A cute frog game that remixes Nintendo’s best

Newcomer Big Hops is a charming 3D platformer that not only pays homage to Nintendo's best games but also cleverly subverts and improves upon their mechanics. As the game progresses, players will find themselves developing creative solutions to its various challenges.

The gameplay revolves around Hop, an endearing frog protagonist who uses his tongue as a versatile tool for interaction. This tongue-slinging mechanic allows players to manipulate objects, climb walls, and even snag foods with special powers that can aid in puzzle-solving.

By combining the tongue's abilities with traditional platforming elements – such as Super Mario-like jumps and dives, as well as Zelda-esque stamina meters for climbing walls – Hop is able to traverse the colorful, cartoon worlds with ease. The inclusion of special foods, which grant unique abilities when consumed, further enhances the sense of creative problem-solving.

One notable feature of Big Hops is its encouragement of player creativity and experimentation. Players are rewarded for finding innovative solutions to challenges, rather than simply following a predetermined path. This encourages exploration and experimentation, which in turn leads to a more immersive and engaging gameplay experience.

Throughout its varied environments, from secret areas reminiscent of Super Mario Sunshine to intricate sewer sections that evoke The Legend of Zelda series, Big Hops proves itself to be a loving tribute to Nintendo's iconic games. What sets it apart is the way these influences are skillfully woven into a cohesive whole, resulting in an engaging and challenging platformer.

Overall, Big Hops is a delightful surprise for fans of 3D Nintendo games, showcasing both familiar mechanics and innovative twists that set it apart from other titles in its genre.

I don’t usually comment but I just finished playing Big Hops and I gotta say it's so charming! The tongue-slinging mechanic is genius 🤔. I love how they combined traditional platforming elements with the unique tongue abilities, it makes the gameplay feel so fresh and exciting. And the encouragement of player creativity is a game-changer (no pun intended) 👏. It's amazing to see how the developers paid homage to Nintendo's classics while still making the game their own. I think what really sets Big Hops apart is its sense of exploration and experimentation - it feels like you're truly discovering new things as you play through the levels 🌟.

I'm loving the creativity in Big Hops! The tongue-slinging mechanic is so cool, I feel like Hop's got some serious ninja skills 🤸‍♂️. And I love how they're encouraging players to experiment and find their own solutions – it adds such a fun layer of depth to the gameplay. Plus, who wouldn't want to explore colorful cartoon worlds with special foods that grant awesome powers? 😍 The way they've combined all these different elements is pure magic ✨. It's clear they're huge Nintendo fans, but in a good way – like, they're celebrating the best of what those games have to offer rather than just copying them. Overall, I'm stoked to see more games taking risks and trying new things 💪!

I think what I love about Big Hops is how it balances nostalgia with innovation 🤩. The tongue-slinging mechanic is so clever! I mean, who wouldn't want to use their tongue as a grappling hook or a magnet? 😂 It's amazing how they've taken these simple ideas and turned them into something so versatile and fun.

But what really gets me is how the game encourages you to think outside the box. Like, don't just stick to one way of solving a puzzle – try it this way, that way, or even upside down 😄. It's like they're saying, "Hey, we know this is a familiar platformer, but let's see what kind of creative chaos we can stir up!" 🎨

For me, the game's biggest strength is its sense of progression and discovery. You're not just mindlessly jumping from one checkpoint to the next – you're actually exploring, experimenting, and learning as you go. And that, for me, is where the real magic happens 🌟

I'm so stoked to hear about this new game Big Hops 🤩! The idea of playing as a frog with a tongue that can do all sorts of cool things sounds like so much fun 😂. I love how the gameplay combines traditional platforming elements with some really creative twists, like using special foods to get an edge.

What I'm most excited about is that it seems to encourage players to think outside the box and come up with their own solutions to challenges 🤔. That's exactly what makes playing games so rewarding - feeling like you've figured something out on your own. And the fact that it rewards creative problem-solving is just a bonus win 🎉.

I'm a bit worried I'll get stuck in some of those secret areas though 😅. But overall, Big Hops sounds like an absolute blast to play, and I'm definitely adding it to my gaming queue 📝!

idk why they had to include zelda's stamina meter tho lol 🤣, i mean its cool and all but i feel like its kinda unnecessary, cant we just stick with the traditional jump n dash thingy? also, the fact that you can snag food with special powers is so sick!!! its like they took all the best bits from super mario and zelda and mashed them together into one game 🎮💥

omg u guys i just beat big hops 🤩 and i'm literally speechless! i loved how the game rewarded me for finding creative solutions to challenges instead of just following the "right" path... like, it's so refreshing to feel like i'm actually making progress because of my own thinking 🤓. and can we talk about hop's tongue mechanic?!?! 😂👍 it's like, who needs a health bar when you have a trusty tongue that can snag food and help u outta sticky situations 🍴💦. the graphics are also so colorful and fun! i felt like i was hopping through a cartoon world (lol get it? big hops?) 🎨👌

I just beat Big Hops and I gotta say, it's such a breath of fresh air! The tongue mechanic is so clever, I loved figuring out all the different ways to use Hop's tongue to solve puzzles. And the best part? It doesn't feel like you're just following the same old paths everyone else took - there are so many hidden areas and secrets to discover. 😊👍

idk what all the fuss is about with big hops its just another game 🤔. sure its got some sick tongue-slinging mechanics but i mean, its not like its breaking new ground or anything 🙄. and dont even get me started on how its just a rehash of nintendo games...im not mad at it for paying homage tho lol 😂. its just a fun little platformer that does what its supposed to do 👍

I'm loving the vibes of Big Hops so far! I mean, who wouldn't want to play as a tongue-slinging frog? 🐸💦 The way they've combined classic Nintendo mechanics with this new twist is pure genius. It's like they took all the best bits from Super Mario and Zelda and mashed them together with some innovative problem-solving tools. And I love how it encourages players to think outside the box - finding creative solutions to challenges rather than just following a set path is so satisfying! 🤔 The game's world design is also super charming, with those secret areas in Super Mario Sunshine style 😊 and that intricate sewer section from Zelda... it's like they're paying homage to the best of Nintendo without copying them. Overall, I'm hyped to see where this game takes us! 💥

I just beat this game and OMG I'm still reeling from the creative freedom! 🤯 The way they reward players for thinking outside the box is so satisfying. I found myself trying out crazy combinations of tongue-slings and food powers, and when it worked, man it was exhilarating 😆. The level design is top-notch too - those secret areas are pure nostalgia. Big Hops has definitely rekindled my love for classic Nintendo games. Can't wait to play more platformers like this! 💥

The way they've incorporated special foods and unique abilities is pure genius 😂. And can we talk about how it encourages creativity and experimentation? That's what makes the gameplay so immersive and engaging for me 🤔.

I'm also super impressed with how they've woven together all these different Nintendo influences into a cohesive whole. The secret areas and sewer sections had me feeling like I was exploring an actual Mario or Zelda game 🤫.
