This Danny L Harle album is like a trainwreck that you can't look away from - it's got all these cool collabs but then it just gets really weird and tries too hard to be retro... I get that he's trying to pay homage to his influences, but the problem is that it feels so forced. Like, "Azimuth" with Caroline Polachek sounds like someone threw a bunch of styles together and hoped they'd stick . And don't even get me started on those beatless instrumentals... I think this album would be more interesting if he just stuck to his own style instead of trying to fit in with the past .
