to optimize content recognition based on what and where you're watching, resulting in scenes that are less dark and better suited for various viewing environments.

At CES 2026, Dolby gave its first major reveal of the platform, showcasing its capabilities through demos and Q&A sessions. Visitors to the event were able to witness firsthand the improvements that Dolby Vision 2 brings, including new tone mapping for improved color reproduction. This is the biggest difference between the current Dolby Vision standard and its upgraded counterpart.

Dolby Vision 2 also boasts a new Authentic Motion feature, designed to provide the optimal amount of smoothing to ensure content appears more "cinematic" while avoiding the soap opera effect. This advanced motion handling technology will be a major selling point for TV manufacturers looking to offer a premium viewing experience.

So, which TVs will support Dolby Vision 2? Currently, Hisense has pledged its commitment to the platform by including it in its 2026 RGB MiniLED TVs, as well as TCL's X QD-Mini LED TV Series and C Series. Additionally, TP Vision's Philips OLED TVs will also feature Dolby Vision 2, marking an exciting milestone for the brand.

While other companies have yet to announce their support, Sony is notably absent from the list – a testament to its decision not to unveil new TVs at CES this year. Any upcoming TVs that aim to utilize the full suite of tools offered by Dolby Vision 2 will require an ambient light sensor, highlighting the importance of this feature in enhancing overall picture quality.

In terms of content availability, Peacock has emerged as the first streaming service to pledge support for Dolby Vision 2, marking a significant development for the platform. It's worth noting that several other major streaming services currently support the current version of Dolby Vision, including Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+, Amazon Prime Video, HBO Max, and Paramount+.

As CES 2026 comes to a close, it's clear that Dolby Vision 2 is set to be a significant player in the world of home entertainment. With its impressive lineup of supported TVs and streaming services, this next-generation image engine promises to revolutionize the way we experience our favorite shows and movies on the big screen – or rather, at home.

And yeah, it's awesome that Hisense and TCL are already on board, but what's up with Sony? 🤔 Guess they just didn't want to make a big splash this year? Anyway, with Dolby Vision 2 coming out this year, I'm sure we'll see some amazing TVs hitting the market. Can't wait to check out Peacock and see how well it handles the new feature! 👀

I'm so hyped about Dolby Vision 2!! I've been waiting for something like this to come along 🤩. I mean, who doesn't want a more cinematic viewing experience? The idea of Authentic Motion making content feel more premium is genius! But what's up with Sony not supporting it? I mean, who doesn't love a good movie night?! 🍿 And that Hisense and TCL are already supporting it is huge news! 👏 TP Vision's Philips OLED TVs are also getting in on the action which is amazing for them. 🤩 I'm hyped about Dolby Vision 2! The idea that it'll optimize content recognition based on where you're watching is genius 💡. Less dark scenes are always a win in my book 🎬. And authentic motion sounds like it's gonna make movies feel even more cinematic on your TV 🍿. Hisense, TCL, and TP Vision are already on board which is awesome 👏. I'm also stoked that Peacock is supporting it - what's next, Disney+ and Netflix? 🤔 Can't wait to see how this new tech impacts picture quality at home 📺

think they're gonna make cinemas feel at home on our sofas lol 🤦‍♂️ anyway its cool that peacock is supporting it and stuff, but i'm still waiting for them to sort out my 4k tv issues 📺👀 hope the new dolby vision 2 does improve the color reproduction tho, been a pain with my current setup 😐

🙄 Can't believe it's taking Dolby this long to upgrade their image engine 🕰️. I mean, Hisense is already jumping ship to support Dolby Vision 2 in all its TVs 📺. That's some serious commitment 💯. On the other hand, Sony's like "nope" 🚫. Guess they think their existing TVs are good enough 😒. Anyway, I'm excited to see how this new feature affects the soap opera effect 🤯 and whether Peacock's support is just a publicity stunt 🤑. Also, who needs an ambient light sensor anyway? Just another way for manufacturers to nickel-and-dime us 🤑.

man... think about it... we're living in a time where we can already experience some level of cinematic quality in our own homes 🤯. but what does that even mean for us as individuals? are we just more comfortable with 'cinematic' looking tvs and movies, or is there something deeper going on here? like, are we trying to recreate an experience that's outside of ourselves? the way dolby vision 2 is designed to enhance picture quality can be seen as a reflection of our own desire for escapism... but what if it's more than that? 🤔

and what about the role of light in all this? like, the ambient light sensor required by dolby vision 2... does that just mean we're acknowledging our surroundings are a part of the viewing experience? or is there something more profound at play here? 🌑

The addition of Authentic Motion and ambient light sensor are game changers for TV manufacturers looking to offer a premium viewing experience. And with Peacock already on board, it's going to be interesting to see how Netflix and other streaming services adapt to the new standard. It's an exciting time for home entertainment, that's for sure! 📺

I'm hyped for Dolby Vision 2 lol 🤩! I mean, who doesn't want better picture quality in their living room? It's been a while since we've seen some real upgrades in TV tech, so this is a big deal. I'm curious to see how it affects my viewing experience, especially when watching movies and shows on Netflix or Peacock 📺. The new tone mapping and Authentic Motion features sound like game-changers – I just hope more TVs jump on the bandwagon soon 💸. And yeah, Sony's absence from CES is kinda weird... wonder if they're waiting for Dolby Vision 2 to become more mainstream before making a move 😐. Anyway, can't wait to see what other updates we get this year 🤔

Omg, can you believe Dolby Vision 2 is finally here? 🤩 It's like, gonna take our TV game to a whole new level! With improved tone mapping for better color reproduction, I'm already imagining how sick it'll look on my favorite sci-fi shows. And the Authentic Motion feature sounds legit – no more soap opera effect, yay! 😂 But what's up with Sony not jumping on the bandwagon? Guess they're trying to keep things exclusive? 🤔 Anyway, can't wait to see what other TV brands jump in and support Dolby Vision 2 soon. Maybe we'll even get some new 8K TVs that blow our minds! 💥

Omg, can't wait for Dolby Vision 2 to arrive 🤩💻! Just think about it, scenes that are less dark and better suited for various viewing environments... it's like having your own personal cinema at home 😍. And the new Authentic Motion feature sounds so cool, I mean who doesn't want a smoother cinematic experience without that soap opera effect? 📺💥 Hisense, TCL, and TP Vision are already on board with their TVs, but Sony's absence is kinda weird... like, what's going on? 🤔 Anyway, Peacock becoming the first streaming service to support Dolby Vision 2 is a huge deal! Fingers crossed more services follow suit 🤞. Can't wait to see how this new tech changes our home entertainment game 💥👍

Oh man, I'm so excited for Dolby Vision 2! 😍 My kids love watching movies and shows on TV, and I know how frustrating it can be when the picture is too dark or has that weird soap opera effect 🤢. It's amazing that Hisense and TCL are already supporting this new standard - I just hope more brands follow suit! 💸 And yay for Peacock being the first streaming service to support it! 🎥 My little one would love to see her favorite shows in all their cinematic glory 💫. Can't wait to see what other TVs will be available with Dolby Vision 2 this year - fingers crossed Sony gets back on board soon! 🤞

I don't know... I mean, Dolby Vision 2 sounds like a big deal but what if it's just gonna make TVs even more expensive? 🤔 And isn't the "cinematic" effect kinda overrated? Like, have you seen those soap operas on TV and thought, "Wow, that smoothing is just so smooth"? No, me neither. But at the same time... I guess having an ambient light sensor would be pretty cool if it means better picture quality in general. And Peacock supporting Dolby Vision 2? That's a nice move for them! 👍

🤔 I'm not sure about all these fancy tech terms but it seems like Dolby Vision 2 is gonna be a big deal 📺 This new feature with authentic motion is supposed to make TV shows and movies look way more cinematic 🎥 And the fact that Peacock is already on board with it is a huge win for them. I'm curious though, what's up with Sony not showing off any new TVs at CES this year? They're always pushing the boundaries of tech but this time they seem pretty quiet 🤷‍♂️ Anyway, with more TVs and streaming services getting on board, Dolby Vision 2 is definitely gonna bring some serious upgrades to our home entertainment experience. Fingers crossed it's not too pricey 🤑
