A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms review – this is the Game of Thrones we all need now

In a world where Westeros has become our own, George R.R Martin's A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms offers a refreshing respite from the all-consuming chaos that is our reality. This medieval fantasy series, set 100 years before the events of Game of Thrones, boasts an endearing cast of characters – specifically its protagonists, Dunk and Egg – whose innocence and camaraderie serve as a stark contrast to the depravity we've grown accustomed to.

Dunk, a simple soul with a heart of gold, sets out on a journey to find his place in the world, armed with little more than his wits and a sturdy sword. His squire, Egg – an ethereal child with a profound understanding of the world – joins him on this odyssey, bringing much-needed guidance and emotional support to Dunk's journey.

The series eschews the fast-paced action and gruesome violence that defines Game of Thrones, instead opting for a gentler narrative that focuses on the budding friendship between Dunk and Egg. While not lacking in intensity, the show is decidedly less graphic than its predecessor, with "torture" relegated to imagination rather than explicit depiction.

This departure from the norm raises an intriguing question: who is the intended audience for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms? Children might find this tale too simplistic, epic fantasy fans may not be drawn in by the lack of magic and sorcery. However, as we navigate a world increasingly reminiscent of Westeros ourselves, perhaps that's exactly why Martin has created something so refreshingly tame.

By stripping away the grandeur and instead focusing on the quiet moments between two young men – one seeking protection from an uncertain future, the other offering solace in his wisdom – A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms reminds us that even in our darkest times, friendship can be a powerful force for good.

I mean think about it fam 😂... people say this show is gentle compared to Game of Thrones, but what's wrong with taking a break from all that toxicity? In my opinion, the whole point of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is that it's not trying to be as heavy as GoT. It's like taking a deep breath and saying "hey, let's focus on something else for a sec". And honestly, I think that's what we need right now - some reprieve from all the craziness in our own world 🌎

I love how Dunk and Egg's story is like a breath of fresh air after all the craziness we've seen on GoT 🌟. I think this series is perfect for parents who want to watch something with their kids but still get that epic fantasy vibe. It's not too gory or intense, which is great for those of us who worry about what our little ones are exposed to on screen. Plus, the friendship between Dunk and Egg is just so heartwarming 🤗. I also love how it shows that even in tough times, having a good friend by your side can make all the difference. It's like a big ol' hug for your soul ❤️.

im not sure about this series i mean its got some nice moments especially with dunk and egg's friendship but its also super slow-paced like dude we dont have time to watch 10 episodes of people eating and talking 😴👀 the violence is definitely less graphic but still its a fantasy show what did martin expect? and i can see why some people might think its too simplistic or not epic fantasy enough but for me it feels more real than game of thrones sometimes we just need to take a break from all that bloodshed and drama 🤯👑

🤩 I am literally so done with all the darkness and violence in our reality, you know? It's like we've forgotten what it means to have real relationships and friendships. This series is just a breath of fresh air, you feel? Dunk and Egg's bond is so wholesome it's giving me life 😊. I love how it focuses on their character development and interactions, no need for all that drama and gore. It's like Martin is saying, "Hey, we don't have to be brutal all the time." And honestly, who wouldn't want a show about friendship being the answer to all our problems? 🤗

OMG, yaaas 🤩 I'm literally OBSESSED with this medieval fantasy series, especially Dunk and Egg's bromance 💕! It's like, totally refreshing to see a show that's all about the emotional journey of two young men instead of just epic battles and gore 😒. And can we talk about how relatable it is? Like, who hasn't felt lost or uncertain about their place in the world at some point? 🤔 Dunk's story is so inspiring! I'm totally shipping him and Egg's friendship 💗, and I love how the show focuses on the quiet moments between them. It's like, we're living in a Westeros-esque world right now 🌟, but this series reminds us that even in chaos, friendship can be a superpower 💪.

I'm really intrigued by this series, it's like Martin is trying to tell us that sometimes you need to slow down and look at the beauty in the mundane things... I mean, Dunk and Egg's journey isn't about saving the world from dragons or warring kingdoms, it's about finding your place and connection with someone else. And I think that's what we're really missing in our chaotic lives, a sense of community and understanding. It's like, what if instead of all this drama and bloodshed, we just took a step back and looked at each other... 🤗

omg I'm loving this medieval fantasy vibe rn 🤩🏰 the idea that Dunk and Egg's journey is all about their friendship and growth feels so refreshing after all the drama and bloodshed of Game of Thrones 🙅‍♂️ especially with how they're not relying on magic or sorcery to save the day, it's all about their wits and each other 💡👫

I'm so down for this show 🤩. I mean, who doesn't need a break from all the drama and violence? Dunk and Egg are like the ultimate odd couple - Dunk's all about being a good guy, while Egg is just trying to figure out life. It's refreshing to see them navigate their own problems without all the bells and whistles of Game of Thrones 🔔. Plus, it's cool how Martin has toned down the graphic stuff and focused on character development. I think that's what makes this show so relatable - we've been there too with our own friendships and struggles 😊. And yeah, maybe it's not for everyone (looking at you, epic fantasy fans 🤣), but I say, who doesn't need a little bit of gentle goodness in their lives? ❤️

I'm totally loving this medieval fantasy series 🤩... no wait, I mean I'm not sure if it's my cup of tea at all 😐. I think it's kinda refreshing to see a change of pace from the usual Game of Thrones vibes, but at the same time, I kinda miss the epic battles and dragons 🦖. Dunk and Egg are likeable characters or whatever, but I'm not sure if their friendship is enough to carry the whole show... maybe? 🤔

I just started watching this A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms thing on HBO and I'm kinda confused 😕 I mean, I thought it was going to be like Game of Thrones or something but it's actually really slow 🙄 I don't get why Dunk and Egg are so likable they're not even super strong warriors or anything 💪 But I guess that's the point? It's all about their friendship and stuff 🤗 Does anyone know how many seasons there is gonna be? 🤔

omg i just binged this show and it's literally been a breath of fresh air 🌿📺 i mean don't get me wrong game of thrones is epic but after all the bloodshed and drama its nice to see something that focuses on friendship and growth instead 🤝💕 dunk and egg are literally my spirit duo 🙋‍♂️👫 and i love how martin has toned down the violence and graphic content to make it more accessible to everyone ❤️🌈

omg i am literally obsessed with Dunk and Egg 🤩 i feel like they're my cousins or something lol Dunk's struggle to find his place in the world is so relatable u know when ur trying to figure out who u r and where u fit in life ? Egg on the other hand is like the ultimate best friend i need someone like that in my life btw i think its kinda weird how Dunk is all "i'm a knight" but really hes just a clumsy kid with a sword 😂

omg u no i'm literally dyin over Dunk and Egg rn their bond is everything 🤩👫 i mean i've been through so much in my life but it's crazy how much emotional support i need sometimes lol and tbh i feel like this show is like a big ol hug for me - all that drama and violence from Game of Thrones can be kinda overwhelming 🤯 i'm not sayin' A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is perfect or anything, but Dunk's simplicity and Egg's wisdom are like the ultimate reminder that sometimes less is more 💭 my bestie is actually reading this series rn and she says it's super relatable to our own struggles with anxiety and stuff 🤗
