2 arrested after stealing mail from several businesses in Medley - WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports | Fort Lauderdale

Two men face arrest and charges in connection with a string of mail thefts from businesses in Medley, Florida. According to police, Yoel Ampudia Hernandez and Duniel Mederos Veliz were caught on surveillance footage breaking into mailboxes at two warehouses.

The suspects allegedly used a screwdriver to pry open the mailboxes, which contained checks that they would then cash using fake identities. Police say this is not an isolated incident, as one of the suspects had previously attempted to take mail from another business in the area.

Medley police are now urging other businesses to come forward if they have been victims of these two individuals. The police department has identified approximately two to three potential victims and are asking anyone with information about the crime to contact them at (305) 883-2047.

The men were arrested following a traffic stop, and both appeared in bond court on Monday facing charges of armed burglary, among others. Police Sergeant Luis Rivera explained that the methods used by the suspects are particularly concerning, as they target businesses and use fake identities to cash out checks from stolen mail.

Law enforcement is urging anyone with information about this crime to come forward, and the police department is working to identify any potential victims in the area.

OMG 🤯 I'm so not surprised by these two! Using a screwdriver to break into mailboxes is like something out of a movie 🎥. It's just common sense to use lockpicks or have someone else do it for you, right? 😂 Anyway, I'm glad the police were able to catch them in the act and are now looking into more potential victims. Businesses should really start using these new secure mailbox things that have alarms on them - it would make life so much easier! 💡 And can we talk about how fake IDs are just a thing of the past? Like, who even uses those anymore? 🤷‍♂️

I'm still trying to wrap my head around how some people can think stealing mail from businesses is a good idea 🤯. I mean, what's next? Breaking into homes? It just doesn't make sense. And using fake identities on top of it? That's just lazy and reckless.

It's amazing that the police were able to catch them in the act with surveillance footage. I'm glad they're taking this seriously and warning other businesses to be vigilant too 💡. I hope these two guys get a good long sentence, not just because of the mail theft, but also because of how brazenly they thought they could get away with it.

It's also worrying that one of them tried to do the same thing at another business in the area 🚨. That shows a clear pattern of behavior and it's up to law enforcement to put a stop to it. I hope more businesses come forward if they've been affected, so we can start to see some real accountability here 💪.

OMG u guys!!! 🤯 I'm literally shaking right now!! Those two dudes are scum! 😡 How could they do that? They're basically taking advantage of other people's hard work and getting away with it?!?! The fact that they used fake IDs to cash those stolen checks is just ridiculous. 😂 And the worst part is, they're targeting businesses, which is just so wrong. I mean, what kind of people do this?!?! 🤔 Anyway, I'm so glad the police were able to catch them and now they'll have to face the music. Good job, Medley PD! 👏

This whole thing feels super suspicious 🤔... like they're just covering up something bigger. I mean, two guys get caught breaking into mailboxes, but only after they were stopped for a traffic infraction? That seems way too convenient 😏. And what's with all these fake identities? Are they trying to distract us from the real issue? 🤑

I've been thinking, maybe this is more than just a string of random burglaries. Maybe it's connected to some bigger operation. You know how it works - they create a diversion, and then people start to let their guard down 🔒. But I'm not buying it. There's gotta be something fishy going on here 🐟.

🤔 these guys are low 🙈, using fake identities to cash checks they stole from businesses. I'm shocked they thought they could get away with it for so long, but now that they got caught, maybe justice will be served 💪. You'd think they'd have better things to do than try to scam people out of their money. The fact that they targeted mailboxes at warehouses is just crazy, you gotta feel sorry for the businesses that had to deal with this 😩. I'm glad the police are on it and trying to find any other potential victims, hope these two guys get what's coming to them 🚔💼

idk why ppl would do this stuff tho 🤷‍♂️ I mean, thinkin bout the consequences of gettin caught and facin charges... but at the same time, i feel bad for these 2 dudes, like they must be really strugglin or somethin. mail theft is all good, but use fake identities? that's just reckless, fam 🤑. another thing, why did the police just happen to catch 'em during a traffic stop? seems kinda convenient, right? 🚗👮‍♂️ anyway, businesses should def be lookin out for each other and report any suspicious activity. can't let these scammers get away with it 💸.
