Cheltenham tips: Spillane's Tower fancied to see off Grey Dawning on Trials Day

Grey Dawning Favored to Win Cotswold Chase, But Spillane's Tower Gives Him a Run for His Money.

Cheltenham Trials Day is fast approaching, and the weekend team at Weekend Winners are weighing in on the top contenders for the Cotswold Chase. The event has been used as a Cheltenham Gold Cup trial in the past and will feature four runners vying for the win.

Grey Dawning, currently leading the betting, is favored to take home the prize, but JP McManus' Spillane's Tower is giving him a run for his money. The three-year-old has been touted as a potential winner of the Gold Cup in March and will be putting his skills to the test on Trials Day.

Declan Rix from Weekend Winners believes that L'Homme Presse sets a good standard for the field, despite having an abysmal stable record. He thinks Charlie Deutsch can control the pace from the front and dictate the terms of the race.

Kate Tracey is backing Grey Dawning to take home the win, citing his impressive form in the Betfair Chase at Haydock as evidence of his abilities. However, she acknowledges that he carries a penalty, which may be a concern for some.

On the other hand, Sam Boswell sees Spillane's Tower as the value bet, despite being the only one of the four runners to have never won at a festival. His form behind Galopin Des Champs has been impressive, and his record over three miles is quite good – barring a blip at Kempton.

The Cotswold Chase promises to be an exciting event on Trials Day, with all four contenders having something to prove. Will Grey Dawning's impressive form carry him to victory, or will one of the other three runners steal the show?

lol Spillane's Tower is giving Grey Dawning a run for his money and I think it's awesome! JP McManus' horse has been doing some crazy good stuff behind Galopin Des Champs and his form over 3 miles is on point. I'm loving the value bet vibes here... Sam Boswell knows what's up 🀩. Grey Dawning's got a penalty to worry about, but I think he can still hold his own. It's gonna be an epic battle out there! πŸ΄πŸ’¨

Omg, I'm so hyped for the Cotswold Chase! πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ It's going to be a real nail-biter with all four contenders throwing their hat into the ring. Grey Dawning is definitely looking like the fave at the moment, but Spillane's Tower has got some serious game, you know? 😎 Sam Boswell's pick looks like a solid value bet in my books - that three-mile record of his is pretty impressive. And let's not forget L'Homme Presse, who sets the standard for the rest of the field despite his stable record being sketchy. It'll be interesting to see how Charlie Deutsch controls the pace and how Grey Dawning handles his penalty. The suspense is killing me! 🀯

πŸ† I'm so stoked for the Cotswold Chase on Trials Day! Grey Dawning is definitely looking strong, but Spillane's Tower has got some serious skills too 🐴πŸ’ͺ. I think what's gonna make this race interesting is how they all react to L'Homme Presse setting the pace from the front. If Charlie Deutsch can control that horse and keep them in check, it could be a real nail-biter πŸ’₯. And let's not forget about Spillane's Tower - three miles is a big ask for any horse, but if he can pull off an upset, it'll be pure magic ✨. Bring on the action! πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

I was so caught up in watching the rest of the weekend's racing that I totally missed this thread πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. So I'm guessing Spillane's Tower has a decent chance now since Grey Dawning is carrying a penalty πŸ€”. L'Homme Presse seems like a good benchmark for the others, but we don't know much about him yet. I'm intrigued by Sam Boswell's choice – never won at a festival before, that's got to count for something right? βš–οΈ

πŸ€” I think its gonna be close between Grey Dawning & Spillane's Tower lol! Both have shown some sick speed & agility over hurdles... and grey dawning is so strong on paper but spillaanes tower hasnt done anything wrong either πŸ€‘. personally i'm backing spillanes tower as hes got some decent form behind galopin des champs... plus hes never been beat at a festival yet that's gotta count for somethin πŸ’ͺ

I gotta say, I'm loving this whole Cheltenham hype πŸ΄πŸ’¨ but I'm super skeptical about these top contenders. Grey Dawning is looking solid right now, no doubt, but that penalty he carries is gonna make him a tough ticket to take home the win πŸ€‘. Spillane's Tower is definitely giving him some heat though - three miles isn't an easy distance to navigate, and Sam Boswell's stats are pretty impressive πŸ“Š. I'm not sold on L'Homme Presse just yet, stable record or not... he needs to do better than that πŸ’”. Can't wait for Trials Day and seeing which one of these horses is the real deal πŸ’ͺ

I'm loving the hype around this year's Cotswold Chase! 🐴 I think Spillane's Tower has a legit shot at taking down Grey Dawning - 3 miles is his bread & butter and he's been running lights on Galopin Des Champs. Don't sleep on L'Homme Presse either, I reckon he sets the standard for the rest of them. πŸ’ͺ My money's on this one though...
