Anti-Fascism Musical ‘Cable Street’ to Open Brits Off Broadway (EXCLUSIVE)

Critical Acclaim Travels Across the Pond as "Cable Street" Brings Anti-Fascist Musical to Brits Off Broadway

A powerful and poignant musical, critically acclaimed in its London run, is set to make its international debut at 59E59 Theaters' Brits Off Broadway festival this spring. "Cable Street," which premiered in the UK last year, will open on April 26th and run through May 24th, bringing a vital story of resistance and unity to audiences in New York.

Set against the backdrop of 1930s East London, where over 100,000 residents from diverse backgrounds united to oppose the rise of fascism in their community, "Cable Street" explores themes of division, identity, and solidarity that resonate deeply with contemporary social issues. The production boasts an award-nominated cast and creative team, including Debbie Chazen as Kathleen, Ethan Pascal Peters as Moishe, and Max Alexander Taylor as Sean.

The ensemble is rounded out by talented performers such as Aoife Mac Namara, Jez Unwin, Lizzy Rose Esin Kelly, Isaac Gryn, and Barney Wilkinson, among others. Multi-award winning composer Tim Gilvin has penned the score and lyrics, with book by Alex Kanefsky.

Adam Lenson directs this powerful production, which is co-produced by 10 to 4 Productions and Neil Marcus as associate producer. The musical's creator, Dylan Schlosberg, notes that despite being rooted in a specific historical moment, "Cable Street" feels unmistakably current, and he is confident that New York audiences will relate to its themes.

By presenting "Cable Street" at Brits Off Broadway, the festival aims to celebrate independent British theater, providing professional space and expertise for non-profit companies to premiere their work in New York. With tickets now available from January 27th, audiences can experience this timely and thought-provoking musical that is set to ignite conversation and reflection on the power of community and resistance.

I'm so down for this one 🤩! I mean, who doesn't love a good story about unity in the face of adversity? The layout of the Brits Off Broadway festival schedule is looking super tight tho - 59E59 has always been on point with their programming 📆. But seriously, "Cable Street" sounds like an incredible production, and I'm excited to see how it translates to a New York audience. I just hope they don't skimp on the design elements - I'd love to see some bold typography and color schemes bring the story to life 🎨. And can we talk about that cast for a second? Ethan Pascal Peters is giving me major "it guy" vibes, lol 🤣. Anyway, I'll definitely be checking out "Cable Street" when it opens on April 26th - thanks for the heads up! 👍

🤔 I'm excited to see "Cable Street" come to NYC but gotta be real, it's gonna be tough to recreate the London energy. The UK has a different vibe going on over there - all that history, protests, and social change... it's hard to translate that to our city. Plus, 1930s East London was way more raw than what we see today 📸 Still, I hope the show brings some much-needed attention to the struggles of marginalized communities. The Brits Off Broadway festival is a great platform for new works like this one - here's hoping it sparks some real conversation and change 💡

You know how we used to love our community events back in the day? Like when we'd all come together for a festival or parade? It's so cool to see how "Cable Street" is bringing that same vibe, but with a message that still feels super relevant today 🙌. I mean, who doesn't want to talk about unity and resistance? It's like they're saying, "Hey, remember when we came together to fight for what was right?" And now, it's all about being vigilant and standing up for our rights again 💪. The fact that this musical is making its way from London to the States is pretty awesome too – I'm sure it'll be a hit! Can't wait to see it on Broadway... or at least, in New York 🎭
