What to do in Philly this week

Philly's Fall Festival Frenzy: A Week of Art, Film, and Community Celebration

This fall, the City of Brotherly Love is gearing up for a packed calendar of events that blend art, film, food, and hometown pride. The Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival kicks off the week with citywide screenings and cultural events celebrating diverse voices and stories.

Meanwhile, the Contemporary Craft Show returns to the Pennsylvania Convention Center for its 49th year, joined by First Friday celebrations that fill neighborhoods from Old City to Fishtown with art and energy. For a dose of automotive nostalgia, The Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum hosts Demo Day, while the Philadelphia Museum of Art unveils Dreamworld: Surrealism at 100, a major exhibition tracing a century of the surrealist movement.

As Veterans Day approaches, Philly comes together to honor those who served. The Parkway will fill with marching bands, community groups, and tributes honoring veterans, culminating in the Philadelphia Veterans Day Parade & Festival.

Newcomers can explore Fetch Park in Manayunk, which opens on November 6, or visit Eastern State Penitentiary for a Veterans Day weekend of events from November 7-11. Families can enjoy Veterans Day Weekend at the Museum of the American Revolution, while theater fans will love Le nozze di Figaro, running from November 8 to December 2.

Cycling enthusiasts won't want to miss the Philly Tweed Ride on November 9, and beer lovers can check out the Sly Fox Cyclocross event on the same day at Sly Fox Brewing Company in Pottstown. Whether you're an art aficionado, foodie, or sports fan, there's something for everyone in Philly this fall. Mark your calendars and get ready to experience the best that the City of Brotherly Love has to offer.

I'm so stoked for all these awesome events coming up! 🤩 The Philly Fall Festival Frenzy sounds like an absolute blast, with art, film, food, and community celebrations galore. I love how they're highlighting diverse voices and stories through the Asian American Film Festival – it's about time we give those underrepresented perspectives some love 💖.

And, dude, the Contemporary Craft Show is gonna be insane! 🎨 I've been eyeing that Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum Demo Day for ages – who wouldn't want to geek out on vintage cars all day? 😎 Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Museum of Art's Surrealism at 100 exhibit is calling my name... like, what even is a century of surrealist art?! 🤯

I'm also super stoked about the Veterans Day Parade & Festival – it's awesome that Philly comes together to honor those who served. And, omigosh, Fetch Park in Manayunk opening on Nov 6? That sounds like an amazing new spot for picnics and outdoor fun 🌳!

Ugh, all these events sound like a logistical nightmare! I mean, I love Philly as much as the next person, but can't they just simplify things? Like, are we really gonna have to choose between the art festival and the craft show? Or should be able to check out multiple events without having to plan my whole week around it 🤯. And what's up with all these overlapping dates? It feels like I need a spreadsheet to keep track of everything 😩. And don't even get me started on parking... or lack thereof 🚗💨.
