Betting on catastrophe: the dizzying rise of prediction markets

just think about it... prediction markets are kinda like a twisted version of betting on sports, but instead of just sports, they're betting on actual events that affect people's lives 🤯... i mean, what's next? betting on whether a certain politician will get sick or not? or how many people will die in a natural disaster? it's all about making money off other people's misfortunes, if you ask me 😒... and the fact that they're using blockchain tech to make it seem legit is just plain sketchy 🤔

I'm totally skeptical about these prediction market platforms 🤔. I mean, think about it, people are basically betting on stuff that can affect real lives and global politics... it's just not right 😒. And what really gets me is how they're trying to justify this as some kind of "informed wager" thing, like we should be all for it because it's "market forces" 🤑. Newsflash: just because something is on a platform doesn't make it okay 💸. We need to start thinking about the human impact here and not just the financial aspect 💔. And can we please just have some real regulation around these platforms? This whole thing feels like a recipe for disaster 🚨.
