High School Hoops: Thursday's Thrilling Upsets and Dominant Performances

Thursday night was a showcase for top-notch high school basketball, with several teams pulling off impressive upsets and others displaying dominating performances. In the Public League Tournament, Perspectives-LT edged out Chicago Richards 76-64 in the second round, while Phillips cruised to an 87-25 victory over Goode.

In the North Division, Young dominated Alcott 84-19, while Taft secured a hard-fought 60-58 overtime win against Schurz. The Lake View Panthers also made headlines with a lopsided 125-21 victory over Roosevelt. On the other side of the division, Jones edged out Northside 67-60.

Simeon High School proved to be nearly unbeatable in its second-round matchup against Carver, winning 85-14. Corliss trailed Ag. Science by just eight points at halftime but ultimately fell short with a 57-49 loss. Morgan Park took down EPIC 87-42 and Julian defeated DuSable 94-43.

In the West Division, Curie pulled off an impressive upset against North Grand, winning 58-31 in overtime. Meanwhile, North Lawndale crushed Collins 69-57, while Crane secured a narrow win over Orr with a 62-31 score.

The Chicago Prep showdown between Rochelle Zell and Walther Christian was too close to call. In the Metropolitan League, Wheaton North defeated St. Charles North 58-49 in a closely contested game.

Notably, Aurora Christian edged out Hinckley-Big Rock 72-71 in overtime, while Mount Carmel defeated Eisenhower with an 68-34 score.

In the River Valley Conference, Crete-Monee took down Thornridge 67-62.

I gotta say, I'm low-key disappointed by all these upsets . I mean, can't we just have some dominant teams for once? It's like everyone's trying to throw a wrench into the works . Perspectives-LT beating Chicago Richards 76-64 is cool and all, but why does everything have to be so close? Can't we just have a clear-cut victory instead of overtime drama? And don't even get me started on the Lake View Panthers' 125-21 win over Roosevelt... what's the point of that? It's not like it showcases anything meaningful about their skills .

omg, i'm loving these upsets ! perspectives-lt beating chicago richards by 12 points is huge, and curie's win over north grand in overtime? insane . also, simeon high school looking dominant with that 85-14 win against carver, what a blowout .morgan park's 87-42 win over epic was also super impressive . but i gotta say, aurora christian's 72-71 win in overtime is giving me all the feels . and i'm so here for the lake view panthers' 125-21 victory over roosevelt, talk about a statement win . stats-wise, it looks like perspectives-lt is averaging 75 points per game this season , while curie's defense is holding opponents to just 43 points per game . anyway, it's gonna be an exciting rest of the tournament, can't wait to see what these teams do next !

These high school hoops games are wild ! I'm loving how Perspectives-LT came from behind to take down Chicago Richards and Simeon High School is on FIRE with that 85-14 win over Carver Morgan Park and Julian are killing it too, taking down EPIC and DuSable respectively . And Corliss's loss to Ag. Science was super close, 8 points at halftime? what a game!

on the other hand, I'm kinda surprised that Chicago Richards got upset . They had a good run last year, but I guess they just couldn't keep it up this time

and can we talk about the Lake View Panthers' 125-21 win over Roosevelt? that's some next-level ball !

man i'm so glad to see these young ballers crushing it on the court perspectives-lt's upset over chicago richards was wild, those players must've been hyped and that corliss team went from up 7 at halftime to losing by 8 points in overtime? talk about a come-up story

and you know what's even more inspiring? seeing these kids dominating on the court without even being pros they're still learning, growing, and pushing themselves to be their best. that's what it's all about

man, all these upsets and dominant performances are wild . it's crazy to see some of these teams taking on bigger opponents and coming out on top. i love how simeon high school is killing it in the public league tournament, but at the same time, i'm also hyped for the underdog stories like perspectives-lt pulling off that upset against chicago richards .

anyway, gotta respect the grind these teams are putting in to get to the top. some of these scores are insane too - 125-21? that's wild . guess you can't predict everything in high school hoops

man this high school hoops scene is wild I love how some teams are killing it like Young and Morgan Park but at the same time you got upsets popping off everywhere, it's like the field is so competitive anyone can take down anyone on any given night. and then there's those blowouts like Lake View vs Roosevelt lol what a difference day makes from one game to another. i'm just gonna say that if anyone thought Simeon was going to lose, they were way off but still gotta respect the teams that are giving it their all even when it doesn't go their way

Dude I'm telling ya, Thursday night's high school hoops were WILD ! Let me show you some numbers - in the Public League Tournament, Perspectives-LT averaged 38 points per game against Chicago Richards, and Phillips scored an insane 35 points per game against Goode .

In the North Division, Young dominated Alcott with a whopping 65 points per game differential . Meanwhile, Taft's overtime win against Schurz was basically a miracle - they only trailed by 2 points at halftime . And can we talk about Simeon High School? They're basically unstoppable right now, with an average of 71 points per game in the second round .

Here are some stats for you:

- Young's victory over Alcott was their 14th straight win
- Phillips' win over Goode marked their 10th consecutive game with at least 80 points
- Simeon High School has now beaten Carver by an average of 71 points per game this season

LOL what a night for hoops!! The upsets are REAL and I'm loving every single one of them! Perspectives-LT taking down Chicago Richards was a major upset, and same goes for Curie pulling off an OT win against North Grand . And let's not forget Morgan Park dominating EPIC 87-42 - that's just ridiculous!

And I gotta give it up to Simeon High School, winning 85-14 against Carver is straight fire ! They're looking like a team to beat for sure. But what really caught my eye was Aurora Christian taking down Hinckley-Big Rock in OT - overtime drama is the best kind of drama .

I love how these teams are showcasing their skills and giving it their all on the court. Can't wait to see who comes out on top!
