US Citizen Shot and Killed by Federal Agents in Minneapolis Amid Protests

A 37-year-old American citizen was fatally shot by federal agents in Minneapolis, the second such killing in less than three weeks. The victim, Alex Pretti, a registered nurse working at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System, had been unarmed when confronted by the law enforcement officers.

According to eyewitnesses and video footage, Pretti appeared to have come to the defense of an observer who was shoved to the ground by a federal officer. The agent then sprayed Pretti with a chemical agent before tackling him to the street along with other agents. At least one shot was fired at close range, followed by a volley of more shots.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage and calls for accountability from local officials and community members. "We are heartbroken, but also very angry," said Michael and Susan Pretti, Alex's parents, in a statement. "Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately, he will not be with us to see his impact."

The Minneapolis police chief stated that Pretti lived in Minneapolis, was an American citizen, and had no prior interactions with law enforcement except for traffic tickets. He also noted that Pretti was a lawful gun owner with a permit to carry.

President Trump has reacted to the shooting by blaming local Minnesota lawmakers and accusing them of inciting insurrection with their rhetoric. This comes as seven Democratic members of the US House voted to extend funding for the Department of Homeland Security, which includes immigration and border patrol agents in Minneapolis.

The city of Minneapolis is now filing a declaration to push for an immediate ruling on a temporary restraining order. Local officials have requested national guard assistance to support their 600 police officers, while community service officers deliver food to residents afraid to leave home.

As the situation continues to unfold, protests are expected to remain peaceful but tense. Officials urge community members who wish to demonstrate to continue doing so safely and to stay away from the scene at this time.

The deadly shootings of Good and Pretti have renewed anger among Democrats over the decision to extend funding for the Department of Homeland Security. Local county commissioners have called for the removal of federal agents, while Democratic National Committee Chair Ken Martin has expressed frustration with the situation.

๐Ÿค• This is just too much. Another innocent life lost and it's sparking so much outrage... I feel like we're never moving forward as a society. The lack of trust between law enforcement and the community is just heartbreaking ๐Ÿค. And to have this happen right before our eyes, in broad daylight, makes me want to scream. ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ It's not even about the politics or the rhetoric, it's about human life and dignity being valued ๐Ÿ’”. What can we do as a collective to make sure something like this never happens again? Can we demand more accountability from our leaders? Should we be holding them accountable for every single interaction between police and civilians? ๐Ÿค”

๐Ÿค• my heart is literally breaking for this poor guy he was just trying to help some1 in need and what happens next? ๐Ÿ˜ข federal agents shoot him dead... it's just not right. and trump blaming local lawmakers for inciting insurrection? give me a break... ๐Ÿ™„ the fact that his parents are saying their son wanted to make a difference in this world makes me even more angry. ๐Ÿคฌ we need to see some serious change here, like accountability for these agents and better training on how to handle situations like this without resorting to violence ๐Ÿ’ช

๐Ÿค• This is just another example of how America's systemic issues are coming to a head ๐Ÿšจ. I mean, think about it - a 37-year-old nurse gets caught in the middle of a protest and ends up getting killed by federal agents ๐Ÿ’€. Is this really what we're fighting for? The fact that our politicians can't even get their acts together to find common ground is just devastating ๐Ÿ˜”.

And now President Trump is blaming local lawmakers for inciting insurrection ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. Meanwhile, he's the one who's fueling the fire with his divisive rhetoric ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ. And let's not forget that seven Democratic members of the House voted to extend funding for the Department of Homeland Security ๐Ÿ“Š - are they really trying to help or are they just perpetuating the problem? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ.

This is what we need more of: accountability and unity, not division and blame-shifting ๐Ÿค. We can't keep ignoring these issues and expecting things to get better on their own ๐Ÿ’ช. We need real change, and we need it now โฐ.

๐Ÿค” come on people... protests are one thing but violence is another story... ๐Ÿšซ if you wanna make a difference then get involved peacefully... but no need to throw lives in the crossfire ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ alex pretti was just trying to help out and what did he get? ๐Ÿ’€ 2 bullets from federal agents who were supposed to be protecting him ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ now his parents are left to pick up the pieces & we're all just sitting here wondering if it's all worth it ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

This is so sad ๐Ÿค•... I mean, think about it - a guy just wants to help someone out and he ends up getting shot by the people he trusted to keep him safe? ๐Ÿ˜ฑ It's like, what even is that?! The fact that his parents are saying he wanted to make a difference in this world makes me wanna cry. ๐Ÿคฏ And now we're seeing all these protests and tensions... it just feels like things can't get any more messed up. ๐Ÿ’”

I dont think its fair that people r so quick 2 judge & condemn Alex Pretti like dat. sounds like hes just another victim of circumstance. what if he didnt have a gun? or didnt know how 2 handle himself in that situation? ppl need 2 calm down & think about whats really goin on here. maybe there was an alternative way 4 Alex 2 resolve the situation, we dont no for sure. instead of finger pointin at politicians, lets try 2 understand what happened & how we can prevent it from happenin again ๐Ÿ˜Š

omg what's going on in minneapolis ๐Ÿค•, like another person gets killed by fed agents and now everyone's all upset ๐Ÿ˜ก, i mean cant they just chill and dont make it so tense? ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ, alex pretti wasnt even armed when he got shot lol, what if the cops didnt show up? ๐Ÿค” would america be in better shape or something ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ. anyway, gotta feel for his fam ๐Ÿ’•

๐Ÿค• what's going on with all these cops killing innocent ppl in the US? ๐Ÿคฏ like, Alex Pretti was just trying to defend someone and get sprayed with this chemical agent... it's so messed up! ๐Ÿ’‰ And now his parents are left to deal with their grief and anger, and everyone's just expecting them to just move on from it? ๐Ÿ˜ฉ I mean, the fact that President Trump is already blaming local lawmakers for inciting violence is just low. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ It's not like this has anything to do with immigration or whatever... it's just plain old police brutality! ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ And can we talk about how ridiculous it is that they're pushing for a temporary restraining order now? Like, what were they doing all those months when these protests were happening?! ๐Ÿค” It's just not fair to the people who are still waiting for justice...

๐Ÿค” I'm really worried about this Alex Pretti guy, what a tragic loss of life ๐Ÿ’”. As a nurse and all, he must've been trying to protect someone else when these cops just lost it ๐Ÿ˜ก. Now his parents are grieving and the community is super upset ๐ŸŒŸ. The fact that Trump is blaming lawmakers for inciting insurrection just makes things worse ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. We need answers here! How did this happen? What were these agents thinking? ๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ’ฅ I hope the investigation gets to the bottom of it and justice is served ๐Ÿ’ฏ.

man dis is such a sad ting ๐Ÿค•... can't believe a innocent guy like Alex was killed in the line of duty or whatever ๐Ÿšจ... like what's the point of having laws if we just gonna let federal agents run amok? ๐Ÿ˜’... and now the President is tryin to deflect blame onto some MN lawmakers? really? that's just lazy ๐Ÿ™„... shouldn't he be callin out the real culprits, like the cops who pulled the trigger? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ... the fact that they're filin a restraining order and askin for national guard assistance is just coverin up the truth ๐Ÿšซ... Alex was just tryna do some good, and now he's gone ๐Ÿ’”... it's all so messed up ๐Ÿคฏ...

Ugh ๐Ÿค•๐Ÿ’” I'm so sad about this... Another innocent person ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ lost to senseless violence ๐Ÿ’€. Can't we just live in peace ๐ŸŒŽ? These federal agents should be held accountable ๐Ÿšซ for their actions. It's not right that they're targeting unarmed civilians ๐Ÿ‘ฅ with chemicals and guns ๐Ÿšฝ. The fact that Alex was a registered nurse ๐Ÿฅ trying to help someone who was shoved is just heartbreaking ๐Ÿ˜ญ. We need more love and less hate โค๏ธ in our communities ๐Ÿ’–.

This is so sad ๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿ‘Ž. Can you believe what happened to Alex Pretti? I mean, he was just trying to help someone who got shoved by a federal officer and look what happens next ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. It's like they came for him with their guns blazing ๐Ÿ’€. I don't get why President Trump is blaming the Minnesota lawmakers, like that's gonna solve anything ๐Ÿ™„. And can we talk about how his reaction just makes things worse? It's like he's trying to stir up more chaos โšก๏ธ.

I'm glad that some people in Minneapolis are pushing for change though ๐Ÿ’ช. They deserve better than to have federal agents showing up and spraying people with chemical agents ๐Ÿšฝ. And yeah, it's crazy how the Democrats are getting frustrated with this too ๐Ÿคฏ. Can't we just get along? ๐Ÿ˜”

๐Ÿค• I'm really sad about this Alex Pretti guy getting killed by federal agents in Minneapolis ๐Ÿ˜ข. What's up with all these violent incidents happening during protests? Can't we just talk things out peacefully without someone getting hurt ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ? It's so frustrating that his parents are going through this, and their kid was just trying to help someone in need ๐Ÿ’”.

I don't think the president should be blaming the lawmakers for inciting insurrection ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ. That doesn't make sense. And can we please keep a level head here? We need to figure out why these things happen and how to prevent them from happening again ๐Ÿ”.

It's also really worrying that there are community members who are too scared to leave their homes because of all the unrest ๐Ÿ . Can't we find some way to bring people together instead of driving them apart? ๐Ÿ’–
