President Trump has denied seeing the image of Barack and Michelle Obama as apes in a video he posted to his social media account, claiming that it was taken down after he was informed about its racist content.
According to the President, he only glanced at the beginning of the video, which was about alleged voter fraud allegations, before it was deleted from his Truth Social account. He stated that most of the video depicted these claims, but did not see the part that included the offending image.
Trump acknowledged that criticism of the post has been widespread and quickly condemned by Republican lawmakers and even within the White House itself. Despite this, he refused to apologize for posting the video, stating only that "I didn't make a mistake." He did however express his disapproval of the racist portion of the content.
