Through carnage of the government crackdown, Iranian protesters looked to Trump

Iran's protesters turned their anger towards former US President Donald Trump in the aftermath of a devastating government crackdown on anti-government protests that left thousands dead. The chants at demonstrations were full of anti-Khamenei and pro-Shah sentiments.

But some protesters, including a 70-year-old father who took his parents to their first-ever protest, reported seeing snipers on rooftops and mounted machine guns on the backs of pickups, as well as tear gas used by security forces.

These images are reminiscent of what hundreds of bodies in body bags began leaking out of the country despite an internet shutdown and laws banning the sharing of videos related to the protests.

HRANA estimates that more than 42,000 people have been arrested since the protests started, with human rights groups warning prisoners could be subject to arbitrary executions.

Three weeks after the violence, Iran has fallen silent even as the internet sputters back to life. There are no chants or protests now, and people are scared and staying home because of the heavy security presence on the streets.

Some protesters have turned to Trump as a source of hope. S., a young professional who participated in previous protests, said that without international intervention she didn't think anyone else would continue to stand against government bullets.

πŸ€• I'm still trying to process what's happening in Iran πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. The images of snipers and tear gas are just heartbreaking 😩. It's crazy how quickly things escalated and people got caught up in the violence πŸ’₯. I'm so worried about the 42,000+ people who have been arrested 🀯 - it's like they've lost all their rights and freedoms 🚫.

It's interesting to see how some protesters are now looking towards Trump for hope πŸ™... but honestly, isn't he just a symbol of the same system that's oppressing them? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ I mean, what's the point of having one oppressive government if we're gonna point fingers at another leader instead of working together to bring about change? 🌎πŸ’ͺ.

Can't we all just focus on supporting each other and working towards a more peaceful world? πŸ™πŸ’– It's not that hard, right? πŸ€—

This is getting super scary for the Iranian people πŸ€•. Thousands dead and over 42k arrested? That's just insane! It's no wonder they're looking at Trump as a potential savior – who wouldn't want international intervention in this situation, right? 🌎 The security presence must be suffocating their daily lives now... I can only imagine how terrifying it is to see snipers on rooftops and tear gas being used. Where are the human rights groups? πŸ€” It's heartbreaking that people, especially families with young children, were out protesting for the first time due to their parents' wishes 🌟. Now they're just staying home in fear... this is a huge concern for anyone who cares about Iran and its people ❀️.

OMG this is so sad πŸ€• like what's going on in Iran? Thousands of people are dead and it's not even being reported on the news over here πŸ˜’ the images of snipers and tear gas are literally nightmare fuel 😱 I feel for those 70-year-old dad who took his parents to their first protest, that's so brave πŸ’ͺ but like what's the point when everyone's too scared to leave their homes? 🏠 it's like Iran is in this really bad state right now and nobody seems to be doing anything about it 😩 I'm just gonna sit here and hope for a peaceful resolution, but man...

🀯 I'm not surprised to see people blaming Trump for the Iranian situation but what's weird is how quickly they're shifting their anger from Rouhani to him... it feels like a distraction tactic πŸ”„. What's really concerning is that these protests were about more than just regime change, it was about fundamental human rights and freedoms - do we care about those or are we just looking for a scapegoat? πŸ€”

just reading about this Iran situation is super depressing πŸ€•... can't believe the violence and suffering these people are going through. it's like they're being crushed under a heavy boot and nobody seems to be doing anything about it πŸ’”... but then you see the story of S., that young professional who turned to Trump as a source of hope, and it makes me think maybe there is still some light at the end of the tunnel? 🌟 international pressure or intervention could really make a difference here... we need to keep pushing for human rights and freedom of expression πŸ’ͺ

I'm surprised people still think it's all about anti-Khamenei sentiments. I mean, sure, some protesters might be chanting that, but have you seen the footage from those rooftops? Snipers on top of buildings, machine guns on pickups... it sounds like a war zone to me 🀯. And don't even get me started on the numbers - 42,000 arrested? That's crazy! HRANA is right, these people could be in danger of being executed arbitrarily. I'm not surprised they're all staying home now, with that heavy security presence. It's a shame too, because Trump might actually be a source of hope for some of these protesters... it's time to think about international intervention, imo πŸ‘Ž.

I'm totally freaking out over this Iran situation 🀯... how can we, as a global community, just sit back and watch? It's like, we know what's going on behind those closed borders, but we're not doing enough to help πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. Trump might be a polarizing figure for some people, but when it comes to standing up against brutal suppression of freedom and human rights, he's definitely got the right idea πŸ’ͺ. I mean, think about it - his administration wasn't afraid to take on Iran back in 2018, so maybe it's time we re-examine our own stance on this conflict πŸ€”. It's not going to be easy or pretty, but someone's gotta speak out and make some noise πŸ”Š...
