'Can't wait': Daniel Radcliffe to make Broadway return in Every Brilliant Thing

Daniel Radcliffe to Star in Broadway Premiere of Every Brilliant Thing, A Play About Mental Health

Actor Daniel Radcliffe is set to make his Broadway return in the critically acclaimed one-person play "Every Brilliant Thing", which tackles the sensitive topic of depression. The show will premiere at the Hudson Theatre in New York from February 21 to May 24, 2026.

Written by Duncan Macmillan and originally starring Jonny Donahoe, the play has been a global phenomenon since its debut at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2014. It tells the story of a child who reacts to their mother's suicide attempt, making a list of all the things that make life worth living – with the audience encouraged to join in by shouting out the listed reasons. As the child grows into an adult, the list evolves to include words from adults who need reasons to remain hopeful.

The play has been tailored for various audiences, incorporating local references and themes in its productions worldwide. In Greece, it was infused with 90s Greek popular culture, while in Singapore, a reference to a specific brand of ice cream was added.

Radcliffe is no stranger to Broadway, having previously performed in "The Lifespan of a Fact", "Privacy", and the record-breaking run of "Merrily We Roll Along". The actor, who rose to fame as a child star in the Harry Potter films, has been making waves on stage since 2007.

Director Duncan Macmillan is thrilled to have Radcliffe join the production. "He has the intelligence, quick wit and charm to roll with the spontaneous moments that the show invites," he said. "He has huge depth and humanity – I couldn't be more thrilled."

As part of his commitment to mental health awareness, Radcliffe's involvement in "Every Brilliant Thing" is expected to bring attention to this important topic, particularly among a new generation of young people.

Ugh, another rich celebrity trying to use their platform for good πŸ€‘. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's great that Daniel Radcliffe wants to raise awareness about mental health, but let's be real, he's not exactly the poster child for mental wellness himself πŸ˜’. I've seen his tweets about depression and anxiety, and let's just say they're not as inspiring as "look at me, I'm a famous actor doing a play about mental health" πŸ™„.

And what's with the whole audience participation thing? Like, are we really supposed to be shouting out random reasons for life to be worth living? It sounds like some cheesy therapy session gone wrong 🀣. And don't even get me started on how they're "tailoring" the play for different audiences with local references and themes. Just another way to pander to people's emotions, if you ask me πŸ˜’.

I'm sure it'll be a huge success and bring in tons of money, but honestly, I just can't shake the feeling that Radcliffe is using this as a way to boost his own ego rather than actually making a genuine impact πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ.

πŸ€” so happy for Daniel Radcliffe... again πŸ™ƒ he's had such an iconic career it's nice to see him taking on another challenging role like this 🌟 and i love that the play incorporates audience participation – it's a great way to make mental health discussions more engaging & accessible πŸ“š what's interesting is how they've tailored the show for different audiences in different countries... does that say something about global mental health needs or just how adaptable a 90s British pop culture reference can be πŸ˜‚

I gotta say, Daniel Radcliffe's involvement in 'Every Brilliant Thing' is super inspiring 🌟. As someone who's struggled with mental health issues myself, it's amazing to see him using his platform to raise awareness and break the stigma around depression. The fact that he's going to be joining an audience of people who might not have experienced this on a personal level but can still relate through empathy is just... wow πŸ’–. I think what I love most about this show is how it encourages us to put our hands up and shout out all the things that make life worth living – it's like we're all in this together, you know? 🌈 And the fact that Duncan Macmillan has tailored the play for different audiences, incorporating local references and themes, just shows how much love and care he's put into creating a safe space for people to share their thoughts and feelings. It's gonna be an amazing show, for sure! πŸ’₯

aww dude im so stoked that dan radcliffe is getting back on broadway i think its such an amazing idea for him to be a part of this play about mental health it takes so much courage to talk about these kinds of things πŸ€— especially when you're in the public eye. i hope its gonna help people feel less alone and more hopeful i've seen friends deal with anxiety and depression and it can feel like everything is just too hard sometimes but having some spark of light to hold onto can make all the difference ✨

Omg yaaas! 🀩 Daniel Radcliffe is going to be in Every Brilliant Thing and I am SO down! 😍 He's already shown his acting chops on stage before and this play sounds so powerful about mental health. It's amazing that he's using his platform for such an important cause, especially for the younger generation who need to know they're not alone πŸ€—. Can't wait to see it on Broadway! πŸ’«

🀯 you know what really struck me about this play... its not just about the mental health struggles of the protagonist, but how we all can help by sharing what makes life worth living πŸŒŽπŸ’‘ think about it, when was the last time you told someone why they're still here? πŸ€” its easy to get stuck in our own problems, but having someone else's story and reasons to live can be super powerful 😊

πŸ€” so radcliffe's doing this play about mental health which is super cool i mean its great that he's stepping out of his comfort zone and using his platform for something meaningful πŸ‘ the way they've incorporated audience participation is genius - it makes you feel invested in the story πŸ’‘ what i love most is how the show has evolved over time to include local references, it shows how mental health struggles are unique to each culture 🌎

i'm actually kinda excited for this because radcliffe's not just some rich celebrity with a platform he's someone who genuinely cares about mental health awareness πŸ’• and as an actor, he can bring so much depth and emotion to the role 🎭 let's hope that this production will help spark conversations and raise awareness among young people πŸ€—

I'm so stoked for Daniel Radcliffe's return to Broadway! He's an amazing actor and I've loved him since the Harry Potter days πŸ§™β€β™‚οΈπŸ’«. But what really drew me to "Every Brilliant Thing" is that it tackles a topic that's so close to my heart - mental health. As someone who's struggled with anxiety, it's amazing to see a play that shines a light on this important issue without shying away from the tough stuff 🌟. With Daniel's involvement, I know it's going to be a game-changer for young people (and us adults too!) to feel like they're not alone in their struggles πŸ’•. Bring on February 21st and let's get ready to shout out all the things that make life worth living! πŸŽ‰

omg I'm literally so hyped about dan rads doing every brilliant thing on broadway!!! 🀩🎭 i mean its such a great show and he's going to be amazing in it trust me he's been killing it on stage since harry potter days and this is just another chapter in his career lol but seriously the topic of mental health is so important especially for young people and dan rads involvement is a huge plus let's get behind him & Duncan macmillan for making a difference πŸŒŸπŸ’–

I'm not sure how excited I am about Daniel Radcliffe starring in "Every Brilliant Thing". Don't get me wrong, it's great that he's using his platform to raise awareness about mental health πŸ€”. But can't we just talk about this stuff openly without a play? It feels like a bit of a gimmick to me 🎭. I mean, is the show actually going to make people think or just provide a feel-good experience? And what's with all these local references and themes being added in different productions? Is that really necessary? I'm not trying to be critical, but as someone who follows trends, I've seen too many fads come and go πŸ’. Can we please have some substance behind this awareness campaign? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

πŸ€” I'm like totally stoked about Daniel Radcliffe returning to Broadway! But honestly, I think it's kinda awesome that he's taking on a role that talks about mental health – it's an issue that needs way more attention. The show is super clever how it makes the audience participate by shouting out reasons for life... it's like, really interactive and stuff 🀝. I've seen some of the versions they've done worldwide and each one's unique, which is awesome. Radcliffe's been doing this for a while now, but this role seems especially important since he started out as a kid actor. Let's hope it brings in a new crowd who'll learn something about mental health 🀞.
