2 shot, 1 fatally, in Austin

Austin Shooting Leaves Victim Dead, Another Injured in South Side Violence

A double shooting left one person dead and another seriously injured over the weekend in Austin on the West Side of Chicago. According to police reports, two men aged 26 and 30 stood outside a home in the 500 block of North Central Avenue around 11:25 a.m. Saturday when three assailants emerged from a vehicle, opening fire.

The 30-year-old victim was rushed to Stroger Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, with authorities confirming that he had no identification on him at the time of the attack. His name remains undisclosed until further notice.

The 26-year-old victim suffered a graze wound on his foot and reportedly refused medical attention from responders.

Despite an investigation underway by Chicago police, no arrests have been made in connection to the shooting as of press time.

Details surrounding the motive behind the attack remain unclear, but this incident serves as another example of the ongoing violence plaguing South Side communities.

man this city is gonna be a war zone if we dont figure out what's going on already 🀯 south side is like, it's already hella violent now add to that and you get...this πŸ˜” 26 year old dude just 'cause he stood outside his home gets shot at...that's life or death stuff right there. and the fact that police still haven't made any arrests...it's all so frustrating πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ gotta keep pushing for answers tho

man this is so sad πŸ€• chicago is like a city with a lot of problems and gun violence is one of them unfortunately it's not just austin shooting that's happening every week in some other part of the city, or even the country...like what's going on in usa can't we find a way to stop this? πŸ€” also how do u expect ppl to feel safe if u don't know ur neighbors and cant walk down the street without worrying about being shot ? 🚫 need more community policing and support for those who are affected by this violence, not just arrest & prosecute

just saw this news and it's crazy how senseless these shootings are... 2 guys just standing outside a house and BAM! 3 guys come outta nowhere and start firing away πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ can't believe the victims name hasn't been released yet, feels like they're already being forgotten by the system πŸ•°οΈ only thing that's clear is that we need to keep talking about this violence and finding ways to stop it πŸ’¬

man dis is crazy whats goin on in chicago lately? 🀯 it seems like there's always some kinda shooting or other violence happenin somewhere in the city. i feel for the victims and their families, no one should have to go through that kind of pain. but at the same time, i cant help but wonder what's behind these attacks. is it just a matter of random violence or is there somethin more goin on? πŸ€” i know chicago's got a lot of history and issues, but it feels like its always bein reported on in the news. anywayz, my thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones πŸ’”

Man, this is so sad πŸ€•... but I see a glimmer of hope - I mean, have you seen the amazing response from the community? People are coming together to support the victims and their families, right? Like, I've been seeing posts on social media about fundraisers and vigils for the 30-year-old victim. That's what it's all about, man - spreading love and support in the midst of tragedy πŸ’–.

And, you know, I'm also thinking that maybe this incident will prompt some real change. Like, we need to talk about gun violence and how to prevent it. Maybe this is an opportunity for us to come together and find solutions, not just as individuals but as a city. We can make a difference, one small step at a time 🌈.

It's okay to be sad and angry too, of course - that's natural. But let's not give up, man. Let's keep pushing forward with love and positivity πŸ’ͺ.

man this is crazy another innocent person loses their life over senseless violence πŸ€• gotta feel for the 30 yr old dude who didn't even get to know his fate till it was too late RIP πŸ™ hope the police get some leads soon so justice can be served πŸ’Ό meanwhile we got a whole city dealing with this pain & trauma πŸ˜”

πŸ’” "The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page." I wish both victims could have left that page unturned 😒. It's heartbreaking to see innocent lives lost or affected in such senseless violence. We need to continue finding ways to bring communities together, promote understanding & peace. πŸ’–πŸŒŽ

man this is getting outta hand in chicago can't we just chill for one minute? first it's a stabbing then a double shooting and now another victim is dead and someone else is injured all this violence got to stop somewhere i feel so bad for the families of these victims they deserve better than to live in fear of gettin shot or stabbed on their own turf what's goin on chicago we need some answers and fast πŸ€•πŸŒ†

man this is so sad another life lost due to senseless violence πŸ€• u think chicago police are doing enough to keep ppl safe? 26 and 30 yrs old just standin outside a home and got caught up in some crazy situation 🚨 what's goin on with the community here? more ppl need to talk about this stuff and find a way to move forward πŸ’¬

man this is so senseless 🀯 like, how can we even live with all this gun violence going on? πŸ€• and that one guy didn't have ID on him, poor dude πŸ˜” what's supposed to happen to people who don't have ID in an emergency situation? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ it's not like they're just gonna disappear... anyway, it's always the same story, some guys in a car, guns blazing, and innocent lives lost πŸ’”

Ugh, another senseless tragedy in Chicago πŸ€•. I mean, can't a guy even get a peaceful day outside without getting caught up in some gang-related drama? That poor 30-year-old dude was just trying to live his life and ended up getting gunned down... no ID on him either, talk about being invisible πŸ™„. And the fact that nobody's been arrested yet is like, a major red flag - what are they waiting for? More bodies gonna keep showing up until someone takes responsibility?

And what's with all these gang wars in Chicago? Can't we just have a peaceful city for once? I'm tired of hearing about gun violence and victims who don't even get to live their lives. It's like, the system is broken or something πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ.

πŸ€• it's just getting crazy out there... a double shooting on the west side is just another day now 🌫️ i mean, what's going on in chicago? 2 people get shot and killed in broad daylight outside a home... that's not even news anymore πŸ’” the fact that the 30-year-old victim didn't have any ID on him at the time of the attack just raises more questions about how we deal with homelessness and poverty πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ and what really got me is the lack of updates from police - no arrests, nothing... it's like they're saying 'oh well' to these lives lost πŸ˜”

Man, it's like Chicago is just experiencing a never-ending cycle of violence over there πŸ€―πŸ’”. You got innocent people walking down the street, minding their own business, and then BAM! Gunfire erupts out of nowhere. It's heartbreaking to see families affected by these senseless acts. The fact that the 30-year-old victim didn't even have ID on him at the time is just another layer of tragedy πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. And with no arrests made yet, it's like the cycle just keeps spinning πŸ’”. We need to keep talking about these issues and find a way to break this cycle of violence. It's time for our cities to come together and support each other πŸ’•.

You know, this double shooting just highlights how we're still struggling with gun violence and community trust issues in our cities πŸ€•. I think it's time for us to be having a national conversation about whether or not arming civilians is really the solution to keeping people safe. It's like, what's the logic behind that? We've got laws on the books already, so why do we need more guns on the streets? It's a classic case of 'more guns, less crime', but I'm not buying it πŸ€”.

I also think this incident is a microcosm for what's going on in our communities. When you've got young people like these victims, with their whole lives ahead of them, getting caught up in gang violence and shootings... it's just devastating πŸ’”. We need to be talking about job opportunities, education, and economic development - that's where the real answers lie.

The thing is, Chicago's had plenty of time to figure out what's going on, but the system hasn't really changed much πŸ•°οΈ. It's like we're stuck in a never-ending loop of violence and crime, with no clear way out. I guess that's why it's so important for us to keep pushing for change, even if it feels like a drop in the bucket sometimes πŸ’ͺ.

Man, this is just heartbreaking. Innocent people getting caught up in gang violence, it's like we're living in a movie from the 90s πŸ˜”. The fact that the victim with no ID couldn't even get help in time is just devastating. I keep thinking about all the resources wasted on these senseless shootings and I'm left wondering what could've been done differently πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ.

It's crazy how one incident can bring back memories of all the others like it. These South Side communities need more support than just law enforcement, they need economic opportunities and mental health services too πŸ’ΈπŸ’–. We gotta come together as a city to find solutions that don't involve guns and violence πŸ”«πŸ‘Š.

The lack of arrests is really frustrating and I hope the cops are working around the clock to solve this case ASAP πŸ•°οΈ. But even if they do catch someone, what's going to happen next? Is there going to be more support for the victims' families or just more arrests? We need real change here, not just more empty promises πŸ’”.

Man, these shootings are just getting outta control in Chicago 🀯. It's like every other week we got some crazy news about some innocent person gettin' caught in the crossfire. I'm all for keepin' it real and expressin' ourselves, but at what point do we stop? These guns are killin' people left and right. And no one seems to be gettin' held accountable πŸ€”. It's like the system just don't care about us on the South Side anymore. I'm not even tryna say that everything is bad, there are still some good people out here doin' great things πŸ’ͺ, but it feels like we're just stuck in this cycle of violence and no one's really tryin' to break it. We need real solutions, not just more empty promises πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ.

OMG u r thinkin bout all thos people gettin shot in chicago rn πŸ€•πŸ’” my heart go out to d victims fam & deir loved onesπŸ˜” this is like somethin we dont need in dis world 2025 n all we should b able 2 walk around w/o bein worried about our safety πŸ’– i hope dey catch de ppl responsible soon n bring 'em 2 jstice πŸ’ͺ
