Trump writes to Israeli president calling for Netanyahu pardon

US President Donald Trump has penned a letter to Israeli President Isaac Herzog, again requesting that he grant a pardon to outgoing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The pardon request comes as Netanyahu faces three separate corruption cases, with his supporters arguing the trials are politically motivated.

In his letter, Trump describes the situation as a "historic time" and claims that securing peace for 3,000 years is a major achievement. He suggests that Netanyahu's trial is "political" and "unjustified prosecution," while expressing respect for Israel's justice system. Trump had previously called for a pardon in social media posts and at an Israeli parliament speech.

Netanyahu has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing, with Herzog rejecting Trump's requests for a pardon in the past. The letter from Herzog's office notes that anyone seeking a presidential pardon must submit a formal request following established procedures, which Herzog has not done.

Meanwhile, Netanyahu is also facing criticism over his handling of the recent Gaza conflict, with some accusing US Ambassador to Israel Ron Dermer, who resigned on Tuesday, of failing to bring the war to an earlier end.

In his resignation letter, Dermer praises Netanyahu's "singular leadership" and suggests that he has been instrumental in ushering in a new era of security and peace for Israel.

omg can you believe this? 🤯 Trump is still trying to use his influence to help out his buddy Netanyahu despite all the corruption allegations against him 😒 I mean, come on, three separate cases and he's still denying any wrongdoing... it's like he thinks the whole world is blind to what's going on. And now there's even more drama with Ron Dermer resigning over Netanyahu's handling of the Gaza conflict 🤕 I don't know what's worse, Trump trying to save Netanyahu or Dermer praising him for his "singular leadership" lol that guy must be out of his mind 😂

The devil is in the details 💸, isn't it? Behind all the grand statements from Trump and Netanyahu, what really matters are the facts on the ground. The fact that Netanyahu's trial is ongoing despite his denials of wrongdoing says something about his willingness to hold himself accountable, or lack thereof 🤔. And let's not forget that with great power comes great responsibility 💪. Netanyahu's supporters claim the trials are politically motivated, but it's up to him and those in power to demonstrate their commitment to justice over ideology 🔒.

I'm low-key shocked that Trump is still trying to stick up for Netanyahu lol 🤯👊. Like, I get it, they're allies and all but c'mon, man... the corruption cases against him are pretty sus 😒. I'm not saying Netanyahu's innocent or anything, but it feels like Trump's just being super loyal to his buddy without actually looking at the facts 🤔.

And can we talk about the Gaza conflict for a sec? 🌊 I don't think anyone's been more vocal about supporting Israel than Dermer, and now he's resigning because of it 🙄. It's like, what even is going on over there? Netanyahu's all about "singular leadership" but honestly it sounds like just an excuse to do whatever he wants 😒.

I don't know, maybe I'm just reading too much into this, but it feels like Netanyahu and Trump are in bed together, and the rest of us are getting burned 🔥. Not sure what to think anymore 🤷‍♂️

😔 This whole thing just feels so frustrating... I can feel how trapped Netanyahu must be, knowing he's being investigated for corruption on top of dealing with this sensitive diplomatic situation... 3,000 years of peace? That sounds amazing but it also makes you wonder if all this drama is worth it 🤯... And to think Trump is backing him up like that... it's like he's saying "yeah, everything's fine" when the whole thing seems so complicated 😩... what do you think?

Ugh, what's up with these pardons? I mean, Netanyahu's getting three corruption cases going on and Trump is just like "hey, you're good, don't worry about it" 🤷‍♂️. Like, doesn't he know that in the US we have a system of checks and balances or something?

And what's with this whole "historic time" thing? Is Trump trying to make himself out as some kind of historical figure or something? And 3,000 years of peace is like... how did that even happen? Did Netanyahu just magically become the most peaceful person ever? 🤣.

I also don't get why Ron Dermer resigned. If he's saying that Netanyahu's been instrumental in security and peace, then shouldn't he be happy to stay on board? It seems kinda suspicious to me. Anyway, I'm gonna go watch some cat videos now, this all just sounds like too much drama for me 🐈💤.

OMG, like I'm totally confused about this situation rn 🤯! Trump is literally defending Netanyahu AGAIN 🙄, and it's just so suspicious, you know? Like, why does he always gotta be the one to save his BFFs from trouble? 😂 And can we talk about how weird it is that Dermer resigned over the Gaza conflict but still wrote this super flattering letter about Netanyahu?! 🤔 I mean, isn't that like, a huge red flag or something? 🚨 Anyway, I'm just so done with all these politcs and corruption cases... can't we all just get along (and have fair trials) instead of fighting over who's right? 💕
