DeVon-tails Smith and 8 other dogs from Philly-area shelters are competing in the Puppy Bowl

Philadelphia's canine hopefuls have secured their place in the spotlight. On February 8th, when Super Bowl Sunday arrives, animal lovers across the country will be glued to their screens watching the annual Puppy Bowl event.

Eight adorable puppies from Philadelphia-area shelters are going to take the stage by storm. Cricket, a heart-warming American pit bull terrier mix with a special needs condition, is playing for Team Fluff alongside his brother Grasshopper. Cricket's tale began when he was just days old; discovered in a vacant apartment with 10 newborn siblings and no mom in sight.

Cricket's journey showcases the dedication of Harley's Haven shelter, where a cleaning crew stumbled upon the little pup's family. The litter received bottle-feeding assistance and special care to help them thrive, eventually finding their forever homes. Cricket was adopted right before filming the Puppy Bowl with his brother Grasshopper, who is now known as Dex.

Other Philly-area puppies making headlines are Koda from Providence Animal Shelter, Media, who plays for Team Ruff; Finch, a spirited beagle named Lucky after finishing shelter classes and learning crate training, from Animal Welfare Association in Voorhees Township; and Jill, a charming Cavalier King Charles Spaniel from Phoenix Animal Rescue in Chester Springs.

Meanwhile, Lin is taking the field with her team Ruff. The tiny but fierce mini poodle was found at Brandywine Valley SPCA after being transported to the shelter following flash floods that hit Texas's Hill Country.

Rounding out this talented group are Oscar, Shirley, and Teddy. Oscar will showcase his big personality in Team Ruff, while Shirley is going by her new alias Nala. Teddy, an Akita-husky mix from Providence Animal Shelter, is joining forces with his brother DeVon-tails Smith, who plays for Fluff. The brothers were born just a few weeks apart and quickly made their mark as they found forever homes.

These heartwarming tales remind us of the beauty of animals waiting to bring love into our lives. This year's Puppy Bowl promises an entertaining spectacle with these lovable players taking center stage.

I swear, I remember when the Puppy Bowl was still on TV like 5 years ago... it's crazy how fast time flies! 🀯 These adorable Philly puppies are going to steal hearts for sure, just like Cricket and his bro Dex did last year 😊. It's amazing how far the shelters have come in helping these little ones get adopted and ready for their forever homes. And can we talk about Team Fluff vs Team Ruff? It's gonna be a doggone good competition! 🐾πŸ’₯ I hope they all find their purr-fect match soon... sorry, had to πŸ˜‚.

idk why people still watch this πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ, but i guess its cute when they're running around on a doggy football field... like who even cares about the score? 🏈🐢 anyway, those pups from philly shelters are actually kinda inspiring - gotta give credit to the harley's haven crew for taking care of cricket and his fam πŸ’• also, mini poodle lin is literally tiny but fierce πŸ’β€β™€οΈ and teddy and devon-tails are just adorable cuz brothers πŸΎπŸ’•

omg u guys i cant even handle how cute these puppy bowl contestants r lol cricket tho is like the ultimate underdog story πŸ•πŸ’” i mean can you even imagine being found in a vacant apt with 10 siblings no mom in sight? 🀯 shelter life is real but also the most adorable πŸ’– anyway, cant wait for super bowl sunday to see these lil cuties go head to head in puppy bowl πŸ“ΊπŸ‘€

man this is amazing πŸΎπŸ’• i love how it's not just about cute puppies though, it's also about giving them a second chance at life. like cricket and his bro dex they were literally found abandoned as newborns and now they're living their best lives πŸ™Œ it's so inspiring to see these shelters stepping up to care for them and help them find forever homes.

and can we talk about the fact that there are shelters in philly doing this amazing work? we need more of this kind of love and compassion in our community πŸ’– it's not just about the puppies, it's about creating a better world for all animals 🌎

omg I'm soooo hyped for this years puppy bowl 🐾🏈! it's amazing that all these adorable pups from philly shelters are getting a chance to shine 🌟 i mean cricket's story is just wow, discovered in an empty apartment with 10 siblings and no mom, can you even imagine? 🀯 the fact that he got adopted right before filming with his bro grasshopper (now dex) is just too cute 😊.

and i love how the article highlights all these shelters and their amazing work πŸ™Œ it's not just about the puppies, but also about the people who care for them. I'm def watching this year's puppy bowl on super bowl sunday with my friends and family πŸ“Ί we're going to fawn over these little furballs together 😍 can't wait! πŸ’•

I'm not sure about this whole Puppy Bowl thing πŸ€”... I mean, what's next? Watching grown-ups dress up in costumes and compete for a prize πŸ†? It seems like just another way to make people spend their money on overpriced advertising deals πŸ’Έ... But hey, if it makes you happy watching puppies run around, be my guest 😊. Personally, I'd rather see some real progress on mental health support or education reform instead of cat videos with a side of cute puppy pics πŸΎπŸ’»

OMG, I'm so down for this Puppy Bowl 🐾😍! Those Philly-area puppies are literally too cute for words 🀯 Cricket's story is like a total heartwarming win πŸ’– and I love that the shelter crew helped him out when he was just a tiny pup πŸ‘Ά. And can we talk about Lin, the mini poodle who survived flash floods? Girl, she's like a total survivor! πŸ’ͺ Finch, on the other hand, is giving me major crate training goals πŸ“šπŸ’Ί and I'm here for it too! πŸ’• It's so cool to see all these adorable pups getting ready for their big debut 🎬. And, omigosh, have you seen the pics of Teddy and DeVon-tails? Those two brothers are like the ultimate sibling duo πŸ‘«πŸ˜ Can't wait to tune in on Super Bowl Sunday and cheer on Team Fluff & Ruff! πŸ’•πŸΎ

🐢 I'm so down for this puppy bowl thing, but it kinda feels like we're still dealing with pet overpopulation in shelters...like what happened to Cricket and his siblings? πŸ€” still getting used to seeing all those adorable pics of them though! hope they all find their forever homes soon.

You know, it's amazing how much joy a bunch of puppies can bring to people's lives 🐾❀️. The fact that all these adorable pups came from shelters and now get to shine on the Puppy Bowl is just so inspiring 🌟. It shows us that even though they might've had tough starts in life, with some love and care, they can thrive and bring happiness to everyone around them πŸ€—.

I think it's awesome that we're getting more info about the pups' backstories, like Cricket's journey from being abandoned as a newborn to finding his forever home ❀️. It just highlights how much of a difference shelters like Harley's Haven and Animal Welfare Association are making in their communities 🌈.

The Puppy Bowl is definitely going to be an entertaining show this year, but it's also so much more than that – it's about spreading awareness about animal adoption and the importance of giving these amazing animals a second chance at life πŸΎπŸ’•.

omg u guys can't wait for puppy bowl sunday!!! 🐾😍 i'm so glad there are shelters in philly doing amazing work w/ ppl like cricket & his fam πŸ€— they deserve all the love! and omg have u seen these lil fur babies play? 🏈🐢 they're literally the cutest things ever! πŸΎπŸ’•

OMG 🀩 I'm literally so hyped for this year's Puppy Bowl!!! It's amazing how eight adorable pups from Philly shelters are getting the spotlight they deserve! Cricket, that poor pup who was just days old when he got found in an apartment with his siblings... it's heartbreaking but also so heartwarming to see him shine on that stage with his brother Dex. And can we talk about the rest of these cuties?! Koda from Providence Animal Shelter, Finch who finished shelter classes and learned crate training, Jill from Phoenix Animal Rescue... each one has an amazing story behind them! πŸΎπŸ’• It's so inspiring to see animals waiting for their forever homes bring joy and love into people's lives. Can't wait for the Puppy Bowl on Feb 8th to find out who takes the crown! πŸ†πŸ‘‘

Ugh, can't believe it's that time of year again πŸ€ͺ🐾... Everyone's just gonna be glued to their screens watching a bunch of cute puppies play around on TV... Meanwhile, the real heroes are still out there - those shelters and rescues working tirelessly to find forever homes for all these adorable but often overlooked animals... And what about the ones that don't make it? πŸΎπŸ˜” The stats are just crazy - over 6 million homeless pets in the US right now... Not exactly a reason to celebrate Puppy Bowl, if you ask me πŸ˜”.

You know what's wild, the puppy bowl is like a metaphor for America - all these adorable dogs from different backgrounds coming together to entertain us, just like how we're all united as one nation under the same flag πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ. But seriously, it's crazy how some of these puppies have special needs or were found in tough situations, like Cricket, who was literally abandoned as a newborn and had to rely on bottle-feeding to survive 🍼.

It's like, we're all rooting for Cricket because he's the underdog (pun intended), just like how we root for the underdogs in politics - you know, the ones who don't have all the resources but still manage to make a difference πŸ’ͺ. And I'm not saying the Puppy Bowl is directly related to politics or anything, but it's all about the power of compassion and community, which are basically the same values we should be promoting in our society 🀝.

Plus, can we talk about the representation? There are puppies from different shelters and backgrounds, just like how we need more diverse voices in politics. It's time to shake things up and bring some fresh perspectives to the table πŸ“’. The Puppy Bowl might seem like a lighthearted affair, but it's actually teaching us valuable lessons about empathy, cooperation, and the importance of giving a second chance πŸΎπŸ’•.

omg u guys can u even imagine how sad cricket was when he was just days old found in a vacant apartment w/ 10 newborn siblings & no mom πŸ€•πŸ˜ but luckily harley's haven shelter ppl stepped up & gave him bottle-feeding assistance & special care & now he's all grown up 🐾❀️ and i'm dyin over his bro dex who's also a super cute puppy 🀩 u should totes adopt a shelter pup u won't regret it πŸ™Œ

Ugh, have you seen the website they use for the Puppy Bowl? It's so outdated πŸ™„. The navigation is all wonky and it takes forever to load on my phone. And don't even get me started on the comments section - it's like they're intentionally trying to make it hard for people to engage with each other πŸ˜’. I mean, can't they just upgrade their tech already? It's not like it's that hard to create a user-friendly platform πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. And what's up with all these ads? Can't we focus on the adorable puppies for once? πŸΎπŸ˜”

awww πŸΆπŸ’• those puppy faces tho 😍 they're like little superheroes saving lives one snuggle at a time πŸ’ͺ🏼❀️ and it's so heartwarming to see them find their forever homes 🏠🐾 cricket's story is giving me all the feels 😭 i mean, who wouldn't love a pup with a special needs condition who still managed to steal hearts? 🀩 and can we talk about the teams they're playing for? team fluff vs team ruff it's gonna be an epic battle of cute πŸ†πŸ‘Š

OMG 🐢😍, I am literally so excited for this year's Puppy Bowl!!! Those Philly-area puppies are going to steal our hearts on Super Bowl Sunday πŸ“ΊπŸ‘. Cricket and his bro Dex are giving me all the feels with their special needs story ❀️, but honestly, all these adorable pups deserve some love ❀️❀️! I need an endless supply of puppy cuddles and snuggles this year πŸ˜‚. Can't wait to watch them all shine on stage πŸŽ‰πŸΎ!

πŸΎπŸ’• I think it's awesome how these puppies are getting a second chance at life, you know? Like, Cricket and his brother Dex, they were just abandoned in this vacant apartment and now they're living their best lives on the Puppy Bowl stage. And can we talk about Lin, that little mini poodle who was transported to the shelter during flash floods? She's like, a tiny superhero 🌟. I love how these shelters are giving them so much care and attention to help them thrive. It's not just about entertainment, it's about sharing their stories and showing people how amazing animals can be. And let's be real, who doesn't love puppies?! 😊
