omg I'm totally obsessed with the way this book is structured
it's like, Nell and Eve's relationship is a puzzle that Gray slowly uncovers throughout the story, and each new piece you add makes you wonder what's going on in their heads. The timeline jumps around like crazy, but it's so smooth and effortless β I love how it mirrors the way people's lives are all messy and complicated
and can we talk about Eve's queer identity for a sec?
Gray handles it with such care and sensitivity, making it feel like this beautiful, wild thing that's just happening to her. The way she writes about community and found family is giving me LIFE
I also love how this book subverts the whole 'relationship novel' trope β it's not all sappy romance and happily-ever-afters, you know?
It's like, these women are messy and complicated, just like everyone else. And that tension between Nell and Eve is literally palpable β I was on edge the whole time wondering what they were going to do next
